49ers played their absolute worse game in 2 years yesterday. I didn't think they could play any worse than the Vikings game, I was wrong.

I know the Giants are a good team, but they aren't THAT good. They just couldn't get anything going and I'm not quite sure why.

Luckily they only have a few days to wait as they play Seattle on Thursday.

The 49er are slowly turning into the which team is going to show up today team of the season (them and the Jets), I still think they are an elite team but honestly don't know if I could go all in on them or not. The game against Seattle should be interesting, Thursday games are weird but we'll see how good Seattle is.

The Falcons are a good team but they are due for a loss sometime soon and still need a signature win in my opinion to solidify their position as the best team in the league. Beating Oakland with a last second field goal or Carolina with a last second 60 yard pass doesn't exactly scream Super Bowl favorite, yet.

^ Agreed. I have Atlanta imploding at some point. Good team, not great.

^^ I actually think the Giants really are that good. I can't name another team that can pick and choose which game to show up for....and simply get the job done. They've seriously perfected the art of cruise control until the traffic picks up. Then they put it in gear and go. It really is pretty impressive, and to me, it's all because of that D-line. As long as they stay healthy, I can't find much of a reason to bet against 'em again this year.

Seattle v. San Fran should be fun though.

^Totally agree with you about the Giants. I could see them going back to the Super Bowl.

I didn't get to see much football, though I saw a good portion of the Ravens game. Sorry, Baltimore people, but the Ravens are not going to be doing anything unless they really improve. They were very lucky to win that game yesterday. And I say this as someone that's very happy whenever the Cowboys and/or the Redskins lose.

Don't get me wrong, the Giants are good. I think they may be the best team in the league right now (Sorry Falcons fans). I just don't think they are THAT good (beating a supposedly elite 49ers team 26-3).

I had a feeling the Giants were going to win, but I thought it would at least be a competitive game.

If I had a team that I was a huge fan of, the Giants would be the one team in the NFL that I wouldn't want my team playing. I think they are good enough to beat anyone in the league, anywhere, anytime, and there aren't a whole lot of other teams in the NFL in that same category. Yeah they might go 10-6 and somehow lose the division to Washington or something, but come playoff time, I don't want to see them.

That's because their entire schedule is back loaded. Yeah they have been squeaking by but they are always in the game. Even with all these wins, the Falcons need 1 or at least a couple of playoff wins to get the monkey off their backs. We will see how good the Falcons are when they face the rest of the NFC east these next few weeks. Even though the Saints have a bad record they will be good competition.

Now that we are a few weeks in, any surprises? I have a couple

Cleveland Browns

I've seen parts of most of their games (thanks to NFL RedZone) and IMO they are easily the best 1-win team in the league, may even be better than some teams with 3-4 wins. Most of their losses have come in close games (Eagles) and they have shown glimpses of good play. If you look at their point differential (-33) it's better than some other teams with more wins. I'm not going to say they are doing anything this year (or even next) but in the next 2-4 years I think they are going to be a team to reckon with.

Minnesota Vikings

Like Cleveland, I've seen a few of their games and they are certainly surprising. Don't know if they have any staying power this year but they are fun to watch.

I'm really not surprised about the Saints/Packers. Both seem to be playing better the last few games but without defense I just don't see them doing anything. The Giants, 49ers, Bears in the NFC and Texans in the AFC can shut them down.

If I had to pick a "favorite" at this point, if they can stay healthy, it's gotta be the Texans.

^Buffalo being 3-4 & should be 0-7...they're REALLY that bad and had no business beating Cleveland, Kansas City or Arizona (they certainly tried to give them that game).

I have seen some bad Bills teams over the years, but this defense takes the cake as the worst defense I have ever witnessed since I started watching football in the 80's.

I honestly don't think that I can stomach watching this team again this year unless they make some drastic changes. And that is saying a lot for someone that has faithfully watched most of their games in their 12+ years of not going to the playoffs and choking in four straight Super Bowls before that.

They definitely overpaid Mario Williams who has done next to nothing since signing his over-inflated contract, the linebackers are pretty much non-existant and the secondary couldn't cover a piece of toilet paper blowing in the wind. Some of these players ought to be embarrassed and give part of their salaries back to the fans that paid to go to the games to watch such ineptitude.

Even though the players still show faith in Gailey and Wannstedt, I don't see this team going anywhere this year...yet again. The Texans & Patriots are going to absolutely destroy them after their bye week.

Do yourselves a favor folks...take those two teams to cover the spread. They may very well set some NFL records just like the 49'ers did a couple of weeks ago!!!

I'd say that the Patriots being 4-3 with loses to Seattle and Arizona is a bit of a surprise, for a team that seemed like a lock to win the division and make a deep playoff run they have some serious weaknesses. I still think they'll get it together and win the AFC East but don't know if they're the Super Bowl contender they once were.

^ Yeah, Pats are kind of surprising and the fact they keep letting teams come back in 4th quarters.

^^ Bills are really that bad. I mean, they made Alex Smith look like Drew Brees and Aaron Rodgers combined. Then you see what happens when he plays against a decent defense the next week (Giants).

I wonder if Mario Williams is looking at what the Texans are doing and kicking himself. I know I'd be.

Very true about the 49ers. I know Alex Smith is doing relatively well, but I really don't like him. I'm a huge 49ers fan, but never liked him. He's good sometimes, and sometimes it's like he doesn't show up. I really hope Kaepernick gets better and takes over. Of course, I'm totally biased towards Kaepernick because I went and worked for UNR when he was there, and I even graded his papers!

I think Mario has been one of the biggest disappointments for Bills fans. Other than the decent day he had playing against Arizona's scrub linemen, he has easily been out-muscled when facing a good (or even sub-par) offensive line...and he's rarely being double-teamed. Maybe the Bills really meant to pay JJ Watt the $100 mill instead of Mario??

Even more strange is the fact that Wannstedt rarely calls blitz packages...if you already know that your linebackers & secondary stink in coverage, why not sprinkle in some safety or exotic LB blitzes? What can you lose...long td's, 3 & 20 conversions, or a 4th and 8 conversion that goes for the game winning TD? Heck, they do all of that on a regular basis anyway!

So this was the highlight of my NFL weekend...

and this.....

The world needs more absurd Rob Gonkowski touchdown dances, the more the better!

Atlanta might have lost, but we still have the best record in the NFL.

Until tonight when one of the 7-1 teams win. Then you will be sharing the 8-1 best record in the NFL.
