Coasterkid20 Posted May 3, 2005 Posted May 3, 2005 Here is the last update from Gravity Group. I don't wwant to get my hopes up to much but this ride looks simply INCREDIBLE! http://www.thegravitygroup.com/hades/index05.htm
CoasterCrazy Posted May 3, 2005 Posted May 3, 2005 Those pictures are aweosme and Hades looks like it could be one of the best wooden coasters ever built. I just wish I didn't have to wait until next summer to ride it.
SharkTums Posted May 3, 2005 Posted May 3, 2005 For the 293874th time... This ride better be as good as it looks! Elissa "grrrr...want August to come now!" Alvey
Token Yankee Guy Posted May 4, 2005 Posted May 4, 2005 ^ Don't worry Elissa, I'm going to the Dells before you so I'll make sure to post my thoughts of the coaster. As for the pictures of the tunnel... my jaw dropped when I saw that 90 degree banking.
BiCoastal Kid Posted May 4, 2005 Posted May 4, 2005 OKay, so, I have a few things I wanna get out there about the turn... The turn is either going to really awesome, or really terrible. Looking at the way it banks, it doesn't appear to rise enough to bank evenly, which would mean you'll fall into the banking to be yanked upward(sideways) out of it. I'm hoping that they more laterally curved than it appears to be. Also, the turn on the inside of it is pretty lightly banked, which leads me to believe that either that turn is gonna have extremely heavy lats, or that the 90 degree trun will be taken a tad too slowly and you'll hang... Either way, the turn will be somewhat bipolar. If your ride has the train shufle down, your gonna get a good joly, but if you shuffle up the turn will be awesome. The rest of the ride look EXCELLENT, I'm still a tad worried about that banking though.
coaster1 Posted May 4, 2005 Posted May 4, 2005 Holy crap that's a huge tunnel ... sheesh .. one thing is this will prolly be heavy on the lats, like most late CCI's (ie: Legend) .. that's a very good thing, but this thing just looks incredible.
socalMAN123 Posted May 4, 2005 Posted May 4, 2005 That 90 degree turn looks so awesome! I wish good woodie like that would come to Socal sometime soon. DLR could use a wooden coaster! ---Brent 8)
Canobie Fan Posted May 4, 2005 Posted May 4, 2005 Wooo... June 2005... I cant wait to ride Hades and Avalance
the_rock401 Posted May 4, 2005 Posted May 4, 2005 After seeing this round of pictures, I am seriously considering going down to the Dells Memorial weekend just for that. Holy crap!
CoasterFanatic Posted May 4, 2005 Posted May 4, 2005 Er ... That has to be more than 90 degrees. http://www.thegravitygroup.com/hades/pages/47.htm // Been hearing 93, but who knows
pgathriller Posted May 4, 2005 Posted May 4, 2005 That coaster looks cool! I also think it will be one of the best woodies out there!
Scaparri Posted May 4, 2005 Posted May 4, 2005 I think I dislocated my jaw. I WILL be making a trip to the Dells this year. Maybe this summer, maybe this fall, but it's happening. Simply stunning. Can't wait to read a review on this ride. I'm with Elissa though and I just hope that it's as good as it looks.
kenshinmac Posted May 4, 2005 Posted May 4, 2005 I need to go to the Dells... Heck I need to do the survey for your trips still... Hmm maybe a Dells trip...
Sir Clinksalot Posted May 4, 2005 Posted May 4, 2005 HOLY SH*T!!!! That has to be the most amazing looking coaster ever. If it rides half as good as it looks it will be amazing. I think we may have to join R&E on their Dells trip this year.
CoasterEricHP Posted May 4, 2005 Posted May 4, 2005 WTF???? Wooden coasters can DO THAT?? Good lord. This coaster looks amazing. You would never guess that the lift hill and the hill wayyy over there were the same coaster. Eric
Coasterkid20 Posted May 4, 2005 Author Posted May 4, 2005 Here is a random observation. All of the pics of the underground tunnel show the same section of track, the insane turn, and the little hops. I personally think that there is a LOT more going under there then what is being shown! I personally want to be kept in the dark too, I want to ride it not knowing what to expect while in the tunnel.
coaster1 Posted May 4, 2005 Posted May 4, 2005 I think your right .. the distance between the lift/drop and the turn-around section is pretty large .. I'm hoping for some more suprises and pitch blackness .. would make it that much better.
robbeal Posted May 4, 2005 Posted May 4, 2005 There does seem to be quite an expense of the ride in that tunnel. If you look at the gap across the carpark to where the tunnel comes back out, it's quite a way, and with at least 1 corner in there, and a severe one at that, it's going to be a very fun part of the ride surely. Damn Wisconsin for being so far away from all other parks! Can't really make a worthwhile trip to it from over here, unless I include Chicago, which isn't that nearby.
benji Posted May 4, 2005 Posted May 4, 2005 http://www.thegravitygroup.com/hades/pages/47.htm Nasty boy ! He was putting glue on the track...
bgwfreak Posted May 4, 2005 Posted May 4, 2005 http://www.thegravitygroup.com/hades/pages/47.htm ^^ How is that possible on a woody?
nemesis-storm Posted May 4, 2005 Posted May 4, 2005 I know RCDB says that Hades will have a 5 car PTC train. Does anyone know, if its going to be a standard train design? The airtime this coaster is going to give will be fantastic & that banked curve  Paul "Is it going to be the new Shivering Timbers ?" Chapman
CoasterFanatic Posted May 4, 2005 Posted May 4, 2005 http://www.thegravitygroup.com/hades/pages/47.htm ^^ How is that possible on a woody? It is only possible with steel support or a tunnel of course.

I personally think that wooden coasters feel like they go about 1 1/2 times faster then what they say they do. For Example: While riding a steel and wood coaster close together, like Villain and Dominator, I actually feel like more is demanded on you on Villain. To sum up what I'm trying to say, I think that turn will kick so much ass, and I'll bet it will be intense.
