The Six Flags Magic Mountain (SFMM) Discussion Thread

Recommended Posts

^^ That's why I'm concerned. I was there on 3/23 and have not received anything yet. I e-mailed the park right after my previous post this afternoon. Rewards are only valid at the park you bought the pass from but visits to any park count toward the program.

^ Yes, you do have to join Six Flags Funatics. I joined as soon as it was available too. I wonder if the expiration date is affected by the date you visit the park.

^ I wondered about that, too, but don't know for sure. Maybe a call to the park could clear that up. Also, I'm not sure why there would be an expiration date on something like this, unless it's to get you out to the park sooner---in which case, you'll just earn more rewards.

I could ask about the expiration date but my next two visits will probably both be on school days anyway. The park will probably be empty like last time and the skip the line pass may expire before I go on another crowded day when I would really want to use it. The main reason I want to get the Funatics rewards started is so I can get all five rewards and get a discount on my Xtreme Pass next year. Rewards 2-4 are useless to me and on a school day the skip the line pass may not be needed either.

I think the expiration date is to get you to come back sooner. They want you to come back and hopefully spend more money while you are there.

Oh my gosh I just listened to the WCB Terminator Audio I was dying from laughter. "What do you mean they didn't watch the preshow? Everybody has to watch the preshow! Tell them to get off and watch the preshow then get back on the coaster!" And "We took the tunnel, we took the tunnel" just had me on the floor. That should be the audio track for the ride period.

I got a big laugh from those preshow comments too. Especially since they used to let you skip the preshow when the ride had no line and now they make you watch it either way. I wish they would change that back to how it was before. They do still let everyone use the Flash Pass entrance when there is no line, which saves a lot of walking.

I like hearing Frank Sinatra--"It had to be you..." to start things....I love the noise that takes place in the station as well.... "X2...X2.... Is Everybody In?"" all that good stuff.

I have heard this sooo many times... it's not Sinatra.. it's Harry Connick Jr.. Sorry to burst anyone's bubble..

But honestly, hearing that short bit of jazz, which transitions into Metallica, sets the stage for the entire ride.. Kind of makes you think that this isn't going to be your typical coaster ride..

I always think to myself, "Why? Why did it have to be me?" (I was actually quite scared to ride X2 the first time.)

About the roughness, there is absolutely no question that the outside seats are rougher. Both the inside and outside seats provided the same "kinds" of roughness for me, but the outside seat was much more pain-inducing. Near the end of the ride there is a major headbang that gave me a headache, and I heard other people mentioning it as well. X2 was actually by far the roughest ride of the day for me, and I don't ride "aggressively"; I often don't bother seeking out the most gentle seats, either. So I was certainly at risk for being victimized by the other coasters, but it really didn't happen to a meaningful extent.

^^ So that isn't Frank singing that song. I didn't know that.

^ I got a headache from the major headbang at the end of the ride last time too. The two women in the row next to me were actually talking about whether or not they should go to Guest Relations and put it on record that they may have been injured on the ride just in case they ended up needing treatment after leaving the park. I have always found X/X2 somewhat rough but that was the first time I have ever walked away from the ride due to pain, and on a day with no line too. I will try to sit on the inside seats next time since I have found them smoother than the outside seats in the past too.

"It Had To Be You" was written in the 1920's. Sinatra was maybe the 8 billionth person to cover it.

The cover version on X2 is Harry (not Henry woops) Connick Jr.

I last visited the park on consecutive days (Sun 3/21 & Mon 3/22). I got each the morning after the visit. I wonder, are these rewards only good for your home park?

Could you please tell me the expiration date on your skip the line pass? I would like to see if the expiration date is different than Eric's since you went to the park 2 weeks after he did. SFMM answered my e-mail today and I am not going to get credit for my visit last week. I would like to see if there is any chance that I can use the pass in June since my first visit which is eligible for rewards won't be until April. I am still unsure of what went wrong. I signed up for Funatics months ago. Also, how can they say I was not opted in to receive e-mails when I have been receiving e-mails from them?

Here is the complete response I received today.

Thank you for contacting Six Flags.

I apologize, but when you processed your season pass, you were not opted in to receive emails from Six Flags. Because of this, you did not receive credit for your first visit. I order to receive credit for your visit, you need to be opted in by midnight during your visit.

I went ahead and opted you in to receive emails, so on your next visit, you will begin to receive credit for your visits.

We look forward to your next visit.

Have a Six Flags Day!

Thanks for the info. I guess the expiration date is fixed. That means I may not even get to use the skip the line pass anyway. I am currently planning to go the park in late April and mid to late May. Oh well, I've rode the heck out of every coaster in the park anyway. As long as I get all five rewards and get a discount on my Xtreme Pass next year I'll be happy. I don't really need the other four rewards anyway.

^ If you go here and read the February 17 entry, it spells out the Funatic rewards. However, to save a little time, I've posted the parking reward right here and bolded the Xtreme Pass reward:

3rd Visit: Free Regular Parking! If you’ve ever played me in Monopoly you know two things: I’m always the Top Hat and I love free parking. And, if you’ve already got your Season Parking, you can generously donate it to a friend or selfishly upgrade to Preferred Parking. You’ll get no judgments from me.

Hope that answers your question.

Eric
