The Six Flags Magic Mountain (SFMM) Discussion Thread

Page 2228 - Wonder Woman Flight of Courage REAL POV!

Hey Guys, anyone have any experience with Labor Day Weekend at SFMM? Me and a buddy are thinking about heading there on Sunday and getting FL+ regardless but I may rethink if it's known to be a cluster this weekend... thanks!

Labor Day weekend at any park is going to be a nightmare. Sunday is typically the worst and Saturday isn't too far off. Monday tends to be pretty quite. (This coming from working at a park.) That being said if you get a Flash Pass, you will have a much better experience. How much? That you would have to find out. In my past experience I got a Platinum level at Great America on a Saturday with a BAFF on top and I was able to have an enjoyable day. Hopefully a local can get you more details, but either way expect the worst crowds of the season.

I know I'm in the 1%, but a little sad to see GL go. Mostly just because of the aesthetic it brought to that part of the park. Bright, compact, and decently themed. Also used to enjoy watching people coming off the ride with a total "wtf was that?!" look on their faces. Oh well lol

So what are the chances SFMM re-markets West Coast Racers as their 2020 attraction?

I'm joking (kinda), but I also think it's totally possible for them to do something like that...

Someone posted a few pages back about that happening with The Chiller at SFGAd. So, its not unlikely lol! But, I wouldn't necessarily expect it with SFMM being that it is the "flagship" park in the chain.

I'm gonna say Columbus day weekend is looking likely. The foundation of the station was poured yesterday and was curing today. Station supports and track will PROBABLY (this is just a guess) go in Friday. The outside of most of the buildings are done with the exception of the candy shop, and Neil mentioned that Apocalypse and the Aftermath will be open for Fright Fest (Apocalypse was testing again today.)

Doubt it's going to take another 4 months, track work is complete.

True but they still have to do all the electrical work, testing, queue, and getting the new area done. It may not be January but I can see it being November or December.

November seems fair, and I think there is some sort of permit deadline in November afaik.

Six Flags Magic Mountain Announces Major Enhancements to Fright Fest and Holiday in the Park in 2020

The Popular Events will Expand into the New West Coast Racers Area

LOS ANGELES, Calif. — August 29, 2019 — Six Flags Magic Mountain , the undisputed “Thrill

Capital of the World,” today unveiled 2020 plans for the biggest-ever expansion of the park’s

two signature annual events, Fright Fest in the fall and Holiday in the Park during the winter

season. The expanded event offerings will be located in the newly renovated area of the park,

The Underground, where the new coaster, West Coast Racers, will soon open. Both events will

be developed around the area’s urban “street vibe” and will feature exciting and uniquely

themed activities and entertainment, adding an entirely different dimension to each of the park’s

popular events.

This fall, the Los Angeles-based theme park will debut the highly-anticipated West Coast

Racers, the world’s first dual-track racing launch coaster, featuring an immersive real time “pit

stop” designed and produced by world famous West Coast Customs that will provide riders with

a racing experience unlike any other. The Underground will also feature new culinary and retail

offerings, along with the park’s wooden coaster, Apocalypse, which will re-open in the fall as

well.

“Next year, Fright Fest and Holiday in the Park will be taken to new heights as our newest area,

The Underground, will be transformed for each of our iconic events. Coupled with the one-of-a-

kind ride experience of West Coast Racers, these two extremely popular Six Flags events

featuring completely new immersive experiences for our guests, will be a must-do for

excitement-seekers of all ages,” said Park President, Neal Thurman. “These additions, and

many more around the park, will take our special event line-up to a whole new level of thrills for

everyone to enjoy.”

Special event additions in the Underground include:

- New Fright Fest scare zone;

- More scary ghouls and zombies than ever to roam the streets;

- Thousands of additional twinkling lights to brighten the sky during Holiday in the Park;

and

- Live themed entertainment for both events
