larrygator Posted January 25, 2010 Posted January 25, 2010 Shane - love the postcards. Do you think any parks showed interest in Gravity Group's immersive wooden coaster?
ohiocoasters Posted January 25, 2010 Posted January 25, 2010 Shivering Timbers needs those trains. And retracking too...
rollin_n_coastin Posted January 25, 2010 Posted January 25, 2010 Thanks for posting Shane. Only been on one, Ravine Flyer II, and it was really good. Looking forward to trying out a Timberliner train at some point.
Hockeydad Posted January 25, 2010 Posted January 25, 2010 I can see the Splinter fx coaster being a great fit for Holiday World! And not just because HW has gone with GG for Voyage in the past. A family-themed dark ride/roller coaster just reeks HW to me. And if they could squeeze it, (geographically), into Halloween...even better!
ElToroExtreme Posted January 25, 2010 Posted January 25, 2010 Awesome Shane... I love seeing these kinds of things!
PKI Jizzman Posted January 25, 2010 Posted January 25, 2010 Heh-those are the same things they gave us after our tour! They're pretty cool. I love the "SHICK OBSORBTION" instead of shock obsorbtion in the second upload.
thrillgeek Posted January 26, 2010 Posted January 26, 2010 Thanks for sharing the brochures Shane! Gave us lots of cool info about all their coasters.
themeparkologist Posted January 27, 2010 Posted January 27, 2010 Hasn't a custom Splinter fx already been built? *cough*lost coaster*cough*
montezooma Posted January 29, 2010 Author Posted January 29, 2010 Coming this afternoon and over the next 5 days in Shane's Amusement Attic...a very special 5-part mini series, "Memories of Opryland" I will be presenting over the next 5 days the wonderful program that aired on Nashville's PBS station. If you are a fan of Opryland or never got the chance to visit this unique park you MUST see this program. -Shane

Emiroo Posted January 29, 2010 Posted January 29, 2010 THANK YOU SO MUCH SHANE! As an Opryland frequenter, this is both spectacular and bittersweet. And as awesome as these videos are, Opryland was even better than these clips make it look. I will miss it forever.

larrygator Posted January 31, 2010 Posted January 31, 2010 Great stuff as always Shane. My family almost took a long side trip when visiting my cousin stationed at Fort Campbell in 1980 (we went to Monmouth Caves instead) I remember the days when most amusement parks (including Magic Knigdom) had those fruit shaped drink containers. Ah the good old days!
montezooma Posted February 1, 2010 Author Posted February 1, 2010 MEMORIES of OPRYLAND part 3 Opryland was all about the shows! [coastertube]http://www.themeparkreview.com/coastertube/play.php?vid=Opryland_Memories_part_3_pnh6[/coastertube]
larrygator Posted February 1, 2010 Posted February 1, 2010 ^^Yes, Mark - but at other parks they didn't have an Opryland logo. This series is just so entertaining and informative to watch. When did it originally air?
montezooma Posted February 1, 2010 Author Posted February 1, 2010 It aired in 2008...part 4 is all about the rides!
linearinduction Posted February 1, 2010 Posted February 1, 2010 You know Shane, one of the Live Shows Directors at Opryland, Mark Huffman, was the Director of Live Entertainment at Lagoon from 1996 - 2003. Mark, and his Wife Christy, now Direct the Live Entertainment at Disney's Hollywood Studios.
montezooma Posted February 1, 2010 Author Posted February 1, 2010 The production cost of creating, directing and staffing all those shows must have been off the charts! I wonder if the costs of running and maintaining a signature ride is about the same as one of their shows. Anyone have any insight on this???

BrownStreak Posted February 2, 2010 Posted February 2, 2010 Intamin AG of Germany? Same guy (claiming to represent a thrill seekers) website says he doesn't know if any other bobsled coasters exist...other than that, Great Video!
montezooma Posted February 3, 2010 Author Posted February 3, 2010 MEMORIES of OPRYLAND part 5 Here is the final instalment of this documentary. Hope you enjoyed it! -Shane [coastertube]http://www.themeparkreview.com/coastertube/play.php?vid=Opryland_Memories_part_5_qlr3[/coastertube]

I know when Mark and Christy were at Lagoon, Rock U2 The Top and the Night Show in Music USA each had a Budget of more than 250K Each!
larrygator Posted February 3, 2010 Posted February 3, 2010 Shane - I caught your name in the credits. Very humble of you not to mention your video contributions to the project. thanks again
Guy T. Koepp Posted February 4, 2010 Posted February 4, 2010 What an awesome program Shane. I am now so sad to be living here without having this wonderful park. I actually was down at the Opryland Hotel today. We had to walk by the old Grizzly River Rampage area to get to the hotel. The entire ride still exists.
