That is a bummer that Pittfall is leaving as it is one of my favorite drop towers. Gonna miss those views facing the Thunderbolt and river from on top as well as seeing it dominate the skyline from the Rankin Bridge.

Of course that ride never ran at full capacity. There would always be at least one side not working every time I went to Kennywood.

Pitt Fall leaving? That is the best non-coaster ride in the the park! I'd rather they take out Aero or Swingshot than this!

To take out an attraction that large, that popular, and that awesome must mean they have something amazing planned. Cause if they don't...

I thought the reason why Pittfall was being removed was that it has been a maintenance nightmare.

Pretty sure that's a large part of it. They have to call maintenance to that ride at least once a day for issues.

I was on the next-to-last run of Pitt Fall last night (and a bunch before that). Had a good time! Can't wait to hear what will replace it.

Here's my wild guesses for Pitt Fall's replacment

. A Zamperla Star Flyer ride

. A Scrambler ride

. The return of Wipeout

. A Zamperla Discovery ride

. A Technical Park Street Fighter ride

. A food or games stand

Didn't the park say they weren't looking at a StarFlyer to replace PitFall?

I would think whatever they replace it with would also need to be a tall icon that gives you a view out over the ravine drop-off. But I don't know what they'd go with outside of a drop tower or some form of StarFlyer/Windseeker.

Hey Y'all. We were messing with our Laser cutter over here at CoasterDynamix and thought you would get a kick out of this sign we made:

has anyone gone to Phantom Fright Nights this year? I just went for my first time last night and honestly loved the entire event. The atmosphere at the park was incredibly creepy and I thought the haunts were really well executed. Especially Biofear and Shadows. Biofear had some extremely committed actors and I have never gone in a maze like shadows before seeing how Cedar Point has no mazes like that. Any thoughts on the event compared to recent years this year?

That's a bummer, wondering the reasoning behind the removal. That's a great ride, truly one of the best 'normal' 2nd Gen Intamin Towers.

As its been mentioned before, the ride is being taken out for one reason; it's been nothing but headaches over the last few years. It's been nearly impossible to run all 4 sides for awhile now, and when the park got all 4 running, the ride usually broke down causing the ride to have to be evacuated. Combine this with the fact that the park would have to spend a ton of money to get it back to decent running shape for next season, the park decided to cut its losses now and put the money they would have to spend on Pittfall on a new ride for next season. Honestly, I'm glad to see the ride go simply because of all the problems it has, but it'll be sad not being able to see it next to the Phantom while crossing the Rankin Bridge going to the park.

^ You know I love Pittsburgh and everything, but who thought up this poll?

A part of me thinks it's crazy that the last time I went to Kennywood was in 2009 when I did my documentary for my TV Production class. I guess priorities are priorities though.

^It has already been confirmed that the ride will no longer operate at Kennywood. Hate to crush your dreams, but just because it is standing does not mean it will operate (at least not here) again.

Case and point:

That is true, however, maybe the sale fell through? The cars are all sitting parked at the top of the tower still. If something special is supposed to replace it, I know there is a bit of time, but you would think it would be in some state of disassembly.

The crane isn't scheduled to show up until after Thanksgiving. There are also many markings and some stakes on the ground around Pitt Fall for the new ride.

Adam, what is that ride in the picture?

Flashback Magic Mountain. I didn't look at the site in detail, I drive past it every week. Thank you for the update. Any news on who it was sold to? Or what the replacement may be?

Posted

It was sold to a park in another country somewhere. There is lots of speculation as to what the new ride may be... many think a Frisbee type ride. Nothing has been confirmed yet.

I remember them saying something "special" and "unlike any other ride nearby" so I am thinking something more nostalgic? The whole "we don't do rides like people nearby" thing is kinda different than adding a screamin swing after Cedar Point added it. But by their logic that knocks out a Frisbee ride because of MaxAir.
