Golfie Posted August 21, 2006 Posted August 21, 2006 Yay! Only about 3 weeks until the track will be finished. Andrew "Now all we can do is... wait - oh, we're alredy doing that." C.
Carnage Posted August 21, 2006 Posted August 21, 2006 Seriously, have some of you actually watched this all day? Just curious. Yes and no. I find the construction interesting to watch. So I load the webcam from time to time at work. If I'm waiting for an application to load, waiting for an email, etc then I'll just flip over and see what's happening. It's not like I'm sitting at home watching it all day going "OMG another peice is going up!!". I just like to casually slack at work.
Carnage Posted August 21, 2006 Posted August 21, 2006 ^ That's the one thing I wondered about. With this webcam if they were to have an accident during construction there would be hundreds of people saving the pics of it. Be kind of hard to keep it quiet.
rcknrollercoast Posted August 21, 2006 Posted August 21, 2006 ^ that guy is just sittin on the track holding on for dear life! i would be scared shitless! can you imagine being at the top of TTD or kingda ka or MF when they are putting the tops together??
Carnage Posted August 21, 2006 Posted August 21, 2006 ^ I assume he's buckled in using a climbing harness. They're probably all used to working with high heights.

They're probably all used to working with high heights. harness or not, i would be scared out of my mind - and I am not afraid of heights either.. hanging 300 feet above the ground to an incomplete piece of scaffolding is a bit unnerving however
TheArchfiend Posted August 21, 2006 Posted August 21, 2006 Seriously, have some of you actually watched this all day? Just curious. Scott "and worried" B. I have! This action is intense!! And this hill is huge!! Like 50 feet! Wow, this is like way bigger than anything else in the park!! Earlier, this bird... get this... landed RIGHT ON THE TRACK!! Isn't that f'ing INSANE!?!? I can't believe they are showing this footage for free!
CP Dude Posted August 21, 2006 Posted August 21, 2006 If the anouncement is really when thay say it is, that totally rocks!!

I can't believe they are showing this footage for free! Shhhhhh. If they start charging for it, my life will be ruined. Ruined I tell ya!!
Carnage Posted August 21, 2006 Posted August 21, 2006 ^ What you mean you don't know about the private paid cam? It's not advertised on the website that clearly, but there's a premium service you can pay for. It features life streaming instead of the refresh every minute stuff. Plus there's multiple camera angles and the ability to pan the cameras. Totally wory every penny. I'll PM you the sign up address.
CKY Lunatic Posted August 21, 2006 Posted August 21, 2006 ^Prepare to have your PM box FILLED with messages from gullible fanboys.
Carnage Posted August 21, 2006 Posted August 21, 2006 ^ Oohh good point. Gotta clear some space. I actually hit 100% today, better clear some more space. Only the most dedicated fanboys though will get the link.
MilForSmurf Posted August 22, 2006 Posted August 22, 2006 I just got an email from Duane of www.rcdb.com about the announcement date, becuase i asked him how he knew when it was and he said That information was a posting error. Just ignore it. Duane
TheArchfiend Posted August 22, 2006 Posted August 22, 2006 ^ LOL!! My guess is that that error was intentional and hoping it would get all the fanboys into a frenzy over this stupid coaster announcement.
Xxhershey818xX Posted August 22, 2006 Posted August 22, 2006 Dude i just want conformation on what we think it is and soon!
jamesdillaman Posted August 22, 2006 Posted August 22, 2006 You can't ride it until next year anyway... James "just saying" Dillaman
FeelTheFORCE Posted August 22, 2006 Posted August 22, 2006 I think this will be an aquatrax cuz A. All the reasons explained above... B. Cedar Point will reach for speed and height and etc. If to reach that speed a coaster requires a Hydraulic Launch (for now only that technology has been able to not counting LSM and air launch) I don't think hydraulic launch can't be used underwater or really close to it for a long time because pf all of its mechanical parts... So instead maybe a LIM is being used instead just like Atlantis Adventure... If Cedar Point can't beat a record in height maybe they could have a record for the fastese water coaster or the first aquatrax in North America C. For cheese Just a thought... Not necessarily. You could easily reach speeds in excess of 120 mph using a 500+ foot lift hill, but that would require a LOT of land because going that fast you need tons of track for the train to run on at those speeds, i mean the next hill after the lift hill would have to be at least 400 feet, it would also require tons of supports and track which means that it would cost at least double TTD and MF ($25 mill) possibly more. Those are the reasons no one is doing it and sticking to launches..
jaap Posted August 22, 2006 Posted August 22, 2006 What suprises me the most with this ride is the speed they are building the damn thing. If they keep this rate up, it will be finished before the end of the year, 4 months before the 2007 opening.

No they wont, it may look as if they are going along pretty fast (which they are), but you have to put in perspective that after all the track and supports are placed there is still MANY more things they have to do. Such as, install all the censors, build a station, build a queline (sp?) and an exit ramp, plant grass and trees, put up signs, not to mention that the sandusky winters are pretty harsh (believe me I know, im not THAT far away) and once it gets colder they will have less days they are able to work because of the snow and cold. Also heres something to add. Click. (The Aug. 17th entry.)
