Edit - I just remembered, can someone fill me in on the World Of Color preferred seating through the restaurants? I remember reading somewhere in this thread that Carthay Circle was the best but I've got no clue what pricing would be per person and I'm not sure if it'd be worth it when we can get the same Fast Pass section I've had twice before for free.

Did this one last year, but at Wine Country Trattoria. Pretty good value at $30/person for a 3-course lunch and the preferred viewing ticket. From what I can recall the food was quite good, possibly the best in-park dining I've had at Disneyland or DCA. We got there 20 minutes before show time and were offered a spot in a fairly empty raised area, or equally empty part of the "splash" zone. Great view, front on to the show, and right up against the rail (so no iPad/GoPro "photographers" blocking our view). Definitely recommend and would do it again.

I'll have to check out Carthay the next time I'm there (too busy last December and the menu didn't entice me all that much). I did like my lunch at Flo's V8 Café, though.

It trumped all the other WoC meals I've had. I even ordered the Sriracha Duck wings off of the regular menu... Holy crap, they were good!

I'm eventually going to get all of my pictures and videos posted, just been slammed with my work schedule lately. I'm also thinking of holding off saying anything too mean until I hear back from Guest Services. Tuesday night at Disneyland was a complete disaster. Big Thunder Mountain, Space Mountain, Splash Mountain, and Matterhorn all shut down at the exact same time (6:30pm) and did not reopen before the park closed (9pm). Combine that with the six (SIX!) rides already closed for refurb, lack of nighttime entertainment (no Fantasmic or fireworks or stage shows) and the fact that Haunted Mansion broke five times during our ride, and you can see why I'd be a little ticked off.

Here's a quick Vine from Snow White, though!

That really sucks that all those rides were closed. Though, Haunted Mansion likely didnt break 5 times while yu were on it. What probably happened is they slowed/stopped the ride for a guest with a disability to load or unload. Every omnimover does this for a guest that needs more time to load or unload.

Disney's California Adventure TR!

We left Las Vegas around 12:30am on Sunday night and arrived in Anaheim around 4am. The reason for leaving so late was because I had to work until 10:30pm and the girlfriend had to work until 11:15pm. Yeah, entertainment jobs can be a pain sometimes. Anyway, we didn't feel like paying for a hotel for a 4 hour stay, so we parked behind a strip mall and got some sleep in my wonderfully roomy (HA!) Honda Civic.

We woke up Monday morning and, after taking a nice and needed stretch outside of the car, drove to the Super 8 on Disneyland Drive where we had a room booked for Monday Night. The awesome people that work there said it was no problem to park in their lot all day Monday and Tuesday while we were at the parks so as to avoid the $16 per day parking fee. Thanks, duders!

A quick 15 minute walk later and we were at Downtown Disney's Starbucks getting hyper-caffeinated. Super-huge coffees in tow, we headed to the ticket booths to spend some dollars. While waiting here we saw quite a large crowd outside of both Disneyland and California Adventure, not at all what we were expecting. Everything I had looked at had said these days would be completely dead. They were wrong. Luckily the lines were not excessive (aside form Radiator Springs Racers) and we were able to abuse Fastpass and single rider lines to have a good time anyway.

Once inside California Adventure we went straight to the Grizzly River Run Fastpass to grab our World Of Color passes. We skipped right by Soarin' because, well, Soarin' blows, quite frankly. With World Of Color taken care of, we headed straight to Toy Story Midway Mania.

Toy Story Midway Mania - Holy crap, only a 25 minute line?! I've never seen that before, nor have I ever been on this thing. We got in line and a half hour later we were on our way through the ride. Like everyone knows, it's a 3D shooting gallery. The vehicles have one hell of a whip when they spin around, but for the most part this ride is pretty lackluster. In between the screens there's really nothing going on. It's very much a masturbation simulator, what with the trigger mechanism and all. Sure, it's fun while you're doing it but afterwards you feel empty.

After Midway Mania I was jonesin' for some real fun. You know what that means....

Yep, Intamin awesomeness!

California Screamin' - Dammit, Disney! What the hell?! GET THE DAMNED SOUNDTRACK WORKING AGAIN! Yes, it's still a fun ride, but the soundtrack adds so much more to the experience! Rant over. Moving right along, this ride is the perfect example of how much a coaster can change depending on where you sit. First ride was in the back row and it was fun but in a very family friendly way. We rode right away a second time with out Fastpasses and went to the front row and HOLY CRAP AIRTIME! Thanks to Disney's awesome bag policy, I got to witness my backpack float up from my feet to above our heads on the first hill! I was holding onto it, of course, but sheesh! Completely surprised us! Such a solid all-around ride. I love it.

Side note - We rode California Screamin' multiple times throughout the day, and our last trip through was front row on the Purple train. This is apparently the only train with a working soundtrack. If you go, request purple, otherwise you won't hear anything but screams.

One more note about the soundtrack - Back in 2011 every train had it working fine. Last September it was only the purple train with a working soundtrack, same as this visit. How hard is it to fix this? Get on it, Disney!

Radiator Springs Racers - Such a fun ride with awesome animatronics. We rode three times throughout the day, single rider line every time (they ran out of Fastpasses by 11am). The racing finale is excellent and there's some great airtime on those hills and dips! It amazes me how popular this ride is. The standby line was a consistent 90+ minutes all day while Tower Of Terror, Screamin', Toy Story, etc all were under 30 minutes. Love this ride.

[vine]https://vine.co/v/M6Ml1JeqJ1d[/vine]

We headed to Tower Of Terror and grabbed some Fastpasses, then saw Aladdin was just about to begin, so we headed on it.

Aladdin - Still a fun way to waste 45 minutes. Genie is always changing the jokes and he actually made Aladdin break character 5 times during the show. Some people don't enjoy it but I think the show is great.

WITH A WORKING MAGIC CARPET FINALLY!!!!!!!

[vine]https://vine.co/v/M6M552W95Hw[/vine]

[vine]https://vine.co/v/M6MnPFuHvKw[/vine]

Tower Of Terror - The preshow video was broken. I'm a fan of that, saves me 5 minutes, hahaha. Unfortunately only one of the concierges was in character. The rest were the regular happy Disney employees, which was disappointing. They're supposed to be creepy ghosts! Tons of airtime on this thing, though, which is excellent. I may hate the access hallway between the boiler room and elevator, but the actual ride is great.

Monsters Inc - Fairly boring but still a way to waste some time.

Goofy's Sky School - Holy crap this was a violent mouse! I don't recall there being any brakes until the end! It was awesome!

Silly Symphony Swings - OK, adding the William Tell Overture to a wave swinger is officially awesome. The end.

Mickey's Fun Wheel - Always ride the swinging cars, duh.

Just because it's awesome -

[vine]

[/vine]

Other notes - Mater's Towing was a pretty good whip ride but way too short of a cycle. Luigi's Flying Tires were completely pointless and impossible to steer. A Bug's Life was closed and instead was just a preview for Maleficent. Muppets was broken.

And now, World Of Color.

World Of Color - Holy balls. Alright, I've seen this show three times before and each time I was in the center or rear of the viewing area. I've always been a huge fan of this show (seriously don't get why some people hate it). This time, though, I decided we were going balls to the wall and got right up front. Well, not RIGHT up front since we arrived about a minute before the show began (decided to get one last ride on Radiator Springs Racers). We showed our blue Section Fast Passes and went as close as we could before getting stopped by the employee check for the dining package section. Basically, imagine the exact front center of the viewing area, then move five feet to the left and ten feet back from the fence. That's where we were.

My brain broke. I spent the entire show with this dopey look on my face with my jaw agape and a huge grin, all while getting completely drenched by the 200-foot fountain right in front of us. I don't know what it is exactly, but this show really hits me deep. I think back to it, imagining the scenes and hearing the songs and I can't help but be extremely happy. The girlfriend said I looked, and I'm quoting, "pathetically, helplessly cute" while watching the show. I'm not sure if that's good or bad, but I don't care. I love this show more than I can put into words and if I could watch it every night I would.

Now that I've been that close to the action, I can't see it from another area, either. I already warned the girlfriend that next time we go we're going to be right up against the fence getting even wetter. I can't friggin' wait.

That doesnt make sense that they would turn the light on and off several time and not just evacuate you. I wonder why they'd do that. lol.

Eh, I had similar things happen when I worked on The Great Movie Ride. We only evacuated if it was going to be a prolonged problem. It took us about 20 minutes to get through The Haunted Mansion, though, hahaha.

Prices went up!

ANAHEIM – Disneyland Resort raised its ticket prices on Sunday, with a one-day, one-park ticket for visitors 10 and older going to $96.

The $4 boost at Disneyland and Disney California Adventure is about the same as previous hikes, which usually happen about once a year. Single-day ticket prices have more than doubled since 2003.

The cost for annual passes went up, too.

“Like any business, we periodically evaluate our pricing and make adjustments based on a variety of factors,” said Suzi Brown, a Disneyland Resort spokeswoman, in a statement.

“A ticket to our theme parks represents a great value, particularly when you look at the breadth and quality of attractions and entertainment we offer and the special moments guests experience with our cast.”

The increase comes as the Disneyland Resort is experiencing strong growth. Since Cars Land opened as part of the Disney California Adventure makeover in June 2012, Disney has often reported record attendance during its quarterly reports.

Also, Disney suspended new sales of its popular Southern California annual passport because of the crowds. Those who already have them can renew them. And those who let Southern California passes expire in the last 90 days can renew them as well.

The parks have been particularly crowded on Sundays – the only weekend day usually available for those with the Southern California passes, which now cost $379 on renewal. A cheaper pass – the Southern California Select at $289 – is blocked out on weekends and is available for new purchases.

Other annual passes – the Deluxe, with Saturday and holiday blackouts, selling for $519, and the no-blackout Premium, selling for $699 – may be suspended in the future.

“Due to the popularity of our annual pass program – and to preserve the guest experience for our annual passholders and all guests – future sales of all annual passes will be subject to availability,” Brown said in the statement. “We continue to offer a variety of other annual passes so that our guests can choose a pass that’s right for them.”

The Southern California passes could be sold again when “renewal rates return to an appropriate level that preserves the guest experience,” Brown said.

Disney rarely suspends annual pass sales, last doing so temporarily in 2001 when Disney California Adventure opened.

In 2012, Disney attempted to weed out annual passholders, which had grown to about 1 million, when it dramatically hiked annual pass prices, according to Miceage.com, a Disney watchdog blog.

Prices went up!

$96 one day one park

$150 one day park hopper

Some of the price moves are interesting. The one day hopper is up $17, but a 3 day hopper went up $5, and the 3 day non-hopper only went up $1. Definitely making the multi-day visit even more attractive.

GOOD! It's about darn time they took even the first steps to curtail new AP sales. But I'll believe they've turned over a new leaf here when they stop advertising how cheap AP's are per month. Hopefully the end of monthly payment option is next.

^ They've suspended new SoCal AP sales -

I'm all for these changes. The demand is through the roof and so is the supply. By limiting those passes they'll surely piss off some people but it's definitely for the best of the parks and overall experience. When I visited the other week the place was kind of ridiculous in terms of crowds and crowd management. Thanks to the single rider lines and Fastpass the girlfriend and I were able to hit everything we wanted to, but large families would be stuck in the lines or fighting for Fastpasses that tend to disappear immediately (Radiator Springs Racers, anyone?).

I'm thrilled to see they're focusing on the betterment of the guest experience than just selling a ridiculous quantity of local APs. Sure, people will complain about the price, but it's still an incredible deal for what you're getting.
