Tower of Terror Carnival Knockoff
oriolat replied to jzoole's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I have had the privilege to ride this contraption several times in different Spanish fairs. And it's defintely a TOT knock-off. It's so bad that even having two elevator shafts they can only run ONE at the time because otherwise they would have a blackout. The experience is as follows: - the carnie gives you a pair of dirty and cheap-looking 3D glasses - you board the lift (mind you; no seatbelts or anything, just a single lapbar that barely touches you) - you go up to the first floor where you watch a 4D film (yeah, a weird film featuring dinosaurs in pyramids. Everything makes SO much sense ). Of course, airblasts and water sprays are mandatory to round the experience. - you continue going up until the basement where you can see a good overview of whatever you have in front of you - with no warning, you freefall about 21 meters (69 feet) and, before the elevator reaches the base, the lapbar pops open and you're off. If I remembery correctly, there's an on-ride photo for those who DARE ride that Near-death experience Oriol "Saw the TOT knock-off ride op drinking a HUGE glass of cheap wine while running the contraption" Monroig -

Track complete! And queue building is progressing nicely: Source: PA-Community.com -
Amazing TR! I wasn't really expected the queue to be that full of themeing and little touches I am seriously impressed! Nice to see that your were flown up to the sky bar to take these amazing shots! By the way... how many trains does the coaster run? I know that Europa Park love to run their rides at capacity (and that's amazing in my books!).

Real Madrid Resort Island
oriolat replied to larrygator's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Check your history book. Real Madrid won SO many Spanish leagues because it was Franco's favourite football team (that meant partial referees, suspicious draws, etc.). I really think this project won't go ahead, just like so many other far-fetched projects in Dubai... Oriol "Don't want to turn this into a football thread" Monroig -

New update! Track is almost complete. There's the last bunny hop left to be placed and Shambhala will be done I think we can bet that testing will begin mid-April, as scheduled. Source: Harman from PAFans.com and PA-Community.com -

Wow! I love this post I was secretely hoping that one day somebody would start this thread and there it is! Thanks for the pictures and the explanations! Keep these pictures coming because some of them (especially B&M and Intamin) are quite hard to get... Oriol "Control panel enthusiast are even nerdier than lift hill enthusiast" Monroig -

Somebody found/stole this picture showing an aerial view of what has been built so far: Souce: Quaresma from PA-C -
Somebody went to PAM and found out that the trackwork has advanced a lot and pieces of themeing are also going up. According to a manager from Parques Reunidos, they expect to have the ride running by Easter (a month away or so). Given that PAM is the only park able to have a coaster with scaffolding in the morning and running perfectly in the afternoon I doubt they will delay construction a lot... Onto the pictures: Source: Posesionfriki.com

I have a question for those who have ridden a B&M hypercoaster with V-seating trains. Is there a gate for every two seats or is there just one gate like on GIBs or Furius Baco? I can imagine that if the park doesn't handle this situation well loading could end up being a real mess (and Spain is messy enough as it is!) affecting operations and thus, capacity. -

Exactly. If Skyrush operates like Furius Baco (nearly identical sitting) there will be ONE gate per row. It's simple yet effective. -

Update. The speed hill has been completed and the second camelback is starting to go up! I reckon that this hill will be erected in no time and there are "only" a couple more hills to hit the MCBR. My bet is that PA were behind schedule but the people from RCS have been working around the clock to complete the installation on time to start testing as expected: in mid April. Yes, it does. It's almost at the end of the ride, like Carowinds' Intimidator. IMO, the ride won't feature many trims since the splash alone will slow down the train enough to take the next to hills at the right speed. -

Looks like CF got a deal for a huge amount of aqua blue paint CF are really obsessed with colour trends. First red, then aqua blue... what's next? Pink? -

Small update: first camelback needs another piece of track to be topped off, more supports of the helix have been erected and one more section of it has been put. Onto the pictures (sorry for the quality but the lens was probably dirty): In this picture the hill looks VERY steep. Again, angles... A bunch of other pictures can be found here. I have read about the rattling problem that DB has, but I guess it comes down to trackwork, construction or wheel assembly (or both combined!). I have never heard of anyone complaining about Behemoth or Intimidator (CW) though...
