What's stopping Gerstlauer from producing Schwarzkopf-style trains with the accordion OTSRs?

Praise be to Anton, Amen.

They could- but it would be weight issues as well as complexity issues; the Mk2c trains weigh a LOT more than what would be a 'traditional' OTSR system- due to the locking mechanisms.

I love the Jack-in-the-box OTSRs on the Mk2c trains- they fit right, and are not earboxers, as well as being 'right sized' for my body.

My thought is this: they talk about how 'forceful' the loop on Revolution is... and here is where I point out two others:

Mindbender, SFoG and ShockWave SFoT, both of whom are more forceful, have similar approaches to the loop, and yet don't have OTSRs....

As much as I'd love to see the existing lap bars used without the OTSRs, I think I'd accept modern soft OTSRs as a compromise of sorts. I could see the park going that route if it's true the trains will need replacement soon.

Agree and good point. If they must have OTSRs then if they are comfortable and FIT PROPERLY then all would be good.. the current restraints are a complete and total joke.

TR from yesterday:

Entered the park just before 1 PM and walked on Revolution first. I rode in the middle and there wasn't much headbanging at all! Then headed up to Ninja and walked on that too. Then I had to meet more people at the entrance, so I met them and headed to Scream. Walked on that and Colossus. Then walked on GL using the SR line. Next to GL, there was a HUGE stream of water just running down the paved road between Tidal Wave and GL. Batman's line was almost to the entrance, so we decided to skip it. Then headed over to Goliath and walked on. Headed back up to X2 and there was a 15 minute wait. End of the line was right where they split you to the sides. Headed up to Tatsu and waited 15 minutes. Walked on Apocalypse and then returned to Tatsu to meet some friends. Rode 2 more times with a 15 minute wait each (and they were usually beating the 90 second clock). Then walked on Viper and rode X2 2 more times with a 15 minute wait each time. No music or fire.

Operations:

Everything was good except for Goliath. It was stacking half the time. X2 was usually dispatching trains with 30-40 seconds left on the clock (the other train would be just before the fire when the train in the station was dispatched). Tatsu was dispatching trains with about 15 seconds left on the clock. So operations were pretty good.

Great day at the park!

Future trips:

Saturday, May 12th

Monday, May 14th (RCDAY 2012!)

^That's really strange. Usually, it is Goliath that never stacks, and Tatsu almost always stacks. You must have found the alternate reality SFMM.

Yes, it was quite strange... Tatsu was only stacking for 10-15 seconds.

^I must've been unlucky with X2... they were only running one train, they weren't beating the timer, and the line wasn't really that farther back than you were. The line was probably about 100-150 feet back, right about at where the first cow-pen part of the line is. I ended up waiting an hour and a half for it... which considering everything else was a walk on was torture!

That's crazy! Usually it's just short of an hour and a half from the entrance through all the switchbacks! But yeah, with 2 trains running and decent operations, that is usually about a 15 minute wait.

I remember watching Wild and Crazy kids when I was young, and I always wanted to see the episode where they rode the roller coaster but I never saw it until just now! Nice, and thanks for finding that gem! Colossus must have been enormous back then, especially for those kids!

Gotta love Omar Gooding!
