thrillrideseeker Posted October 9, 2006 Posted October 9, 2006 Today I had a petrson ask me what motivated me to ride roller coasters, and why I liked them so much! So I told them I am motivated by the experiance, and I like them so much because they are like nothing else. So I was wondering what motivates you all to ride, and why do you enjoy them so much or do you, and why do you keep going back for more?
Hercules Posted October 9, 2006 Posted October 9, 2006 It started out for the thrill and the rush. Now that thrill and rush are gone. It is just a way for me to get away from the real world and clear my head.

It is just a way for me to get away from the real world and clear my head. Really, the thrill and rush are gone for you? I just love riding the coasters. It's a whole lot of fun. It helps me to get my mind off of things that may be annoying me in my life, and hell if you need to scream, why not do it on a coaster? The rush and excitement are still there for me on some coasters and rides in general. Basically it's just awesome.
tacoking Posted October 9, 2006 Posted October 9, 2006 Now that thrill and rush are gone. It is just a way for me to get away from the real world and clear my head. Can't say it any better myself.
GMAN962 Posted October 9, 2006 Posted October 9, 2006 Well here's my best comprehension of it: It's a rush The wind in your hair The sheer speed THe forces on your body They overall make you feel good ('cept rough coasters) And most impotantly, they're FUN!!!
USRoadTripper Posted October 9, 2006 Posted October 9, 2006 The feeling I get from riding them makes me remember that I'm alive. -Julie
TheBannedKid Posted October 9, 2006 Posted October 9, 2006 Probably the engineering aspect...in combination with the feelings you experience while riding them.
Adriel Posted October 9, 2006 Posted October 9, 2006 Because I love the senastion when your body is being pushed to do something you aren't supposed to do, such as G-Force. Another thing is my parents will never let me visit ALL theme parks and if I visit wil be only once, usually. So I will never miss the chance!
PilotKefka Posted October 9, 2006 Posted October 9, 2006 Why? There are so many reasons.... I guess I can say its a "safe way to get high" , but also its to appreciate everything around me, by being a rider, its a way to thank the company, and the people that made this ride possible. I guess that why I ride
IceDragon Posted October 9, 2006 Posted October 9, 2006 its from having no control over your body thats my main reason. i also use rides to test my courage, see if i cant push it that one bit further riding old rides brings back cherished memories from childhood. also, being able to go 70mph in less than 2 seconds is the best feeling ever!! almost like a euphoria that should never end, and doesnt end until the day after.
Tömmioh Posted October 9, 2006 Posted October 9, 2006 I ride coasters for the rush, sensation of speed, because of the nice feeling, also to get away from everyday life and stress, and because most of them are fun.
asr Posted October 9, 2006 Posted October 9, 2006 The Airtime, the G-Forces, the speed, and of course, it sure beats sitting around all day
usagi Posted October 9, 2006 Posted October 9, 2006 I ride because a B&M flying through a sidewinder looks simply awesome. And also because it is nearly the only one useless engineering discipline, I just love absurd things...
ParkTrips Posted October 9, 2006 Posted October 9, 2006 In this hobby, I have to assume that by chicks you mean "queens"
tinflowers Posted October 9, 2006 Posted October 9, 2006 Well, it used to be about the rides and how they make me feel free, but now that I joined this site, its really just an excuse to take funny looking photo's of myself in front of them and post them on the web desguised as a Photo TR.
thomas2 Posted October 9, 2006 Posted October 9, 2006 Just for the speed and drops I like coaster with big drops more then those launched coasters. Drops are always really fun
DailyBugle_JL Posted October 9, 2006 Posted October 9, 2006 People on these boards are alot friendlier than all the guys in the anime and world of warcraft boards. I was just browsing the net while sitting at my computer and found this site, so now i like rollercoasters. It gives me something to think about besides the normal "what macros do i want to use and how do i want to spend my talent points this week" toughts. I also my motivation for coasters are girls like Elissa, Nicole, and Julie; who are all cool people. Hopefully oneday I will be able to meet all of them.
IwantRevenge Posted October 9, 2006 Posted October 9, 2006 I have many motivs to ride. My first is that i'm the kind of guy who gets picked on in school 24/7 not to mention outside of school I have anger problems, my parents can be very maddening and I ride rides to let all of that stress out, just one good scream on nitro with my hands up and all of those worrys go away, right then and there all I care about is having fun. Another reason is that I got addicted to the adrenaline rush that a coaster gives you on the launch/lift and I love the feeling now and the only way to keep getting it is by riding more and more and more. God I love coasters.
ImAPrincess Posted October 10, 2006 Posted October 10, 2006 Mostly it is to pick up chicks. Excuse me? I think you'll be hearing more about this one, Ted!
CoasterCrazy Posted October 10, 2006 Posted October 10, 2006 I like to ride thrill rides because I like traveling and visiting theme parks. Also, traveling alows you visit new places that you have never been to before.
FlyingScooter Posted October 10, 2006 Posted October 10, 2006 I go to parks and ride coasters because they're a fun diversion from everyday life. And as Ted pointed out , picking up chicks is another good reason.
