Nrthwnd
^ Actually, I have become interested in the new Will Smith film, Concussion, about the cover up of the head injuries many football players were getting. And dying from. Good set of name actors in it, too. And I'm pretty sure David won't be interested in it at all, because of the sports thing, which is a bad way to judge any film, I believe. But then - I am tired of any film connected to Watergate; the JFK assassination; Politics In General. So he sees those on his own, or with others. And I see mine alone... with my Awesome Snack/Drink Tray from Concessions!
Philrad71
^ I hadn't heard of Concussion, but it sounds very interesting. I have a friend at work who's cousin died on the football field last year...very tragic. Spotlight is playing in Erie today at 3:45 so we are heading out soon...will let everyone know how it is! ^ Edit - Spotlight is a very good film. I don't think that I have ever been to a movie where a good portion of the crowd applauded afterwards. I wouldn't be surprised if this is nominated for an Academy Award or two. RCT3Bross
So yesterday I saw the final part of the Hunger Games and I have to say I was entertained but there was zero reason for them to split this up in 2 parts, now we have a boring movie and a midcore movie well this could have been one great movie. I loved the end, it messed with my brain, but it was predictable after a while. Spectre, saw this one a week or 2 3 ago, can't remember that clearly when it was, so it already tells something. The movie felt constantly the same switching from slow to actions scenes so frequent that at the end I was like: "Wait is this the final battle? Why isn't there anything to make it stand out?" Well in the end I toughed no scene stood out really. It made the movie feel longer then it should. Well it's so far a sad ending to my list of 2015 movie's, Just hope that the next one doesn't fall in the same category, I would hate Disney if Star Wars VII doesn't sit well with me. VF15
I saw Creed today. Excellent addition to the Rocky saga. While the plot is fairly predictable, the acting definitely makes up for it. Stallone gave one of his best performances since the original film. Michael B. Jordan also did a great job. Would like to see another sequel or two to see where they can take Jordan's character. I'd rank it as my third favorite film in the series behind Rocky and Rocky II.
Kyle Coleman
Went and saw the good dinosaur Friday. It was a good middle tier pixar movie. Not their best one but way better than either cars movie.
jray21
I saw The Good Dinosaur as well yesterday. Cute movie, Jacob really enjoyed it, but nothing amazing. Good movie, but I'd put it in the middle of Pixar movies as well.
CP Maverick
I thought The Good Dinosaur was visually stunning. The landscapes, textures, lighting, etc all seemed very real. And considering Pixars history, "average" is still quite good. The Zootopia sloth preview before the movie just made it better.

Risky
I saw The Good Dinosaur as well yesterday. Cute movie, Jacob really enjoyed it, but nothing amazing. Good movie, but I'd put it in the middle of Pixar movies as well. I honestly wasn't impressed. I left the theater unsatisfied. It didn't feel much like a Pixar movie either. Inside Out was waaaaaaay better.
cfc
Well the last Hunger Games film was a bust. Maybe about twenty minutes of plot in a two-hour-plus movie. So it moved along very slowly, lots of redundant scenes to help pad out the story. Recommended only for those who want closure after seeing the first three movies. Ended up seeing it with some friends over Thanksgiving. I agree with your assessment.
cfc
Just got around to watching Inside Out, and I liked it quite a bit--Pixar's best flick since Up.
Nrthwnd
We saw The Good Dinosaur yesterday. And we enjoyed it. Way more than we were led to believe through current reviews and such. True, we still agreed that "Inside Out" was the better of the two, both released by Disney and Pixar... But it made us wonder - what if they had reversed the opening dates/times? "Dinosaur" opening in June and "Inside Out" opening now? Maybe Disney and Pixar thought I/O was too emotionally intense for a holiday audience, etc. Who knows! I am very glad we saw TGD on the big screen. The artwork and animation of landscapes, water and the skies was breathtaking. Worth noting, and definitely some category of an Oscar Nomination! 9/10 Edited December 21, 2015 by Nrthwnd
cfc
I was thinking about seeing In the Heart of the Sea because I love the book; unfortunately, the reviews have been less than glowing.
CP Maverick
I was thinking about seeing In the Heart of the Sea because I love the book; unfortunately, the reviews have been less than glowing. The first two weeks of December are historically "dead" weeks, so studios usually throw out weaker product with little hope of much success. With Star Wars (huge market hog) next week, and Point Break (also WB...) on Christmas Day, the studio (WB) is saying they have no faith in the success of this film. Philrad71
^ & ^^ I read a review of it the other day and the Buffalo News critic gave it 3 out of 4 stars. He thought it was good, but said that he could see where it might not pander much to American tastes. In other words, not enough blood, guts, cursing and boob shots to appeal to most Americans that have the attention span of a four year old. I could see this movie probably being more popular in Europe or the UK.
RCT3Bross
Guy's just back from the movie of 2015: STAR WARS VII The Force Awakens. Loved it and I'm sure many will, It really had that OT vibe but it's a brand new story that lies before us now. Already hoping VIII and IX are going to be the same. Can't wait for 2017 when VIII arrives. It's hard to review this movie without Spoilers, but I say this Kylo Ren, Rey and Finn where the most interesting characters and those of this trio that survived (Could be all could be 2 could be 1 could be nobody, just watch the movie ) I look forward to see more of them. The Force is strong is this movie. Once more the STAR WARS will rule the cinema's.

rcjp
Just came back. It was great! Certainly lived up to my expectations (even if they were fairly high after the first reactions). It's just a bit frustrating that we'll have to wait for the rest haha
CP Maverick
Watched it this morning. It had bits of all three original movies. On a scale of Jedi to Empire, I put it a bit below the original and a bit above Jedi, with Empire being up top.

VF15
Star Wars: The Force Awakens was excellent. It maintained a good balance between content reminiscent of the original trilogy and plenty of good new content. Most of new characters they introduced were likeable and played by good actors. As with any Star Wars film, it had stunning visuals and great special effects. I can understand the complaints about some of the plot points being similar to A New Hope, but I didn't mind it since it was all well-executed. Anyway, The Force Awakens was a great show that J.J. Abrams and Disney did a great job with. Definitely check it out sometime soon. 9/
BCTom
Dialogue, action, humour, acting. realism. Everything the prequels got wrong, The Force Awakens gets right. There's a bit too much that feels been-there-done-that but it is a blast from start to finish. Edited December 19, 2015 by BCTom
CP Maverick
All three original films were similar as well. I think it was the departure from that format, among other things, that plagued the prequels.
