Seems that Shambhala is not "fat-friendly"... I have seen a lot of people get kicked out of the ride because the restraint was not as far down as required to dispatch the train. It seems weird because other B&M hypers operate just fine (even the American ones, with more overweight population!). How come? Does anybody know if B&M have changed their standards in terms of restraints? Silver Star is also from B&M and doesn't have this problem and even people that has a "normal" weight and fitted in the test seat have been kicked of Shambhala because of the size of their thighs... -

I was at the park today as well and rode Shambhala 5 times. I must say I am pretty impressed with what PA have done with the area and Khan. As for Shambhala itself, the ride delivers airtime (most noticeable hill before the MCBR and speed hill) and some funky forces/disorienting sensation through the ampersand turn. I will post some photos later! -

Remember the video/photos of the trains when they were delivered? There seemed to be some holes in the zero car. I was wondering why and the answer could be an onboard lighting system, like Hollywood Dream The Ride. Look carefully and you'll spot the same reflection in different angles... I hope it really is a LED system because this would make the trains look SO cool at night. BTW, Shambhala will be officially launched on Saturday 12th by Artur Mas, President of the Catalan Government. -

Finally, I bring you a video showing a test WITH splash, which by the way has been confirmed it will be artificial (like Manta's). It looks quite good in my opinion... let's hope PA keeps it running on a consistent basis Also notice how in this last video the train has a nice speed on the last hills... When it runs in freezing temperatures on a cold windy day in January, with an empty train, first thing in the morning... I bet this will have heaters in the station or something. -

The miniland where Shambhala sits is currently being landscaped. Lots of statues, buildings, greenery and walls have appeared in a matter of days. The entrance arches to the Shambhala section are being finished and the sign is about to be installed. There you go some photos: Entrance arch ready to be painted and installed. Builder butt and painting detail. Sign should be placed in a matter of hours... Lots of rockwork are also being covered with concrete and topped off with snow. Looks nice! I still wonder why they would install this miniroof... And the buried Buddha! More and more details to round up the area... Queue building is being finished... Source: osgirl19 from PA-Community.com The coaster is opening in 13 days and all of a sudden the construction has rocketed. In fact, themeing work is being done during park operating hours and testing is being done at sunset and at night... -

Today Shambhala has been testing quite a few times and, finally, it's running noticeably faster! I love how it flies over the hills after the splash! Can't wait for multiple-train testing! By the way, in a recent interview with Luis Valencia (PA's Director of Rides), he confirmed that the first hill is 200 feet tall (60 meters). He also mentioned that the expected hourly capacity will be 1,600 pph. Source: PA-Community.com -
I still don't get why Tatsu can't seem to operate with 3 trains. I mean, if the park built a double station, why not use it when Tatsu is one of the most popular rides in the park? Other parks that have flyers with double loading stations don't seem to have a problem running both with 3 trains, like Air at Alton Towers or Manta at SWO...

Hersheypark (HP) Discussion Thread

I don't think so. Intamin never uses moving floors on any coasters, not even impulse models. A similar coaster, Baco, also doesn't feature retractable floor and works perfectly well. -

Looking at those pictures and videos I can't spot the scoops. I am pretty sure Shambhala will feature a natural splash but I find it weird not to see them installed yet. Did Diamondback test without scoops first only to add them later? I mean, they could still test the ride without splash by not filling the pool... -
I read somewhere that IOA was built following a similar pattern to PortAventura's. That is, a "Q" shaped layout, that allows the guests to go around the park without skipping any major ride and making it easy to navigate. BTW, I am glad you enjoyed Dragon Khan (FYI, the repaint has been done this past off-season). A couple of days before you visited PA I went to the park and Khan was shut, along with El Diablo. Lucky strike, I guess! I have enjoyed your review so far and I am eager to read about Tibidabo, since it's the park where I used to work! Aw, good times!

Nice to see something new being built at SDC. Perhaps this has been stated in previous pages but do we know the manufacturer of this roller coaster? I remember reading rumours about this coaster being built by the same manufacturer that worked on NTAG. -

Yeah, it's the only "big" B&M (big, as in, running 3 trains) featuring 7-car trains... As for Shambhala, I really like the look of the buildings and the area, although it seems that they still have a lot of work to do to make it feel more realistic and less of a mud dump. -

Yep. Its also the first new B&M inverted coaster to be built since Phaethon opened in 2007. And the first one to feature a dive loop! BTW, has the ride consistently been running 2 trains? I have heard negative reviews about PA's operations and I was wondering if that happens on Oz'Iris too... -

Update! Walls and walls everywhere, not to mention the mess of supports... I am glad to see the station tower "topped off". I really like the look of the small "village"-esque buildings and the basic light yellow-red colour scheme... From the other side... The entrance to the section, where Fumanchú used to sit (mind you, Fumanchú won't be operating this season and it is rumoured it could make a comeback next year...) First drop tunnel looks like SFMM's Goliath :S I hope PA theme it well... B&M feast... To finish this update, I will post a photo of Shambhala from yesterday. It was very rainy and foggy. In fact the fog was so thick you couldn't see the top of Shambhala's hills at times... It looked like the real Himalayas! -

Yesterday TNT opened to the public, just in time for Easter holidays... Man are these people from PAM fast at building rides... IMO, it looks the best Gerstlauer of the bunch of family coasters (Duinrell's and Hansa's). I love the fast-paced layout and the little themeing touches (fake caves, tons of mist and old-looking station).

PA must have stolen the colour scheme from Six Flags: I am SO disappointed. They had no reason to attack the trains with those colours. Before, you could tell which train you were riding by the colour and they looked good against the track. Now it looks like a kiddie coaster train on B&M tracks... -
