  1. Hey guys, haven't posted in a while. I love that you guys all enjoyed the City Museum so much. We're pretty proud of it here. Not sure if you guys know, but they actually have concerts in the front room where the stuffed sea animals are hanging (outside the caves). Back in June, I saw Fishbone there. It was insane. And they actually had burlesque dancers as an opening act (pasties over their you-know-whats ). It was a great night. The owners of that place are insanely cool and they apparently have been hosting occasional concerts for a few years (I didn't know until this summer). Anyway, good to talk to my TPR friends again. Now I'm off to Six Flags tonight to ride Evel Knievel in the dark...
  2. I've been a Letterman fan since the 80s. But I've watched Conan too (when I stay up that late) since he started on NBC. I think he's pretty brilliant. And I find Leno and any of his shows to be boring, safe, and unfunny. And its rewarding for me to see Leno look like a grade-A a-hole.......
  3. I hope Juliet's not dead. I was beginning to get addicted to looking at her...
  4. 4 hour wait for a haunted house? 2-3 hours for a coaster on a normal day? Sounds like the worst park to visit in the world......
  5. That street than ran along the back side of the Comet is Macklind Ave. The coaster ran along the south side of Oakland Ave. on the north end of the park, basically from where the current Hampton Inn and Suites stands on Oakland to the west all the way through the north end of the Forest Park Community College campus east to Macklind Ave. Tamm Ave is about 1/4 to 1/2 mile west of where the park was and Skinker is about 1/2 a mile to a mile west...
  6. IMO, if a Six Flags park is heavily overshadowed by its water park, its is a 100% failed operation. If Louisvile wants a water park, fine. But if they want an actual amusement park, its too bad. Because theirs is an absolute disgrace....
  7. I too was expecting more amusement park "in jokes" and views of the rides, etc. But taken on its own terms, the movie was quite good. I can totally see the comparison to "Nick and Nora", which I also though was quite good. I say "kudos" to directors like Mottola and Peter Sollett and Jason Reitman for making really smart teen/early 20-something comedies. As a teacher who works with people in roughly this age group, these films show that not all young people are idiots who do nothing but play X-Box, listen to pointless music, watch Flavor of Love, and can't find Canada on a map. "Adventureland", for an old fart like me, was very rewarding....
  8. 11 page thread about a sign..... Is this forum desperate for some new trip reports or rumors or what?
  9. STSTL is my home park. If I get a season pass (only if we plan to visit at least one other SF park) we'll go 2-3 times a summer. If I don't get a pass, I'll go once every other year or so.
  10. I saw Diedrich Bader (aka Oswald from The Drew Carey Show) with his family at Disneyland.
  11. Shortest line....and loooongest train!
  12. In a Halloween episide when Homer is a King Kong-type giant ape: Carl: "I heard we're goin' to Ape Island" Lenny: "Yeah, to capture a giant ape. I wish we were going to Candy Apple Island" Charlie: "Candy Apple Island? Whatta they got there?" Carl: "Apes. But they're not so big"
  13. Plus, to add insult to injury, the coaster is a painful, awful mess too..
  14. Um, Orient Express has been deceased for over 5 years now... That was exactly Shane's point. It's been over 5 years now and the park does not have a sit down, looping coaster....unless you count the Boomerang. --Robb They've added both a coaster more or less in the spot OE took up, as well as another looping coaster. So since I'm someone who can't read Montezooma's mind, it would seem like an odd statement considering it was removed half a decade ago, and by this summer this fairly small, local park will have added 3 coasters in the 5 years since its demise... Let me clarify my comment. Parks that have a good coaster lineup seem to offer variations and different styles of coasters. When I was working in the design division of two of the Theme Park companies we always tried to provide a different experience with each new attraction. Therefore I was suggesting that LZ fit the catagory as a full circuit looping sit down coaster.. Back in the old days this variation was typically fullfilled by a standard Arrow looper. Today a lot of those old rides are being removed which leaves a void for that variation of ride. So with the removal of Orient Express WOF is now without a full ciruit sit down looper. Boomerang is sit down and it does loop, but it is a considered a shuttle coaster and some people do not like to ride in the backwards position so I don't consider it a replacement for Orient Express. Patriot is a completely different experience also...no further explanation needed. Therefore one might conclude that LZ would be a perfit fit, not in the exact location as Orient Express, to complete different ride experiences at Worlds of Fun...any questions? I see what you're saying, but we are talking about Worlds of Fun here...it AIN'T Magic Mountain. The fact that they have added a B&M invert and a GCI woodie in the last 3 years MORE than makes up for the fact that they lost the painful Orient Express. But then again, I'm from Missouri, so I guess I have no knowledge......excuse me. This is a great site, but as a theme park visitor of 30-plus years, its a bit annoyoing that Californians who have been to Missouri once or twice to ride roller coasters pretend to know more about that state's theme parks than a loyal middle-aged poster who has has visited the park in question more than half-a-dozen times since he was in the 5th grade in 1979...

  17. Getting to finally ride Hades. Wow....just...wow
  18. ^ I see. Then I guess I don't care as much about which title is better. So I'll say that if its just gonna be coaster POV's then I'm OK with Coaster Tube. If its other theme park stuff as well, I'll go with TPR TV.
  19. Very nice video, but I have a bone to pick with the OP. From one Italian-American to another, "Dego" is not the correct spelling of the word. "Dago" is the correct spelling. Dego is a province in northern Italy, so unless you are from there (which, seeing you live in California, I'm guessing not), you are misusing the word. If you're going to use an ethnic slur as your user name, at least spell it correctly...
  20. I prefer TPR TV. Coaster Tube sounds too generic. There are hundreds of Coaster this and Coaster that all over the internets. When I see TPR, I know its automatically going to be better than all the other coaster stuff. Plus, I think TPR represents way, way more than just coasters. "TPR" is an institution. Keep it in the name.
  21. First off, let me say I LOVE Knoebel's, but High Speed Thrill Coaster is neither high, nor speedy, nor thrilling.....but hey, it's a coaster!!
  22. I wouldn't pay much mind to the opinions from a book that is not even listen on Amazon...
  23. Volcano is so awesome........I forget, do they have other coasters there?! Original indoor/outdoor launched Intamin invert >>>>>>>> mediocre relocated B&M floorless
  24. You're right about the TT stations. Exactly the same as they were for Thunder Express. But I'm pretty sure Thunder Express, when it was at Six Flags St. Louis was not a 'mirror image' of the other one, but just a second mine coaster. So they just had two mine trains, but not two that mirrored one another. Correct me if i'm wrong though. You are correct. Both tracks were different; they didn't mirror each other;
