That is really starting to sound like a broken record... we all know exactly what they need to do. Now its all up to Shapiro and the Six Flags crew to execute perfectly. Even with new kids areas I think it will take a good five years to get familys out to the park again. I doubt my family will ever go to Magic Mountain together due to its poor reputation for gangs and the like....

 

So they need to work on the bad reputation that they have as being the 'gang park' in order to get families there... Think about it would you taker your five year old to a place where you were afraid he/she might get shot?

 

Talk about broken records, when was the last time you were at MM? Care to guess when the last park guest was killed by a gang member or any other reason? Try going to Knott's during Haunt on a Saturday and see how many gang members are there. In close to 30 years of going to MM, I have personally witnessed 2 gang related events, while the last time I went to Knott's for Haunt (and I stress the last time), while waiting for a maze a gang fight broke out behind me in line. So statistically, I'm batting 1000 for gangs @ Knott's and somewhere around 0000.5 for MM.

MM dosen't deserve a new coaster for quite a while. They have enough to care people over the years. Granted one isn't working and the others are so-so(Except for Goliath).

Why should he have to? If he disagrees with the hopefullness of a new coaster sometime in the near future why should he give an explanation? I think most of us here can give you a multitude of reasons why Magic Mountain DOESN'T need a new roller coaster. I'm sure you can figure those out for yourself before anybody starts to "explain" them to you.

I have to agree that the park is not as bad as it is made out to be. However the view on the park is that people are consistently shot in the parking lot (funny how these rumors start). So whether or not these rumors hold true they are going to keep people out of the park with this kind of reputation....

 

Uh. Those aren't rumors. There's a good reason why Magic Mountain had this particular "reputation" and still does today. The kind of clients the park attracts does not make families with younger children feel comfortable at all, I'm sure you as a visitor to Magic Mountain can see what I mean by that.

 

A few years ago (I believe it was 1998) near closing time, a man was shot and killed in the park's parking lot following a quarrel that began inside in the park.

 

In another incident, a guy was critically wounded when he was shanked (stabbed forcefully by a knife) in the Batman queue after a scuffle between two people from two different parties.

 

These two particular incidents were influencial in forcing the park to install those metal detectors we all love so much and bringing in a the County Sheriff's sub-station onto park grounds.

 

For a good half decade, the park has been very good in terms of guest safety and is takes a lot of precautions to ensure past incidents like I mentioned above do not occur again. However, once incidents like that make the news and word of mouth goes around the area, it's hard to stop it. It's like wildfire.

At least we won't have to worry about Magic Mountain's next attraction being placed in a parking lot!

I know that it does not happen often anymore that is exactly what I was saying. The general feeling however is that there are many gang related incidents at the park. I know it does not happen often but people have it stuck in there heads that its not a safe place to be.....

Any word on when Ninja will be back up and running? I know it prolly won't be running this weekend, but any clues when it will?

This past weekend, workers were finishing up with painting. YES! Can you believe it? They are painting the ENTIRE ride, even the transfer section, second lift hill, turn into the station, and the station track too. Hopefully it will be up by Saturday, but don't be surprised if it isn't.

IMO, magic mountain could make great things with that land that dose not have to be a roller coaster, but it would be nice to have a nice new ride for 2008

Ninja's Paint job is very well done. As for repainting X, it would be really hard to do because of the track, all they really need to do is give it a nice power wash and it should look really nice.

 

As for the Tatsu thing, why exactly have they sent a train back? Is there something wrong with it or is it just because they want to keep it nice?

I have no idea if it's related or not, but the last time I rode Tatsu, all ankle restraints had to be manually closed. They did not close with the pulling down of the restraint. It'd be one awkward trip on that thing if the Ride Op's failed to notice & failed to close it themselves, which is what they had to do.

Too bad I missed his post before it got deleted, I'm kind of curious what was said, although the name calling I could do without but if I had seen it I probably just would have laughed and been mildly entertained *yawn*. I don't mean to belittle anyone. I'm just trying to state the facts as I know them to be from my own experiences and from the information given on this site by others who are in the know. If you are going to state something and are wrong about it you should be prepared for responses that give the correct information and maybe constructive critisicism. I do not ever claim to know everything or always be right about comments I post but I will NEVER resort to name calling because I don't know the correct information about something and someone is telling me what it is.

If I am wrong about something and someone points it out, I will graciously accept it and then move on.

still no word of flashback. i thought it would be down before the spring break/summer season began, but it doesn't look like it now. when does Hurricane Harbor re-open?

 

As far as Psyclone is concerned, it's gone and another coaster definetly isn't replacing it, unless SFMM decides to move Flashback, or whatever if will be called there in the future. Hey, for all we know Flashback might not stay. We are just used to assuming it will be, but that was just a maybe. Theres no confirmation that it absolutely will. So it could easily be that there will be 2 spots open, and I'm sure neither one of them will be to a coaster, (unless its a kiddy coaster)

lol i think rct2 sfmm purposely left out the other coasters, like riddler, batman, etc. because they knew it was almost impossible to make it good with the RCT limitations. I've seen people do recreations with all the rides in the park, except tatsu. but unfortunatley my younger brother started making his own sfmm park [which totally effing sucks] and he saved over the orginal rct2 version so i can't even play that anymore unless someone has it saved on some website and that i can download it.
