TatsuTerror Posted November 28, 2007 Posted November 28, 2007 Hi, I don't post much but I thought I would share a passion of mine, coaster photography. But more specifically, a niche in which I have found myself quite happy--closeup photography. Here are a few of my favorites...let me know what you think. I'll post more if there is any interest, and the rest of my photos (the good ones) are at my website, coastercapture.com. Enjoy!
SharkTums Posted November 28, 2007 Posted November 28, 2007 To each their own! To me, this seems really boring...I mean, there's no train, no people, no layout, nothing. Just my opinion.
arrowfanman Posted November 28, 2007 Posted November 28, 2007 I personally love close ups like that, which include trains of people IN the shot, where you can see their expressions. But I can appreciate these photos. Sorta the whole RITR thing--It's like porn for coaster enthusiasts! -Jahan
stormrider Posted November 28, 2007 Posted November 28, 2007 I like how they show the massiveness of the track. And since I like seeing technical aspects of rides, being able to view the connectors is exciting for me as seen by the photos I took: http://www.themeparkreview.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=38434&highlight= Where none of the pictures I took have people in them So to each his or her own then.
thefitness Posted November 28, 2007 Posted November 28, 2007 'Artistically' I can appreciate this, but I agree with Elissa. Don't get me wrong they are great pictures, with any genre of photography there just has to be that 'eye-catching' element to it. These would be awesome if you paired them up with a picture of a model wearing the same color scheme or something...just a thought.
canadianfreak Posted November 28, 2007 Posted November 28, 2007 A train zipping by would be amazing coaster porn!
CP_RULES Posted November 28, 2007 Posted November 28, 2007 I kind of like seeing some of the curves of B&Ms and Intamins and Gerstlauers close up, but I'm always a sucker for brakes (and other technical things that have to do with brakes ie. proximity switches), ESPECIALLY B&M brakes. If you took some pictures like this, I might like your pictures even more!
exit english Posted November 28, 2007 Posted November 28, 2007 I had a reply just like Elissa's typed up and decided not to post it, but I completely agree.
TatsuTerror Posted November 28, 2007 Author Posted November 28, 2007 Problem is, if there is a train in the frame, I'd have to zoom out...unless you guys mean just having a part of the train? Next time I'm at a park, I'll take some of the shots you seem like you'd prefer. Edit: How about this, CP RULES?
Airtime&Gravity Posted November 28, 2007 Posted November 28, 2007 They are nice photos, especially Rita, but catching a little more of the coaster would be nice. Don't get me wrong as they are artistic, but by themselves they are kind of boring. I have taken many close ups of track before, but usually when I do closeups, I try to make it interesting by getting a train or some other feature to make it interesting. See, close up, but you can see the facial expressions of riders.
exit english Posted November 28, 2007 Posted November 28, 2007 ^That's cause you're my real boyfriend! Well, yeah. I guess that means we *do* think alike?
TatsuTerror Posted November 28, 2007 Author Posted November 28, 2007 They are nice photos, especially Maverick, but catching a little more of the coaster would be nice. Don't get me wrong as they are artistic, but by themselves they are kind of boring. Guess again
kraken613 Posted November 28, 2007 Posted November 28, 2007 I personally think they look really good!
exit english Posted November 28, 2007 Posted November 28, 2007 Guess again I was going to call that one out, but I didn't feel like it. It's most definitely Rita: Queen of Speed.
spaceace12 Posted November 28, 2007 Posted November 28, 2007 Those are good pics (to the original poster) I think a train in frame depends on what the shot is. For example. I like the sun in this shot and I don't think a train would show up. Maybe a train in view would have been better, but I didn't get one. Everest
WillMontu Posted November 28, 2007 Posted November 28, 2007 I have tons of "close up" coaster porn shots The train is in this picture This one came out nicely This alone could turn Jahan on Arrow brakes Is this a LIM? Does this Roller Skater footer turn anyone on?
TatsuTerror Posted November 28, 2007 Author Posted November 28, 2007 ^^ Ah, but if you position the sun correctly you can get something like this: Obviously whether or not there should be a train depends on the framing of the shot...(see all my other photos)
Top Thrill Dragster Posted November 28, 2007 Posted November 28, 2007 Here are two of my favorite up close pictures. I personally got bored trying to take up close pictures. I much rather take and see photos with the layout of the ride and atmosphere surrounding it, than just track.
PKI Jizzman Posted November 28, 2007 Posted November 28, 2007 I love those yummy Intamin car close ups. Trains work too. Somehow, Firehawk squeezes in there.
CP_RULES Posted November 28, 2007 Posted November 28, 2007 Edit: How about this, CP RULES? Haha that one is nice, but it's the brakes that really get me off!
texcoaster Posted November 28, 2007 Posted November 28, 2007 I actually like those closeup pics a lot... I don't find them boring at all! Perhaps it's because I'm used to looking at a coaster for the layout, the trains, the people. Seeing them in these closeups gives me a facet I don't normally see, and that makes it interesting to me. I'm not sure I'm down with the brake fetish, though. To each his own.
CP_RULES Posted November 28, 2007 Posted November 28, 2007 ^Haha, it's really more that brakes just fascinate me. The way they stop a multi-ton train traveling a high rates of speeds is just cool to me.

Multi billion dollar crafts stopping from super high rates of speed
Coaster Sim. Fan Posted November 28, 2007 Posted November 28, 2007 I have to say while I think a train makes almost any picture look better some of these are really neat, I like the Rita one.
