medusa v.s Scream

I was just wondering if there really is a differnce between Medusa and Scream. I have only rode scream and thought it was an ok B&M.

Medusa at SFGAdv and Scream! are mirror image.

Medusa at SFMW is a different layout.

I would choose Medusa over Scream

Yeah it's pretty funky.

 

Also, the stop is straight, rather than turning, so there's some airtime if you ride in the back couple rows.

 

And the corkscrews are non-interlocking.

 

I personally like SFMW Medusa over the other 2 floorless I've been on (Scream! and dominator).

I havent been on both so I have to go with Medusa cause my friend said Scream was rough.

I thought Scream's parking lot theme was very authentic with the white lines and all. I rode both not that long ago, and I would give my vote to Medusa for better scenery, you could watch the monkey's as you are going up the lift. Neither were rough when I rode them, albeit I only rode them both at the front.

 

I don't recall either of them being noticeably braked except at the usual mid course, anyone have an opinion on the braking?

 

Medusa in San Fran is a lot bigger, and looks like one of the best if not the best floorless?

My uncle suggested they should have themed Scream to a taxi ride...maybe that would osmehow come close to justifying the parking lines...

Having been on Medusa countless times and Scream twice, I can say Medusa (east) is definitely smoother, especially in the back. Scream just has this weird vibrating throughout the ride anywhewre you sit.

There is no reason a B&M floorless should make the noises or vibrations that Scream does. //Shudder

I've ridden Scream twice (once in back, once in middle), and I found it to be relatively smooth for the most part. The main exception is that at the bottom of the first drop, it was vibrating in a way almost like a woodie... the rest seemed pretty smooth.

I think Scream is a good ride...if it was at a smaller park it would definetly be a big draw...themeing would help too, but its hard to stand out at MM. Medusa at Marine World is a great ride that really hauls through the elements. Great airtime and the first drop is amazing. The seaserpent looks cool, but is a bit awkward when you go through it.

I can only say that compared to Medusa @ SFMW, Scream is VERY rough.

 

Actually, out of the 12 or so B&M's that I can think of off the top of my head that I have been on, Scream was the roughest with the exception of Vortex @ PGA.

 

I still think Scream is a good ride, just not very smooth for a B&M.

Scream and Medusa @ SFGAM have a first drop into a turn. Medusa at SFMW has a really great straight first drop, and is a very smooth ride. There are sections where you can see the old parking lot it was built on. Scream is a little rough but I enjoy that ride. They are great B&M's each with their own unique traits. Medusa at SFMW was the first to have a 'sea serpent' element- I do not know if there are any others that have this.

Hmm... I just rode my first floorless two weekends ago, Hydra at Dorney Park. I found it to vibrate a lot also. Is this common of floorless coasters, or just peculiar to Hydra and Scream?

I found Scream to be rough and unpleasant. It's one of a very select few B&Ms that I found unpleasant due to vibration and roughness. Medussa west I found superb. It's a tough call between Medussa and Superman Krypton Coaster as to which is my favourite Floorless.

It's real shame SFMM couldn't even be bothered to burn off the white lines of the parking lot. Fair enough if they can't afford any themeing or land scaping but it would cost very little to at least make it look less like a parking lot.

I've heard this before as well, but the three I've been on have all been very smooth. Kraken at SeaWorld was like glass, Daemonen at Tivoli Gardens was very smooth and Superman at Warner Bros. Movie World Madrid was also mostly smooth as far as I can remember. Robb did mention that when filming Superman, a bit of vibration did come out on the POV.

^Yeah Superman has 2 rough spots: bottom of the first drop and between the first and second inversion.

Last I rode Scream it was vibratious, and I thought Dominator at Geauga Lake seemed to rattle quite a bit for a B&M also. Last week I rode SFMW Medusa several times, and it was still as smooth as can be. (Their SLC is awesome too! )

This B&M "rattle/shuffling" isn't uncommon. It's prevelant on a lot of recent B&M's...ones that I know of including SFoG's Goliath, Dominator, and Batman The Dark Knight.
