haiderodes
^^Mega Mtn has no preferred parking, just valet. However, I assume the free parking reward isnt valid for that.
coasterking2981
^ Mega Mountain? Â I'll be heading out to the park on Friday with some friends. Hopefully one will have a camera so I can post some photos.
PsYcHo OZ
MEGA MOUNTAIN!! You thought Magic Mountain was great? It's got nothing compared to MEGA MOUNTAIN!! *coming soon to an imagination near you*
austinlee
I believe Mega Mountain is what the park was called when it was used in an episode of The King of Queens. I tried to search for this but was not able to verify it, but I'm pretty sure.
Top Thrill Dragster
Mega Mountain (Elitch Gardens) was the fictional name of the park used in the movie 3 Ninjas: High Noon at Mega Mountain. IMO a cinematic masterpiece!
AWill961
If you guys had a say in the next big roller coaster Six Flags Magic Mountain were to get, what would you suggest or want? Â I honestly would like a roller coaster that is hydraulically-launched, a lot more intense than Superman. (Superman's acceleration is not intense to me at all.) Â Other than that, I would take a B&M or Intamin AG hypercoaster with a steep drop (I wish Goliath had a steeper drop) and more airtime.
austinlee
^ I'm not entirely sure of what I would pick but your last two suggestions both sound great to me. I have also thought that an El Loco, similar to Steel Hawg would make a fairly intense and somewhat unique addition to the park. I just wonder if something like that would have capacity issues at a big park when the park is crowded. Do any of you know how many cars can run on Steel Hawg or a similar coaster simultaneously? Dailey Enterprizes
I am pretty certain they used SFMM in "Encino Man" and they called it Mega Mountain. In fact here's the actual quote... Â Stoney: Ya know what, Dave, just Chill, 'cause you know why? Link and I had a Stoney time at the Mountain. Dave: You took him to Mega Mountain? Are you crazy? Stoney: Yeah, 'cause they're ridin' The Vapor in reverse. Dave: They are? Stoney: Unh-huh! Dave: Oh, cool!
coasterking2981
I would actually go for a B&M hyper coaster around the height of SFoG's Goliath and replace our Goliath with that. Â But a custom made Maverick style coaster would be nice

(Superman's acceleration is not intense to me at all.)  Other than that, I would take a B&M or Intamin AG hypercoaster with a steep drop (I wish Goliath had a steeper drop) and more airtime.  I would take any of the following:  1. A Maverick-style launched coaster, but a bit larger and slightly more intense.  2. An Intamin Accelerator coaster similar to Top Thrill Dragster but taller than Kingda Ka (and with only lapbars).  3. A complete circuit launched coaster of any type (you can see what I think the park needs by now, right?)  If none of these would work, I would say they should either get an Intamin pre-fab woodie or a spinning coaster with a custom layout.  Whatever the park gets next will be fine, but I hope they don't just clone a ride from somewhere else. TonyG
hey everyone im thinkin of going to MM this month, im thinking the 23rd for my bros birthday (good excuse to go huh!) so you think thats a good day? its a friday
austinlee
^ Normally any April Friday, other than Spring Break, would be a good day go to, but April 23rd is Math and Science Day, which is an event that is usually crowded. The park is even open until 7:00 instead of 6:00 that day which is very unusual for a school day and seems to be an indication that they expect it to be crowded. If you want your visit to be near his birthday I would suggest that you go on the 22nd or 26th. Any weekday this month, starting on the 12th, should be very light except for the 16th and 23rd. Their calendar shows that they are open until 7:00 on the 16th too, but no event has been listed yet. My best guess is that there will be a special event on the 16th too. austinlee
Good luck but I would suggest that you keep checking their calendar in case something shows up on that day. I'm going later this month too, but I haven't picked an exact date yet, although it will be on a weekday.
ebl
Honestly, I think any day in April will have a decent sized crowd because different school districts take their spring breaks at different times. Next month might be better to take a trip to SFMM. I'm sure I'll get out there sometime this month, regardless, but most likely it'll be on a Sunday. austinlee
Every time I have been to the park in April on a weekday it has been deserted. The key is just to avoid Spring Break, go on a school day when they close at 6:00, and avoid special events. Last year I went on April 20, which was the first Monday right after Spring Break ended and there were so few people there that I was able to re-ride X2 without exiting the train. Every ride I went on that day had less than 10 people in line. It was that light when I was there on 3/31/08 too, which was also the first Monday right after the end of Spring Break. In my experience the first two weeks of May are very light on weekdays too, but the end of May is usually crowded on weekdays which I think is because colleges start to get out. AWill961
I have spring break this upcoming week. I don't know if this is the last week of adjacent schools' spring breaks... but I'm probably going to head up to the Mountain on Tuesday. Â Then I plan on going with some of my roommates and friends that April 16, I was talking about. I sure hope there is no event that day. My roommates never been to the park and never rode a roller coaster before for that matter.
coasterking2981
Was at the park today. Pretty crowded, so I got only a few rides. My cousin and some of her friends from up North (where they go to college) came down and wanted to go, and asked if I wanted to go, so I tagged along. Â For my cousin's friends, they've never been to Magic Mountain but had been to Discovery Kingdom, so they got quite a few firsts at SFMM Â We went on Tatsu, Terminator, Goliath, and Goldrusher, with the first three having at least an hour to two hour long line. Â Terminator's audio was down which sucked. Â And they really need to do something with the food court across from Goldrusher. Why dont they do what Costco does with its food? Have some windows just for ordering and others for picking up the orders? It'd cut the line down for sure. Â Other than that, more track has shown up for Mr Six's Dance Coaster. AWill961
^^ An hour for Goliath... ..damn that sounds pretty crowded. Â The most I ever waited for Goliath was over an hour. That was before Deja Vu and X opened.
coasterking2981
Luckily we didnt have the girl who asks if its anyone's birthday and stuff (although I do appreciate her efforts to make the day more enjoyable for people), so the lone moved prettty quickly. Have some windows just for ordering and others for picking up the orders? It'd cut the line down for sure. Â Agreed. Actually I find just about all food lines at MM unreasonalbly slow, so I think they all need major improvements. There would be 20 places to take your order and on a crowded day only 8 if lucky would be open. It almost feels like the post office. Â One thing I like about the Waterfront food area is they had just added those new giant blue and white umbrellas (and at a few other areas in the park) they make a great addition for those july or august shorchers. coasterking2981
^yeah i just noticed them. Some pretty nice touches me thinks. Â There was entire empty side of Papa John's at the Waterfront that could have been used for such a purpose as to have people pick up their orders from that side. And the waits are ridiculous for food. Â It'd be far more efficient in my opinion if they did this, even if they had to have a few more employees in the building itself. Most weekday crowds will shrink back down to walk ons on just about everything starting on April 12th. I hope for your sake that there is no special event on the 16th but the 7:00 closing time on a school day is definitely suspicious to me.  Agreed that the food lines are painfully slow and need to be improved. Guest
Is it foreseeable in the short term, near future that Magic Mountain will one day get a strata or giga coaster?
SharkTums
^Short term, near future? Â Is this in geologic time, or impatient coaster enthusiast time? Â I don't see it happening in the short term impatient coaster enthusiast time frame. Especially with the issues that Kingda Ka has had.
