YoshiFan Posted November 16, 2006 Posted November 16, 2006 I went to 2 different Best Buy stores today and both stores had people camping with tents and everything. I wonder if anyone in those lines actually are getting the systems for themselves or just for EBay.
Sir Clinksalot Posted November 16, 2006 Posted November 16, 2006 There is about 8 - 10 tents in front of FRY's in Woodland Hills, we could see them from work. EDIT: Looks like Walmart will be offering midnight sales for both the Wii and PS3. Might be a good choice since most people are going to places like Best Buy and Circuit City. Of course, once this info get's out ... it's anybody's game. Wii: * Software and accessories are not street dated, stores can put those out upon receipt * Price is $249.24 (75 cents cheaper and matches NeoGaf poster price) * 11/16, Wii product will arrive direct to Wal-Mart stores. Same day, the accessories for Wii will be set out * 11/18, at 10PM, tickets will be passed out for midnight sales * Start selling Wii on 11/19 at 12:01AM PS3: * Software and accessories are not street dated, stores can put those out upon receipt * 11/9, PS3 peripherals will start shipping to stores * 11/11, PS3 interactives (kiosks) will be in final install stages at stores * 11/14, PS3 software will start to ship * 11/16, PS3 arrives in stores * At 10PM or earlier on 11/16 employees will pass out tickets for midnight sales. * Start selling PS3 pm 11/17 at 12:01AM
fanatix Posted November 16, 2006 Posted November 16, 2006 I went to 3 different targets, 3 different walmarts and 2 best buys today. All had lines except for 2 of the targets. Most targets in my area are not allowing people to line up until Friday morning at 1 am. Tomorrow (actually later today) I am going to go check out a compusa and then my brother and I are going to see if we can get in line at one of those targets. We were 10th in line at the target that was allowing people to wait in line. But then they announced that they were only going to have 6 PS3. So we left.
CoasterJunkie Posted November 16, 2006 Posted November 16, 2006 So I stopped in the local Walmart yesterday..No line, but the PS3 they had on display was locked up..not a good sign. They also were putting up a sign saying they were only getting 10 PS3's total on launch day...WOW...10...that sucks for anyone coming in at 12:30 or so..
TatsuXtreme Posted November 16, 2006 Posted November 16, 2006 i need the wii! i cant wait anymore! i can... i can freeze myself! haha for those prices for the ps3? i say SCREW THAT!
Cameron Posted November 16, 2006 Posted November 16, 2006 ^^^ Target will probably be the best place to pick these up, since everyone flocks to "real" electronic stores .. no-one really thinks about Target. When the 360 came out, I had several friends who just strolled into Target on (or just after) launch day, and found several boxes just sitting there. Cameron (Wii will, Wii will, rock you) Silver.
mcjaco Posted November 16, 2006 Posted November 16, 2006 ^ Depends on the Target. My buddy is a manager for the electronics department at a Target in Plainfield. He said the 360 was gone within minutes, although they only had 10. He said he was impressed with the PS3 graphics, but it still has the typical PS loading. At one point, he actually thought it froze on him it took so long. The X-Box was the last system I bought of the last generation, I'll neve go back. I loved it, and I considered myself a PS2 fanboy. Good luck to all the tools waiting in line.
Florida420 Posted November 16, 2006 Posted November 16, 2006 Wii: * Software and accessories are not street dated, stores can put those out upon receipt Not entirely true, the stuff from Nintendo, the Wii-mote, Nunchuck, Classic Controller, Wii points card, LoZTP, Excite Truck, are all street dated for the 19th. Which kind of sucks because we don't really have many of them IMO, only 28 Zeldas, only 4 Classics, 8 Wii-motes, but more are on the way. I might have to stash a Zelda somewhere, cuz I plan on strolling up there at midnight, and it will surely sell out. We had people waiting last night and we even told them we where only giving out 10 rain checks, because we had no systems coming....they waited anyway. We went from getting 11 to getting 0, then getting 4, which we got in this morning 2-20 gig, 2-60 gig and at least 15 people waiting as of now. Suckers BTW we are still waiting for 30 more Wii, I hope they come tomorrow or I am sht outta luck with getting mine. Then I guess I'll be the sucker.
Chase Posted November 16, 2006 Posted November 16, 2006 The only reason why I would consider getting a PS3 is for Metal Gear Solid 4, but thats not a good enough reason, therefore it is too much Money and not worth it at the moment. The XBox 360!
Robgraves Posted November 16, 2006 Posted November 16, 2006 i want a wii... but no way in hell am i buying a ps3... today i went past circuit city and saw the line in fron... i could help myself... i rolled down my window and yelled... "SNAPE KILLS DUMBLEDORE!!" i have never seen so many confused faces... it wasn't quite as fun as driving home from zero hour last year taunting all the people in line at every store i passed with my 360.... but tonight... tonight brings the water balloons....

SharkTums Posted November 16, 2006 Posted November 16, 2006 Ok, so I have a serious question for all of our members that work at a place that is selling the Wii/Accessories. Can I buy a controller and nunchuk today or tomorrow? I'm going to have my Wii on Friday and I'll be pretty pissed if Robb and I can only take turns until Sunday! Also, aren't some of the games out already? I'd like to at least pick up Monkey Ball (not into Zelda). Thanks for your help!
man Posted November 17, 2006 Posted November 17, 2006 you know Elissa not trying to be mean but you can just call and ask. Although I would guess that you would have to wait. Anyways I am planning to camp out saterday to sunday in front of a circuit city. Checking 3 times saterday (morning lunch and afternoon) then camping out if someone is there or just wakeing up at 2 or 3 and going there.

I really hope you get your a$$ kicked. no... the people who deserve an a$$ kicking are the people who are camping out for days for a VIDEO GAME SYSTEM. Which, in essence, is just a further excuse for them to further contribute less to society. This is like when we would camp out for concert tickets.. as that was something that was gonna happen once.. not something where another shipment will be in in a few weeks. Yes, i game... but i would NEVER sit in a line all night for a system... if i lived in communist russia and needed to wait in line for bread that would be worthwhile.. waiting in line for a game system where the launch units will be plagued with issues anyway... is just... well... pathetic. and a little fun never hurt anyone, not even if it comes in the form of water balloons on a nice cold evening
Slacking Posted November 17, 2006 Posted November 17, 2006 Elissa, sounds like you won't be able to get your Wii remote and nunchuck until Sunday at the earliest. Monkey Ball is on the shelves though, I bought mine yesterday!

Have an opinion but you have no right to enforce it. Wait in line for a coaster, what, it's going to get boring eventually, lets go hit you with water balloons, sound like a plan? If you're willing to throw water balloons at people because they "have no life" you're the one who really doesn't. There was a drive-by shooting at people waiting for the PS3 with a pellet gun, I just recently found out at www.talkvideogames.com

Unless you know someone willing to break the Nintendo law, or stores that don't care about street dates, or they just don't know any better and slip up like they did when they sold the DS lites early. But other than that, every thing from Nintendo, controllers, games, point cards, are street dated the same as the Wii, sorry. But you can get SMBBB, or any other game you want right now!! except Excite Truck or Zelda. Cant Robb sneak a Wii-mote away from work for the weekend?? we wont tell
okinawaboy11 Posted November 17, 2006 Posted November 17, 2006 Personally camping out? It's a tad cold here in MD and you'll look like fools in 30 degree weather. I'm glad no one is Camping out for the Wii. They're all there for the PS3. I hope the PS3 fails miserabally.
SharkTums Posted November 17, 2006 Posted November 17, 2006 Yeah I called a few places and they won't budge...I'll tell Robb to steal one for the week (since we're going away!) he better do it, or else he'll be watching me play for 10 days! BTW, the cool thing to do in California is pay the homeless to wait in line for you! It's pretty scary!
BiCoastal Kid Posted November 17, 2006 Posted November 17, 2006 My bf is camping out waiting for ps3.... granted, he only started today sio it's not as bad the guy thats been there since tuesday night. I went to visit him for moral support.

Bush985 Posted November 17, 2006 Posted November 17, 2006 I went by Wal Mart today and saw the long line which had already formed for the PS3. I'm gonna stick with my 360 for a while. I just got it a few weeks ago and I'm loving it. I think I'll get a Wii next. Elissa, I worked at Best Buy last year for the 360 launch, most stores will hold all accessories and games until launch day to make sure the people actually getting systems will get the product too. It stinks, but you may have to wait until Sunday to get your second controller. Good Luck -RD

Cant Robb sneak a Wii-mote away from work for the weekend?? we wont tell Those pesky Wal-Mart (where you work, correct?) cash registers won't let you buy something pre-street date. My local Wal-mart stocked their shelves w/ Excite Truck and Zelda. Out of interest, I asked for a copy of Zelda (along with Rayman ), and the Zelda wouldn't ring up because it was before the 19th. Smart registers, lol. It was funny though, the employee looked annoyed, sighed, and stated that his manager did that all the time (stock shelves with pre-street date merchandise). Looks like my launch lineup for Wii will be Sports (duh), Monkey Ball, Rayman, Marvel: Ultimate Alliance, and hopefully Zelda.
Bush985 Posted November 17, 2006 Posted November 17, 2006 The Wal Mart I was at today had PS3 games in the shelves. I was quite suprised. -RD
