Valleyfair (VF) Discussion Thread

Mainly Park Services (my job) I think looping star ship actually gets decent ridership. Since I'm there pretty much everyday I get to see a lot of things normal valleyfair goers don't see on a daily basis. I see full trains on the looping star ship a lot surprisingly, almost 7-10 full trains per week

You're right, Looping Starship does occasionally get a decent line (most often on weekends). Despite that, I wouldn't be surprised if it gets relocated or removed (hopefully removed).

As for the old dining patio getting removed, that's a good move because now that we have the picnic area near Route 76, the old patio is basically pointless, and it creates even more land for the waterpark to play with.

I just remembered, that building were you used to by tickets for go-karts and mini golf is still there. Do you think that in the near future we could see that taken down and replaced by a flat ride?

I think that would be a great idea! The land behind it, where the bumper boats used to be, is also vacant. I could see a large flat ride back there, like a Huss Giant Frisbee. But, I don't think that would mesh well with the Route 76 branding of the area. I'd think the more likely option for that building's plot would be a few smaller flat rides more in keeping with the Route 76 theme, like Flying Scooters from Larson Int'l Inc., or - if they want to go a little bigger - a Booster from Huss.

I don't think that the Boooster would fit in to the 70's section of the park, but I would love to see some flying scooters. However, I think that a Huss Giant Frisbee would fit into Route 76 as well as Steel Venom.

Hey guys I was just thinking about cedar fair slating valleyfair for major expansion in the next couple years. We got Picnic point which can hold thousands of people and can produce 3000 meals an hour. Why would a small park need such a big dining patio? I think cedar fair is preparing valleyfair for some serious attendance, Valleyfair's future will be bright and I think the days of valleyfair being a small park are numbered.

That has been my thinking all along. Mr. Frazier was pretty proud of the new picnic point when he took me on a tour of it!

After having ridden Goliath at SFGAm, having an RMC at Valleyfair would totally be a dream come true. However, I live in the real world and realize that won't be happening anytime soon. Valleyfair needs a new steel coaster before a new wooden coaster. Maybe somewhere down the line maybe they could Iron Horse something (wouldn't be VF's next coaster, maybe in 8-10 years or so). They probably wouldn't Iron Horse High Roller because I think that VF needs an old school woodie to retain the charm of the park, and considering the layout, High Roller just isn't the type of coaster that you RMC. Excalibur would probably be more likely get Iron Horsed, and if was to happen, hopefully they could add an extra 700-1000 feet of track to make the ride longer. I'm aware I'm going off into Fantasyland, but hey, one can dream, right?

I had to work in picnic point for a shift and I got to go into the kitchens, Its pretty dang impressive! After I got to experience picnic point in action, i finally understood why they added it

Something from RMC would be perfect for VF, but you're right - we need a good steel coaster first. Personally, I prefer Outlaw Run over Goliath. Both are good, but Outlaw is better. If VF ever does get an RMC, I'd like to see something closer to Outlaw than Goliath - though that 1st drop on Goliath is EPIC!!!

Fantasyland? Sounds more like a nightmare. Dreaming of putting more money into Excalibur is like putting lip stick on pig and expecting it to get prettier. The El Camino of roller coasters just needs to be put out of its misery and put out to pasture. If your going to dream, dream an entirely new coaster!

Have you ever ridden anything that's been converted by RMC? The complaints people generally have about Excalibur are the transitions, trims, and short layout. All of that could be dealt with if it were converted. To be honest, I don't think this is what will happen, but it could be amazing.

I had a short conversaion with Mr. Frazier via Txting and was able to narrow down the announcement date for next years expansion (Waterpark makeover! My prediction!). He said that it would take place after labor day but before Haunt! So breaking it down that means any day from September 2nd through September 19th is when we will hear and see the announcement for 2015. So we have to wait a little bit longer but we know a time. Of course he knows that I would be spreading that around so maybe he is trying to catch us by surprise by making an announcement sooner than that! What's everyone think?

Carowinds is announcing their Giga in a few hours, Six Flags is making their announcements next week. I've heard Kings Dominion & Canada's Wonderland will also get waterpark expansions next year. KBF/CP sound like a dark rides similar to Wonder Mountain's Guardian. I've heard Dorney Park is looking at getting a new wooden coaster in the next year or two (most likely GCI).

But going back to your question garyman6, I'd like to hear the haunt annnouncements first!

Well, I just have to say Gary man, we now are 100% sure that we are getting an expansion next year! We all kinda new that, but at least it's confirmed now! I am extremely excited for the future of VF, I think it is going to be great, and I think VF won't be a very small park for much longer. Let the speculation continue!

That only leaves Michigan's Adventure and CGA. Not surprising for MA, but didn't Cedar Fair say the three parks they are looking at for major improvement included California's Great America? Why hasn't their been any leaks about what could be coming to CGA for next year?

The 3 parks with growth are Carowind's, California's Great America, and Valleyfair.

Exactly. I'm wondering why their hasn't been any news on what California's Great America would be getting in the future, let alone next year.

It will be interesting to see what Carowinds announces this morning. I know VF isn't getting a giga any time soon, but the scope of the announcement along with the scope of what VF announces for its (assumed) waterpark expansion, might indicate what kind of growth potential VF might see in the next few years.
