P. 275: "Spring Exposition" festival announced!

Sorry for the double post, but this is a completely different subject. Just got my SDC Times in the mail today detailing season pass info for 2016.

SDC passes will be $75 child, $85 adult, $79 senior. Add on White water and the combo pass is $95 child, $126 adult, $110 senior. I believe that's no change from this year.

New is a season preferred parking pass for $32 and a season Trailblazer pass for $150.

Also revealed is that 2016 will be the last year for World Fest, and there are two new festivals, Heroes' Month in September and Founders' Weekend (no word on when that is yet). Season pass holders will get 1 hour early entry May 31-June 10, and those are BAFF dates as well (vouchers given if you purchase before 12/30).

^ Ok, this may be completely off base, and I know it is very wild speculation. Founders month......

When DW announced the Dream More Resort, they had a founders club to coincide with construction info and exclusive perks and discounts. Perhaps SDC will be getting a similar resort? And a large investment (B&M Coaster) to go with it?

Please don't be too harsh on me lol! I know that I may have reached on that one.

I think you have a very good speculation, but I expect the coaster to come before the resort unlike DW.

2017 will be a big year for the park.

Bold claim, considering that 2013 brought Outlaw Run and 2015 brought Fireman's Landing. Elaborate.

Speaking of admission deaals, the best deal at SDC is showing up after a certain hour of the afternoon or evening (which varies depending on closing time), paying full price for the rest of the evening, and getting to come back the next day for free.

I live 4 hours away, so I will drive down around 10 on a Tuesday, stay at SDC until close which is usually about 3 or 4 hours worth of hanging out, go back to the park at opening the next day, stay 8 hours or so, and be back home by mid to late Wednesday evening.

About 60 bucks admission, 90 bucks for a hotel, and 50 bucks for gas. A nice little two-day escape for a couple hundred dollars...

^Dude, Allan Schilke is a mad man! He probably added crazy stuff like that just to mess with coaster enthusiasts minds!

It's a counter balance, the coaster will collapse if the extensions are removed.

See, now this is proper coaster enthusiast speculation. Thank you Larry!

I'll elaborate for him. Outlaw Run was the first of three major additions planned for SDC, Fireman's Landing was the second, and now we wait for the third. While I'm not sure if 2017 is the year, something big is coming and it's probably not too far away.

Quote from this thread on July 4, 2012:

According to Swoosh that runs Midwestinfo guide this is the first of three major projects at SDC and the cheapest. The second he sez offers some relocations from Celebration City and thinks the third may be a next gen Mystery Mine. Interested to see what makes the second phase more expensive than just moving two small scale rides from CC.

Swoosh sure was right about the second installation, and three years prior to its opening at that. Time will tell, but I think 2017 is likely a safe bet.

Fair enough. Though, if it is really a "next-gen" Mystery Mine, I hope that in a few years it will be in a better condition than Mystery Mine at Dollywood, because 70% of that coaster is one of the worst coasters I've ever ridden (the other 30% being pretty good).

Mystery Mine project (though SDC's was to be themed to an Ice House) was scrapped.

This time they are going with B&M.

This year is mild changes, but you'll see a major new access road constructed for Echo Hollow so the "bigger names" they are bringing in for concerts now can bring in their tour buses more easily.

2017 will see a mild retheming of Grand Expo and that large new coaster, though uncertain if it will also be in GE area.

Do we know all of this for sure (as in has it been confirmed), or is it just speculation... Because I feel like its the latter.

If you're looking for an official statement from the park you won't find one released to the GP if that's what you're asking.

All I'm saying is that a source for what you claim is happening at the park would be great. Until then... It's just speculation.

I could say that SDC is getting a 794.6ft tall Aqua Trax, multi-looping, Dive Machine... but that means nothing without proof.

Gerstlauer's been in a lot of hot water lately. If this project comes true and will be in fact a B&M, it screams Invert to me. It's something that the park doesn't have yet and could work well with their terrain.

My vote goes to a B&M Flyer. That's something the park doesn't have yet. It would work really well with the terrain, and (I think) it would be a little more family friendly than an Invert.

Not with a 54" height restriction it won't. If they're looking for a family-accessible attraction, a big bad B&M is out of the picture because all types are at least 52" except for the new family inverted coaster.

Fi-re-cha-ser. Fi-re-cha-ser. Fi-re-cha-ser. My goodness, I want more of those things in the world.

That would be a good fit too!

SDC already has one B&M, a 2nd isn't a huge stretch as the maintenance staff loves how WildFire is a lot less temperamental then say... PowderKeg (and even Outlaw Run to some extent)

I'm still hoping for a B&M Flyer... But that's just me.

I wouldn't be surprised if we get a B&M Wing coaster. I'd like that or a B&M Invert. I don't think I'd be overly excited for a B&M Flyer, even though I've never been on one. There could also be a fairly decent chance for a B&M Hyper at SDC. If SDC got that maybe it would give SF the nudge they need to put one in at SFStL lol!
