Vonni Posted January 5, 2014 Posted January 5, 2014 I'm looking forward to seeing the finished product as well. CF made a very good choice in this project.
triggernel Posted January 5, 2014 Posted January 5, 2014 RMC- Why Not? B&M Flyer- More Intense than a Wing Rider and probably more creativity overall. The current rides may be "Glass naps" but B&M has to dip their toes to rides. Compare Oblivion to Griffon, Or Air to Tatsu. Floorless- Why Not? Stand Up- Not likely as they have fallen out of public favor Giga- 275ft Height Limit, Wild Thing, and I doubt the park gets the attendance to justify that. Launched- Would work with the small size of the park Wing Rider- I wish no but given the "success" of Gate Keeper getting over 1 million riders, I can see Cedar Fair spreading these ride types. Also SFGAm is not in the same territory as VF. V2 and Steel Venom? Corkscrew and Demon? King Chaos and Rip Tide? Giant Drop and Power Tower? Invert- We'll see if Banshee works out well, and Fun Fact: Steel Venom at Valleyfair and Thunder Hawk at Michigan's Adventure are Inverted Coasters. Clones, But still inverted. -No -No -No -No -No -What...? -Probably Not -Most Likely
DanTheBooker Posted January 5, 2014 Posted January 5, 2014 I'm looking forward to seeing the finished product as well. CF made a very good choice in this project. I think this project is great. It will really breath new life into this section of the park. The refurbs of Scrambler and Tilt were good decisions. Plus the return of automobiles with a much more interesting track. A major new family ride is something that VF hasn't seen in quite some time. Disko seems like as best of choice as any. Not to mention, even though SV is by no means neglected down there, it will give guests a lot more reason to mosey out that direction. 2015 marks the 40th anniversary of the park. What do you think we can expect?
triggernel Posted January 5, 2014 Posted January 5, 2014 They took out the IMAX theatre which is right next to the wavepool. If it's not a water park expansion next year, I'll eat my pass.
thrillseeker4552 Posted January 5, 2014 Posted January 5, 2014 The park opened in 1976. Wouldn't 2016 be the 40th anniversary?
RCjunkie Posted January 5, 2014 Posted January 5, 2014 2015 marks the 40th anniversary of the park. What do you think we can expect? With the removal of the IMAX theater I expect a water park expansion. The question I have is how big of an expansion? Will they just use the old IMAX area? Or will they go bigger, use the IMAX space and relocate the Looping Starship for more space? Will they use the adjacent Hydroblaster area as part of the expansion as well? Too bad they will not mark the anniversary with a new coaster, maybe 2016.
RCjunkie Posted January 5, 2014 Posted January 5, 2014 The park opened in 1976. Wouldn't 2016 be the 40th anniversary? Nope. 2015 will be it's 40th operating season. Your counting the years between 1976 and 2016 without including the 1976 operating season.

Your counting the years between 1976 and 2016 without including the 1976 operating season. Yes, but there is a difference between its number of operating seasons and its anniversary. The park's first operating season isn't the same year as its first anniversary. If the park wants to celebrate its 40th anniversary, it will be 2016. If it wants to celebrate its 40th operating season, it will be 2015. Depends on how you look at it.
DanTheBooker Posted January 5, 2014 Posted January 5, 2014 The park opened in 1976. Wouldn't 2016 be the 40th anniversary? Kings Diminion opened in 1975. In 2014, they will be celebrating their 40th Anniversary. I'd expect Valleyfair to use the same logic
thrillseeker4552 Posted January 5, 2014 Posted January 5, 2014 ^ Interesting. 2014 is KD's 39th anniversary, but 40th season of operation. I guess I'm just taking the terminology too literally. Six Flags Magic Mountain opened in 1971 and celebrated their 40th anniversary in 2011, so I guess Cedar Fair looks at it differently.

yay101 Posted January 6, 2014 Posted January 6, 2014 I hope they don't get rid of Looping Starship, too many of those rides have been demolished!

Perhaps, but I'm not sure how much say a general manager (especially one who has not been there long term, yet) has on ride selection, expansion direction, etc. Edited January 6, 2014 by DanTheBooker
Vonni Posted January 6, 2014 Posted January 6, 2014 They could move Looping Starship into one of the spots opening up that are moving into the new section by Steel Venom....
DanTheBooker Posted January 7, 2014 Posted January 7, 2014 They could move Looping Starship into one of the spots opening up that are moving into the new section by Steel Venom.... As much as I enjoy Looping Starship, let's remember that the ride is pushing 30 years old. Also, the removal of Looping Starship could leave a void in the park that would be filled nicely by a Huss Frisbee or Zamperla Hawk down the line.
VF15 Posted January 19, 2014 Posted January 19, 2014 Route 76 looks like it's making progress, but I can't tell what that is in-between the flags. Maybe a large footer? Route 76 making progress...
Myself Posted January 19, 2014 Posted January 19, 2014 Looks to me like it's the boarding platform for the Disko coaster.
Vonni Posted January 23, 2014 Posted January 23, 2014 I'm hoping to make a trip to VF this Summer, and I will most likely be eating Lunch in the Park. Can someone give me suggestions on places to eat?
dippindotsguy8 Posted January 23, 2014 Posted January 23, 2014 It honestly depends on what you want, but some favorite places for a meal are: Coasters Drive In- There's a number of these in the Cedar Fair chain, and this one happens to be my favorite as (I think) it's the largest, and has the most options. The malts are really good! Also, it's air conditioned which is a plus Stadium Pizza and Grill - Good combination of items. There are some really good sandwiches to choose from, and the pizza is pretty good. It's got a fun atmosphere, since you can watch a variety of sports inside while you eat. Sidewinder Burrito - Great Mexican food and a good selection of beers For snacks during the day, I recommend the mini donuts from Cinnabon, and the fresh-made fries from Fryar Tucks. Also, the funnel cakes are amazing. My personal favorite from this year was the cookies and cream one.
Vonni Posted January 23, 2014 Posted January 23, 2014 Thank you so much! That really helps! I'm assuming its all pretty expensive, being Theme Park Food?
triggernel Posted January 23, 2014 Posted January 23, 2014 Can someone give me suggestions on places to eat? The McDonalds down 101...
