crispy Posted February 6, 2007 Posted February 6, 2007 I drove by Cliff's today and looked over at the rattler, only to see the steel track off the wood, and new wood down, I will try to take a picture, but I did not have a camera with me, I rode it last year, and there were a few spots that were starting to get rough, but nothing like alot of coasters I've been on, you know, the ones that hurt Its nice to see Cliff's keeping up thier coaster, as soon as I get pics, I will post them here UPDATE, Got some pics UPDATE, Cliffs has installed three new rides. along with retracking the Rattler, which appears to be completed or very close They removed the Yo-Yo, but got one of those Frisbee rides, they call it the Sidewinder, they also added two new kiddie rides WWW.CLIFS.NET These guys are working on the entire coaster, can't wait till April New wood that has been placed on the first hill after the first drop Looks like they are working hard A trackless first drop Anyone need a job, and I know when they are opening the new sidewinder, will be fun going over the water in one of these
robbalvey Posted February 6, 2007 Posted February 6, 2007 That's great news! Hopefully we can make it back there at some point soon! --Robb
crispy Posted February 6, 2007 Author Posted February 6, 2007 It would be great to see you two again, and probably three with kidtums, lol, I PROMISE I will get a pic, hopefully today
ebl Posted February 6, 2007 Posted February 6, 2007 I've never been to Cliff's (one day), but it appears that they're doing what some of the Big Boys don't---maintaining their wooden coaster. The fact is, you have to replace wood on those things, and you don't have to wait till the ride's ten years old to do so. Kudos to Cliff's! Eric
Thrillrider15 Posted February 6, 2007 Posted February 6, 2007 It's always good to hear a coaster to be made smoother. I sure hope what you say is true. You don't want to kill a good roller coaster.

DerekRx Posted February 7, 2007 Posted February 7, 2007 I was wondering what kind of condition I could expect to see the Rattler in when I finally have a chance to get out there to ride it. It's always a good thing to see a park really showing some lovin' to it's pride and joy coasters.
crispy Posted February 9, 2007 Author Posted February 9, 2007 Updated with pics, can't wait till April
robbalvey Posted February 9, 2007 Posted February 9, 2007 Any idea on who's doing the re-tracking work?
crispy Posted February 9, 2007 Author Posted February 9, 2007 I have no idea, but considering how it went last time they delt with a coaster company, I would bet they may be handling it by themselves, and possibly getting advise from Gravity Group, but that it pure speculation. I'll see if I can Find out, and also a completion date
CP_RULES Posted February 9, 2007 Posted February 9, 2007 Its great to see some CCIs getting some love. Their coasters really were great, but the way they were designed with small lead-ins and lead-outs (and low banking), they seemed to get torn up fairly quick..... I just wish SF would get smart and re-track Boss! Oh well, at least Cliffs is smart.
nasai Posted February 9, 2007 Posted February 9, 2007 This pleases me to NO end, as I'm going to NM for my first trip there in 14 years this coming July. Thank God for small miracles.
crispy Posted February 9, 2007 Author Posted February 9, 2007 To whomever is going to come to NM, let me know, It would be great fun to meet someone from TPR at Cliffs
Canadmos Posted February 9, 2007 Posted February 9, 2007 I just moved to Colorado last summer, so I plan on going this year sometime. Probably towards the end of the season though as I'm moving yet again in June to another place just south of Denver. I can't wait to ride Rattler, it looks awesome and with this news it makes it even better!
TheGreatOne Posted February 9, 2007 Posted February 9, 2007 Glad to see NM Rattler getting some TLC. It was a really fun ride that had outstanding pacing. It was well worth the travel from Phoenix to get there.
TheArchfiend Posted February 9, 2007 Posted February 9, 2007 Man, I regret not riding this coaster when I lived in Albuquerque. Stupid job out there kept me so busy and tired that I just never got around to going to Cliff's eventhough I drove past it every day.
crispy Posted March 18, 2007 Author Posted March 18, 2007 HOLY CRAP!!! Not only are they retracking the Rattler, they are also adding three rides, or actually replacing, as the yo-yo is gone, and in its place is one of those swinging spinning disks, where you sit on the outside edge, AWESOME!!, the other rides apear to be kiddie rides The best thing about the new ride, "the Sidewinder" is, as most of you know the yo-yo was surrounded by water, and so is the sidewinder, you will be swinging out over the water, that should be fun! WWW.CLIFFS.NET they have a small pic of the ride, I can't wait untill April 7th, prepare for my annual photo TR of Cliff's
USCoaster Posted March 19, 2007 Posted March 19, 2007 After CCI self-destructed in the middle of construction, didn't Cliff's essentially finish the coaster in-house? If so, they should have a good idea of how to retrack the ride. I think its great that the smaller parks are interested in keeping their rides in good condition.
coasterlover420 Posted March 19, 2007 Posted March 19, 2007 It's always good to hear a coaster to be made smoother. I sure hope what you say is true. You don't want to kill a good roller coaster. Considering that NM Rattler is already one of the smoothest woodies I've ever seen!
PKI Jizzman Posted March 19, 2007 Posted March 19, 2007 Sweet news, that would be awesome to ride Delirium over water, so lucky you guys! Sidewinder will be a great addition, and Rattler looks great!
TC Ridesalot Posted March 19, 2007 Posted March 19, 2007 Why doesn't somebody at Ceder Fair look at this and retrack Timber Wolf!
Dailey Enterprizes Posted March 19, 2007 Posted March 19, 2007 ^ & most of their other wooden coasters. I mean I know it must be hard to maintain these coasters, but why is it that some parks can take care of their wooden coasters while others can't? My guess is money...
coasterlover420 Posted March 19, 2007 Posted March 19, 2007 Yeah, it doesn't look as fun, but we'll se on April 7th...
crispy Posted April 7, 2007 Author Posted April 7, 2007 I will be going to Cliff's today, I try to take some pics, and do a short opening day TR, and let you guys know how the Rattler is running with its new track, can't wait
crispy Posted April 8, 2007 Author Posted April 8, 2007 it was REALLY cold today, and it actually snowed, so I did not go to Cliff's, it was in the 70's yesterday oh well, I'll make it out for sure next weekend
