downunder Posted November 27, 2007 Posted November 27, 2007 Huge cheers from the land downunder for the not so huge Robb Alvey! You rock, hobbit feet.
robbalvey Posted November 28, 2007 Author Posted November 28, 2007 Day 17 - So I never got aroung to post today's pic. I was in a hurry to head out to work, then I was planning on coming home for lunch which never happened, then it ended up being a late night, came home, took KidTums for a walk, and here I am! Anyway, since I knew that I really needed to work a bit harder since now really is the "hard time" I made sure I ate stuff that was well within my "fat and calorie" range. Power Bar for breakfast, a bowl of that 99% fat free Dennisons Chili (great stuff! Add a little bit of Dave's Insanity Sauce and you've got farts that will clear out a Batman queue for the next 12 hours) and a Jamba Juice smoothier for dinner. I played DDR for about 30 minutes than Jahan and I did a 45 minute workout later that night. It paid off! At least for today! Weigh in - 246.5 Total weight lost - 17.5 pounds in 17 days! And just to be totally random...here's an artsy shot of our bathroom door. Enjoy! "Scale Tums"
ebl Posted November 28, 2007 Posted November 28, 2007 ^ I've seen that door... Anyway, 17 lbs. in 17 days...not a bad pace at all. I'm glad you're not doing that "Lose 100 pounds in three hours" kind of diet because those never work. Lose the weight slowly, and it'll more than likely stay off. My own weight gain plan is working nicely as well. Right now at 145 lbs., I'm up almost 30 from where I was last year at this time. Eric
TheRapidsNerd Posted November 28, 2007 Posted November 28, 2007 And just to be totally random...here's an artsy shot of our bathroom door. Enjoy! 'twas indeed random. Coming soon, The Alvey bathroom PTR. Will it succeed, or just be awash? Found out today that the building next door to mine had Vault in the shopette. I know the lady who runs it pretty well, so I gave her a hug for carrying the drink. It was a Kodak moment (sniff). Stay the course man. Doing well.
cobra_roll06 Posted November 28, 2007 Posted November 28, 2007 Robb you're doing fantastic. You have so much determination and now over the halfway mark. Keep it up!
mcjaco Posted November 28, 2007 Posted November 28, 2007 As one who has "experienced" a few Robb farts, he probably lost five pounds just by doing that. Keep it up, Robb. You're doing awesome! Especially with all the holiday eating going on.
robbalvey Posted November 28, 2007 Author Posted November 28, 2007 Day 18 - Not too much to report from today. Power Bar for breakfast. Soup for lunch. Not even sure what I had if anything for dinner! Was a busy day. No time for food! Worked out with Jahan for 30 minutes. Weigh in - 245.5 Total weight lost - 18.5 pounds in 18 days. Feet
milst1 Posted November 29, 2007 Posted November 29, 2007 I'm envious...I've lost 24 pounds, but it's taken me *90* days.
robbalvey Posted November 29, 2007 Author Posted November 29, 2007 ^^^ Glad you liked the caption...it took me hours to come up with it! Working on a new update now....
Coasterlvr_nc Posted November 29, 2007 Posted November 29, 2007 wow, thats pretty impressive that you can manage to keep loosing weight at this rate! are you going to start wearing socks? just wonderin....
shesaidboom Posted November 30, 2007 Posted November 30, 2007 Just out of curiosity, what's your 'fat and calorie range' that you mentioned in your day 17 update? Good luck with reaching your goal!
odene497 Posted November 30, 2007 Posted November 30, 2007 are you going to start wearing socks? just wonderin.... This thread would lose everything without feet pictures!
robbalvey Posted November 30, 2007 Author Posted November 30, 2007 ^ You know, it kind of varies. I just try not to eat "too much fat" and try to stay under 2,000 calories per day. I usually end up coming in at about 1,200 or so. For example, if I have a bowl of the low-fat chili I think it's a total of 4 grams per fat for the entire meal. Whereas if it was like 12 grams of fat I wouldn't even touch it! It's more or less a guage on the fly that sounds 'good'. Any more strict and I wouldn't be able to do it. Day 19 - It was a pretty basic day. Power Bar for breakfast. Bowl of yummy "Chicken Noodle-o's" for lunch and went to Panera with some of the guys at work for dinner. Played about 25 minutes of DDR and took a 90 minute walk with KidTums. Today's weigh in - 245 Total weight loss - 19 pounds in 19 days! Scale
ebl Posted November 30, 2007 Posted November 30, 2007 ^ I used to walk about five miles, three times a week. That took me around an hour and 15 minutes. Best exercise ever. Eric
Sunfire Posted November 30, 2007 Posted November 30, 2007 This is great! You're still on schedule! Keep it up, and you'll acheive your goal. You've inspired me to eat healthier. I can't eat nothing but junk food all day, or I'll become more of a morbosity, and I won't fit inside Chance Revolutions!
TheRapidsNerd Posted November 30, 2007 Posted November 30, 2007 Here's some more motivation that's on Target. Keep up the good work, Robb. Thinking of the Vault Icee fans. This my best Robb "Oooo" Face.
robbalvey Posted December 1, 2007 Author Posted December 1, 2007 Day 20 - It was a pretty bad day yesterday in terms of eating. I didn't really eat much. And it was mostly due to just being really busy with stuff. It was one of those days where I was constantly busy, but I don't feel like I got that much done. It was more or less having to do stuff so I could eventually get OTHER stuff done! Anyway, I think all I ate yesterday was a Power Bar, 2 cups of pudding, and um....wow, was that really IT?!?! There must have been something else, but I honestly can't think of anything else! Wow. So yeah, this is really getting a bit tougher. I'm now at the point where I'll wake up in the morning, step on the scale and go "WTF!?! I didn't eat hardly ANYTHING yesterday, was active for 3+ hours, and all I lost was a 1/2 a pound?!!?" *sigh* And the thing is, even though I've now dropped 20 pounds, it really still doesn't *feel* like I've lost much weight. I seriously don't think I'll be able to feel it until I'm below 240 or 235. That's the bummer thing about it. I've been doing this for 20 days now, and I still yet to feel as though I'm making much progress, even though I am. Anyway, that's today's rant! On to some stats! Today's weigh in - 244 lbs Total weight loss - 20 pounds in 20 days! KidTums worried. KidTums happy. Fuzzy feet
coasterdude5 Posted December 1, 2007 Posted December 1, 2007 Hey 20 pounds in 20 days isn't something many can say they've done! You'll hit another loss-streak soon.
RCFreak Posted December 1, 2007 Posted December 1, 2007 Cutest kid ever! Congrats on staying on track, it must be difficult not feeling the difference, I have the exact opposite problem, I think I'm doing really good, then I step on a scale lol. I know some of it has to with actual having some muscle now, but it still stings a bit.
ebl Posted December 1, 2007 Posted December 1, 2007 Kristen gets cuter every time I see her! She's sure a happy kid. "This thread would lose everything without feet pictures!" (odene497) The thrill of victory, and the agony of "da feet." Eric

I know some of it has to with actual having some muscle now, but it still stings a bit. One of the reasons I don't look at a scale, it's not going to give an accurate progress report. You just have to continue working out, and change up a few things in that workout to shock your body into losing more weight otherwise your body will get used to the exercise and you will plateau. So I just watch what I eat, take my vitamins and do my exercises. I really didn't start seeing too much progress until the day the hot guy in the gym winked at me two weeks ago.... that's when you know you've done something... nothing like people staring at you when you're in the gym taking notice of what you're doing.. Terry

Terry *sigh* I'm still not at the point of where the hot guy winks at me. I totally see what you mean, though. I think when I'm "happy" with my current weight, I look at the scale about once a week just to make sure I'm not turning into a fatty. But now that I've turned into one, I kind of need the constant reminder that I need to keep working at it. It does help me, even if some days are a bit dissapointing, overall I've seen good results so I feel better overall. --Robb
