xX-Linde-Xx Posted August 18, 2007 Posted August 18, 2007 I seriously think this will not be some basic ride. The footprint is huge.
mightypotato Posted August 18, 2007 Posted August 18, 2007 I'm also very pleased that this isn't just a relocated FoF like Paramount was originally planning to do for 2008. Â Have I mentioned how glad I am that they're gone?
FlyingScooter Posted August 18, 2007 Posted August 18, 2007 "I just don't have much faith in CF."why is that? Â You ask a good question. Â Personally, i don't like what they've done to GL. In one season, they took out two of my favorite coasters. RWB has been broke since the season opened and it's not fixed, nor have i heard any talk about them fixing it. Â The remnants of the old 6F waterpark is still sitting rotting, as it has been since they bought the park several years ago. The Place looks like crap from RT 43 because of this when you drive by the park. Â The Space Needle ride has been in the same position for the past 3 years. Â They yanked the monorail. Â And for all these changes and deletions, we got CornHole?
napster1619 Posted August 18, 2007 Posted August 18, 2007 flying i agree with most of what you say but the two out of the three times i have gone there this summer the place was packed, but i can see the place turning the corner this year or next. back on topic i really do think this will be a huge signature ride for the Wonderland.
BeemerBoy Posted August 18, 2007 Posted August 18, 2007 and with the Beemer footers already poured, it make sme lean even further with the relocation of Dominator  Those are definitely B&M footers.  Have you guys personally spoken with the footers? I'm just wondering if they gave you the inside scoop that they're B&M's?    Scott "I think I remember people speculating that Maverick's footers were B&M as well" B.
dandaman Posted August 18, 2007 Posted August 18, 2007 I'm still always amazed that all my friends rave about how awesome Top Gun and the Bat are. Â They have no idea why I'm muttering "stupid clones" under my breath. Â In any case, I still want to go there, if only for the credit whoring. Maybe this new B&M / Intamin / who-the-hell-cares-it's-a-bloody-roller-coaster-for-God's-sake will spur a trip next summer. Â Dan "Canadian coaster-less since '99" Smith
FeelTheFORCE Posted August 18, 2007 Posted August 18, 2007 Â Those are definitely B&M footers. Â Have you guys personally spoken with the footers? I'm just wondering if they gave you the inside scoop that they're B&M's? Â Â Â Scott "I think I remember people speculating that Maverick's footers were B&M as well" B. Â I examined them and looked at many other pictures before I made that statement. Unless Intamin, or any other company has drastically changed their footer design, they are B&M.
dougr Posted August 19, 2007 Posted August 19, 2007 Here's what I got from our visit during the August long weekend: Here's picture number 2. I don't think they're quite as massive as some of the Tatsu footers... Took these while in the line for Italian Job-here's picture 1
Airtime&Gravity Posted August 19, 2007 Posted August 19, 2007 Im guessing it's an out and back, so something along the lines of Nitro or Goliath(SFoG) would be great for the park. However, since it will probably be a B&M at a CF park, hopefully it is not over trimmed, and with some luck, it will have airtime. I just hope this is a sign of things to come since Canada's Wonderland, being North America's most visited seasonal amusement park, has a very mediocre coaster selection.
xX-Linde-Xx Posted August 19, 2007 Posted August 19, 2007 Anyone else notice the little splash's on the countdown
Airtime&Gravity Posted August 19, 2007 Posted August 19, 2007 Aquatrax! Â Considering it said 18 months of planning and construction and that it is the parks largest coaster, it is highly unlikely that that is the case. Plus Canada's Wonderland seems to have a good selection of coasters for the family anyway. This park desperately needs a good coaster, and building a large hyper is going in a good direction. This park has a lot of potential, and if CF actually invests in it, unlike Paramount, it can only get better.
ECZenith Posted August 19, 2007 Posted August 19, 2007 Does Busch have exclusive rights to the water splash on their dive machines by any chance?
supermanrosfan0810 Posted August 19, 2007 Posted August 19, 2007 I don't see why people think they are B&M footers. I was looking at the footers for B&M's like Apollos Chariot, Nitro, Dominator, Scream and more and they're all square in shape. Then I looked at the footers for Intamins like Colossus, The Rides of steel and maverick and they're all circular like the ones in the picture. I'm leaning towards an Intamin here.
FeelTheFORCE Posted August 19, 2007 Posted August 19, 2007 They are B&M footers because if you look at the second picture above, there are only 4 bolts on the footers, and they are very close to the center. Â All Intamin footers I have seen have at least 6 bolts, that are positioned at the very edge of the footer.
supermanrosfan0810 Posted August 19, 2007 Posted August 19, 2007 It's just weird bacause I don't recall any B&M footers being circular. They look like Mavericks footers with a different bolt configuration.
Tanks4me05 Posted August 19, 2007 Posted August 19, 2007 All B&M Hyper Footers are square. For Intamin Hypers, Ride of Steel and Expedition Ge Force have Square and Circular Footers. (Thunder Dolphin has some circular footers, along with building rooftops and steel framework being used, also.) However, Millennium Force has circular footers only, and since the only footers I have seen so far are circular, I think there are three major possibilities:   B&M Hyper Coaster  Reasons:  1: Bolt configuration as someone who mentioned before was of B&M style and not Intamin. 2: Semi confirmed by Screamscape to be so.  Intamin Giga Coaster  Reasons:  1: "18 months of planning and construction" sounds more of a HUGE project like a Giga Coaster instead of a large project like a Hyper Coaster. 2: Only footers seen are circular, MF has circular only footers, and of the three choices, is the only coaster with circular footers only. 3: A Giga Coaster would give the park an edge over Darien Lake and give it in competition with Cedar Point (although it is in the same chain as Cedar Point.)  Intamin Hyper Coaster  Reasons:  1: Circular footers are used, but not all are poured, so some of them could be square, which square and circular footers is a trait on two of the Intamin Hyper Coasters.  2: Hyper Coasters, although still very expensive, are a bit cheaper and more popular (more have been built.)  Personally, I think any one of these can happen. Oh well, only one week to go until the official announcement, and I have Seabreeze and the New York State Fair to keep me occupied until then. (And Sylvan Beach after.)
Scaparri Posted August 19, 2007 Posted August 19, 2007 Intamin Giga Coaster  Reasons:  1: "18 months of planning and construction" sounds more of a HUGE project like a Giga Coaster instead of a large project like a Hyper Coaster.  I think you underestimate how long it takes to plan a custom coaster.  3: A Giga Coaster would give the park an edge over Darien Lake and give it in competition with Cedar Point (although it is in the same chain as Cedar Point.)  You canceled yourself out there, Chief.  I'm guessing an average sized hyper. Right around 200 ft tall, maybe 5000 ft long. That's my prediciton.
Shockwave Posted August 19, 2007 Posted August 19, 2007 ^Thank you Scott! Â ^^My back garden has an edge over Darien Lake. Â It's not like they're even competing with them anyway, they're going on 200 miles apart, and not that many Canada's Wonderland's only main competition are the attractions around Toronto, not any other theme parks. Â Personally, I think any one of these can happen. Â That was the most important part of the above post. Â If you're really that much into bolt configurations, I hope you're getting paid for that.
dandaman Posted August 19, 2007 Posted August 19, 2007 Canada's Wonderland's only main competition are the attractions around Toronto, not any other theme parks. Â ...In other words, they have to build a coaster taller than the CN Tower before anyone's happy.
FeelTheFORCE Posted August 19, 2007 Posted August 19, 2007 Intamin Giga Coaster  Reasons:  1: "18 months of planning and construction" sounds more of a HUGE project like a Giga Coaster instead of a large project like a Hyper Coaster.  I think you underestimate how long it takes to plan a custom coaster.  Yes, even if it is a B&M hyper, it probably takes just as long to plan. Also, this would be Cedar Fair's first ever B&M hyper, so I would assume the planning would take a little longer than a park chain that already has one or more, because it's a new style for them.   One last thing, wasn't there a rumor a while back that CW was supposed to get a TTD clone?
RollerC Posted August 19, 2007 Posted August 19, 2007 I don't get why everyone is assuming this is gonna be a coaster over 300ft tall. I see this coaster being from 150-200 feet tall.
ginzo Posted August 19, 2007 Posted August 19, 2007 I think the footers are for Elvis to stand on when he reveals that he's still alive.
larrygator Posted August 19, 2007 Posted August 19, 2007 Elvis was stationed in Germany - that settles it. It must be B&M.
Jive Posted August 19, 2007 Posted August 19, 2007 The bolt pattern is very telling but the shape of the footer doesn't mean much. When Patriot's footers were going in everyone claimed that B&M was out because they were round. I think that it all depends on the company that's brought in to build the thing.
