Cedar Point (CP) Discussion Thread
oriolat replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Let's hope Cedar Point can run 3 trains on Rougarou, as Mantis was intended. Has anybody noticed the lack of trimming on the MCBR? And it looks like they will install some magnetic brakes on the final brake run. By the way, I wonder how much a new set of rolling stock might cost... -

This. For some reason I also love the fact that they do the countdown in German. -

^It looks like the arms are not lined-up. Probably the ride automatically e-stopped when the sensors detected that the ride arms were not synched. I hope to see construction for the Oblivion knock-off start soon! -
Olympia Looping in England???
oriolat replied to gerstlaueringvar's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I have been looking at Olympia Looping's official website and the section containing details of the fairs it's going to tour has not been updated since 2013. I want to ride Olympia so badly, even if it doesn't disappear anytime soon. Does anybody know where it's going to be this year, besides Oktoberfest? What about 2015? Expedition GeForce. Nothing has ever come close to that 'OMFG I am going to die' feeling. Seriously amazing and addicting.

Nobody has mentioned the infamous final brake run on Eurosat at Europa Park. The coaster, although not too fast, hits the brakes so hard it is actually uncomfortable. I guess the ride layout didn't leave much space for a longer brake run, hence the abruptness.

Dragon Khan might not have the worst queue configuration but it has the worst loading policies. It has an attendant assigning rows (fair enough) yet they won't let you pick first or very last row even though there is a separate queue for both rows already set up in the station. Wouldn't it be easier to assign rows from 2-6 and let those folks who want to ride front or back wait a bit more?

La Ronde Discussion Thread

^It depends on the park. If the manufacturer doesn't say otherwise and the park agrees to soak riders, why not? I used to run a top spin with water effects and we were allowed to soak people when temperatures were high but not in autumn or early spring. Then again, that top spin I am talking about cannot have its water effects working anymore because that caused too many issues with the ride sensors, so management decided to switch the fountains off. Demon looks rather cool, although I would take a regular or suspended Huss topspin any day. -
Walibi Rhone Alpes Discussion Thread

I have to agree that those colours are a bit too striking. Speed of Sound's colour scheme is still bright but in a good way. I am glad that Eqwalizer is using the same soundtrack as Speed of Sound. I love it! -

I didn't know that one. Thanks Paula! -
Walibi Rhone Alpes Discussion Thread

If Speed of Sound is anything to go by, this overhaul will be amazing. The soundtrack on SOS was so catchy and well synched. Do we know if there will any tunnels added to both spikes? Is this going to feature the same soundtrack as SOS (the song was called "Hello World!")? Although the new paint job might look a bit tacky, it gives a bog standard Boomerang some fresh air. The new trains will hopefully avoid the inevitable headbanging on the cobra roll. Great job, Walibi! Now build brand new rides across the chain! -
Mine is @oriolat. I have a few theme park/coaster pics but not too many!

This. As good as Montu and Alpengeist are... Kumba is miles ahead of every other coaster at either Busch Gardens park. It's world class. I haven't ridden Kumba but as I've heard it's on the same level as Dragon Khan, therefore I agree I have ridden both DK and Kumba. While Dragon Khan might be a bit more intense the its Floridian cousin, Kumba is better landscaped and has a good mix of helices and inversions.

Cedar Point (CP) Discussion Thread
oriolat replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I wouldn't describe Gatekeeper as boring but it feels very controlled, if you compare it to other coasters in the park, even the B&Ms. I really liked the first drop, the sheer size of the first inversions and the keyhole, although the ride experience was not very exhilariting for me. However, the ride looks very cool towering above the main gate and it certainly screams "Roller Coaster Capital" out loud and can be intimidating for first-time riders if they haven't been to the Point before. -

Great report, so far, Freefaller! I am looking forward to reading the rest of your Spanish adventure! Even if it's a bit of a spoiler, what parks did you visit around Spain? -

Does it match the hype? I really want it to ride as well as it looks! Either way, I am determined to give it a spin this summer when I head to Sweden! -
Doubtful. Not if media are attending for free, then they can make them wait as long as they want. If people were to sue overy any delay anywhere, no park would risk opening any new rides. I know that fans are probably way excited about Goliath but I am sure that both the park and the manufacturer are working around the clock to open the ride as soon as possible. So, relax and enjoy the construction process.

According to a very reliable park employee, Dragon Khan got an update on its sensors, control panel from B&M. So, unfortunately, I think that this neuter is for good. I am actually sad to see this, since I loved the second half of Dragon Khan with its snappy corkscrews and the insane curved drop after the MCBR. -

^Oddly, the new "coaster/dark ride" is not on RCDB. Cred or not, that is the question?
