Weirdest Things The 'GP' Have Said
MisterP replied to maliboomer's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I was in line for Millennium Force, and the guy in front of me said to his friend, "this ride goes 94 miles per hour". I couldn't have been more incensed. And being the snotty eavesdropping a-hole that I am, I interjected, "it actually only goes 93 miles per hour, IDIOTS". Man, those guys were the WORST... -

Do you really think that a Friday and Saturday in May at Cedar Point will NOT be hugely crowded? In a related question, does anyone think the bars in south Boston will be crowded on St. Pat's Day?

Marian Gaborik is a very talented twat. He'll fit in on the KIngs like Woody Allen would fit in in a Tlyer Perry movie...

Agreed with Best Picture - 12 Years a Slave was the greatest achievement of the year. Gravity was one of the technically dynamic movies ever made and Cuaron and all the tech people deserved all those awards. But the screenplay was mediocre at best and the story was a bit thin. That's not to say it isn't a great movie, but its more about atmosphere and tension than it is about acting (although Bullock does a fine job) and deeper meaning. It has the theme of mourning (her daughter/Clooney's character), but its kind of a weak theme. We the viewers do''t really get that involved with her past and how she lost her daughter, its really only mentioned. 12 Years brings to life a book about something few people think about: people who were born free, but were captured and forced to become slaves as adults. And the actors all did amazing work with very difficult material and made you feel what they were feeling. I really thought McConaughey was fantastic in Dallas Buyers Club, but I believe what Chiwetel Ejiofor accomplished in 12 Years was an all-time performance. And newcomer Lupita Nyong'o was amazing as the slave girl in her first ever movie role. Even the slavers featured some gut-wrenching performances, namely Michael Fassbender, but also Sarah Paulsen, Paul Dano, and others. I thought 12 Years a Slave was in an objective sense, the best American movie since There Will Be Blood and No Country For Old Men, which both come from that great film year of 2007...

Suprising Soakings

Popeye & Bluto was the only ride I ever felt where we were "pummeled" with waves of water. I had to keep my eyes shut because with that much water being thrown in my face, I was worried I would lose a contact lens. As far as the most surprising, in recent memory it was Smoky Mountain Rampage last summer. I knew we'd get wet, but while riding it with an an entire family of strangers, every drop and waterfall hit my buddy and I. EVERY time. No joke. Every member of the family barely got a drop. It was quite amusing to everyone, including us. We went back to the car for a food break, and found a grassy spot nearby to lay in the sun to dry off and took off our shoes & socks to dry out as well... -
Perfect. Thanks a bunch.

OK, so I have a 2-night, three day trip to Cedar Point with my family planned for this summer. I also plan to take a solo trip to Worlds of Fun. So I'm wondering a few things about how to maximize my value. We are going to stay on the premises at Cedar Point, so we will get early entry through that. The questions I have are: If I get a Platinum Pass for WOF, will I automatically get early entry at CP and other CF parks? If not, will I still get early entry by staying in the hotel even though I am not purchasing my particular tickets through the hotel (but my wife and son are)? I guess what I'm really asking is that since its like 8 bucks cheaper for a WOF pass, is there any downside with relation to early entry and other key perks at Cedar Point that would make it better to just spend a little more for the Cedar Point pass? Thanks

I'd bring back Injun Joe's Cave from Six Flags Over Mid America. I was obsessed with that ride as a kid. Others: Ozcat, Zambezi Zinger, Big Bad Wolf, 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea, Horizons and World of Motion, Disaster Transport

Here is one of my favorites from the Six Flags You Tube comment section: "Why did they bother making Goliath out of wood, surely its better to make it even scareier and for a bit more money, out of metal." -

You're a grown man who chooses to live in the middle of a freakin' desert and whines about not having any theme parks within driving distance, and the rest of us are the @$$holes?!?!? -

Wow. I was at the park yesterday and had no idea you guys were there. I totally would have looked for you guys to say hi. I drove from St Louis that morning just to get to ride Outlaw Run, Powder Keg, and Wildfire at night for the first time. And depsite the huge crowds and lines, it was totally worth it... -

The Hannibarrels have been SBNO for almost 20 years now. I don't understand how hard it could be to dismantle it over one offseason. And its dead weight right in the middle-front of the park; its not like its tucked into a corner somewhere were no one really see it. Its practically part of the main plaza. That's never made any sense to me... -
Balder I have no idea what it means in Swedish, but its my favorite name for a ride ever...

Having been to WDW only during peak-ish times of the year, this seems impossible. Take into the fact that traveling between the 4 parks kills about an hour and the fact that not being at certain parks to acquire Fast Passes before they run out limits the ability to ride rides with longer lines, it seems crazy to try to do even if hit an EMH day at a key park. Even one ride on each attraction on the list seems extremely difficult. But 3 times on TOT? 2 on RNRC? 3 times on EE? And Tower AND Soarin AND both mountains AND Peter Pan AND BTMR AND Dinosaur AND the Safari? Even if these rides were all in the same park, there doesn't seem to be enough time in the day to do all this. Much less the travel time between parks, earlier park closures, limitations on Fast Pass acquisiton, etc...

New Major Theme Park for Fort Myers!!?
MisterP replied to SharkTums's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I could see this video game/theme park melding as a gateway to the future where parks are all virtual. Where even the coasters are in environmentally-controlled, simulated envonments, with no need for track, supports, or anything. Imagine how this would cut down on down time! Year-round parks with no weather constraints! If you lose your hat on the coaster, just wait until the vehicle comes to a stop and run across the room to retrieve it! Parks could brag about having 30, 40 coasters, and still be able to house them all in one 10,000 square-foot show building! Then that could lead to the day when really rich kids could just have their daddy buy all their favorite coasters for their very own home! Hey, Jimmy, my dad just bought me The Voyage! Come over to my basement and we can ride it! My dad says if I'm good, he'll buy me BOTH Chinese Fireball AND Hungarian Horntail!
