Six Flags St. Louis (SFStL) Discussion Thread

Orange is so pretty.. And more rides is automatically better. No matter how crappy they are. Aesthetic beauty is pointless. This is Six Flags after all. No one who spends money there (kids) cares about the fact that it was once a gorgeous park. They just wants them some RIDES!!!! -

Depends on your definition of "eyesore". Personally I think it looks great compared to what used to be there. And as for "peaceful," I guess that's true if by "peaceful" you mean "nobody would go there because there's nothing worth riding". It was Old Chicago...a transitional area with the Dodge City bumper cars and some trees. Oh, the horror. A crappy boomerang and a pointless fireball carnival ride that both feature every color on the spectrum are probably an improvement for most people, I guess... -

That part of the park north and west of the Mine Train used to be so peaceful and pretty, now its a rainbow eyesore of carnival rides and bad transplant coasters.... -
I finally saw BvS, and I thought that it was a huge piece of sh*t. So much bad, it's hard to believe anyone actually liked it. I liked Affleck as Bruce/Batman (despite the despicable, murderous nature of his character) and I liked WW, but other than those two things, it was beyond awful. Eisenberg's Luthor and Adams' Lane were both way off (although I really like both actors), and the whole short-changing immy Olsen and then killing him off thing was beyond bad. Doomsday was an afterthought (in a 2 1/2 hour movie?!?!?), and the ending was freaking insulting. What a swing-and-a-miss. Zach Snyder is probably the worst director working today. And that's saying a lot with Michael Bay still aborting movies in his own horrible way....

I think it started happening years ago as American Plunge's tunnel is now just a long concrete trough, whereas it used to have actual theming inside it. The Lost River as well now has about 1/2 the amount of theming as it used to. They also haven't updated Fire in the Hole in a long time, other than taking certain elements away. Ditto for the Powder Keg launch shack. I love the park and have a season pass again this year, but their attention to in-ride theming is all but nonexistent nowadays... -

Launch coasters always have long lines because of the nature of the ride and its dispatch times. And people scream on every launched coaster. Those things don't automatically equate it to being the best one in a given park. Riders go nuts for the launch on Wicked Twister at Cedar Point. But that doesn't make it even a Top 5 coaster there... Yes i know that. But from working that section of the park and seeing possessed a million times a week, saturdays and sometime sundays there would be a long line. and for Dorney, that is unheard of. And for Dorney, not many people scream on the coasters there, other than talon and possessed. So we are sticking with the "scream factor", eh? Alrighty then...

Yeah, me too. I like the basic story and a lot of the actors/actresses involved, but I watched the first one, and I was like "yeah, that was OK", and I was pretty much over it. Maybe you have to have read the books...or like, be under 40....to really like them...

Speaking of admission deaals, the best deal at SDC is showing up after a certain hour of the afternoon or evening (which varies depending on closing time), paying full price for the rest of the evening, and getting to come back the next day for free. I live 4 hours away, so I will drive down around 10 on a Tuesday, stay at SDC until close which is usually about 3 or 4 hours worth of hanging out, go back to the park at opening the next day, stay 8 hours or so, and be back home by mid to late Wednesday evening. About 60 bucks admission, 90 bucks for a hotel, and 50 bucks for gas. A nice little two-day escape for a couple hundred dollars... -

Homer: Now, I believe you have some sort of firearm for me. Gun Store Clerk: Well, let's see here. According to your background check, you've been in a mental institution... Homer: Yeah. Clerk: frequent problems with alcohol... Homer: [nervously] Yeah. Clerk: ...beat up President Bush! Homer: Former President Bush. [the owner slaps a red rubber stamper on Homer's printout] Homer: "Potentially dangerous"? Clerk: Relax, that just limits you to three handguns or less. Homer: Woo hoo! -

They are going to piss off a LOT of people when they reveal that "death" isn't what we thought and the character escapes. not only is it implausible, and improbable. .it's IMPOSSIBLE with the 'rules' they set up in the world this show exists in. . . it will be considered a "cheat" to goose folks talking about the show, and it IS going to anger folks. but yeah. .I don't think ***** is dead. I did after the show. . .but Producers interactions w/ the media over the past week have led me to think it was a fake out. I heard this too, and I agree with you completely. The way that scene was shot, that character surely looked 100% dead (or seconds away). If they play some trick on their audience, it will be a fatal mistake. And just when the show was hitting it's stride. I hope the rumors are wrong. Because if they aren't, I may be done with the show for good...and I won;t be the only one...

I thought the second episode of this season might have been the best episode of the show's entire run. But I also though the first one this season was one of the best as well. Sunday's was also very good, the gut punch at the end notwithstanding. All three are probably in the best 5-10 episodes they've done so far. The show is at the top of its game right now. It's been a good but rarely great show for 5 years. Here's to hoping Season 6 keeps the "great" going...

False. The person below me thinks Disney parks are lame because they don't have enough thrill rides..

I saw Bridge of Spies Tuesday and Steve Jobs today. Loved them both. The latter might be the best picture I've seen all year, and I really loved The Martian, Love and Mercy, and Straight Outta Compton...and Mad Max: Fury Road was excellent as well... It's been an excellent year for movies IMO, and perhaps the best is yet to come...

What's the lamest first drop you have been on?
MisterP replied to Quetzal's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I actually saw Millennium Force, Apollo's Chariot, and Loch Ness Monster on this list. Which obviously means that there isn't a first drop in the world, no matter how great, that doesn't displease someone somewhere...
