  1. Wouldn't you have to wake up before 4:00am if you were to take a picture of that time on the clock? Or did you just reset it. ....Cheater. Anyway, awesome pics, and welcome to California! Robb complains about it a lot, but if you just passing through for a few days, you'll be allright! BTW...I just confirmed that I will indeed be at SFMM on Sunday, so perhaps I'll see you. I work at Riddler's, starting at 12:00. ...see you there, Jahan
  2. ^Agreed Whenever I hear stupid stuff like that, I sigh and remember how great it was to be normal. ....Oh, wait. . .I was never normal. -Jahan
  3. ^ I, too, reccomend riding in the front. It's just a better ride, all together. While, yes, I suppose that would cut down on unwanted forces, for definitions sake, that wouldn't be a heartline. -Jahan
  4. I just worked my first weekend op'ing the Riddler's Revenge at SFMM, and it seemed like every hour we had to ask one or two people to leave, as they were too large for the restraint. Also every hour we seem to encounter four to six individuals who insist that the restraint will fit, and even have asked for a second ride op to aid in squeezing the seat belt in! But you have to remember...for every 6-7 overweight individual we deal with in that hour, there are at least 1,500 individuals whom we were able to provide a ride too. So the problem isn't as big as some would think. IMO, it isn't the manufacturer's job to accomodate for the overweight. Supposivly they design around the "average" individual, so as to provide the safest ride to the largest amount of people. I'm sorry if you dont fit in that group, but the parks usually wish to get the most people on, as quickly and as safely as possibly. If the park finds it necessary to include larger restraint-capacity, then it is the manufacturers job to cater to the park. -Jahan
  5. ^ Very true. Those lapbars are down, and past the "armrest" thingys. I wont exactly jump straight to "its his fault he's dead", but I'm aint blaiming Intamin either, for sure. -Jahan
  6. Your good....your very good. Well I am definitely liking what I am seeing. Granted, I wish the station were larger, but still, this ride looks freakin sweet! Much better colors than X's, most definitely! Too bad for that outside raven-turn though--that is really the only "bad" part of X. -Jahan "One ticket to Japan please" Makanvand
  7. I donated blood for the first time today! Jahan "*passes out*" ....
  8. Man...that sucks! I really wanted to ride that one to. Dive Devil, not so much. ...but Thrill Shot, yes, I did want to ride! -Jahan
  9. I have only felt sick on a ride when I dont eat. I mean, if I eat a super-plus-chili-cheese-triple-deal-supremo, then I may be a bit cautious as to what I ride--but if its a normal park, burger and fries, then I'll feel free to ride. I used to actually buy lunch, and take it to X, and eat my lunch in the line for X, because by the time I actually got on, I didn't have an uncomfortable "full" feeling. Lol.
  10. Its equally hard to find a decent Space Mountain (Disneyland) layout picture. Here's what I have managed to scrape up: Last but certainly not least, is Robb's Hong Kong Disneyland, Space Mountain POV, with the lights on: http://www.themeparkreview.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=21237 The Hong Kong Disneyland's Space Mountain is nearly identical to the Disneyland one, layout wise, so its a great reference. Well, I hope this is kinda what you were looking for. As for the WDW Space Mountain, I dont remember a thing from it, so I cannot guarentee that these are correct...but I hope they help somehow: Welp there you go! These are all I have been able to dig up in my whole few-years of Disney-geekdom! -Jahan
  11. Very crude, but...yea: I hope that it helps! If not, try looking at it in conjunction with a POV of the ride...that helped me a bit. I admit, for years I have been searching for a good rendition of the layout, and have yet to find one which satisfies me. -Jahan
  12. Coastenovice....I'm sorta confined to SoCal, mostly.
  13. ^ I'm shooting for the "shortest distance" award. ...although, my parents are still deliberating as to if I am allowed to go. They still think that you guys are gonna rape me. -Jahan
  14. You know--I honestly can relate. I dont really care for water parks. The only one I have been too is Hurricane Harbor, in CA, and I havn't been there in years. I just cant bring myself to entirely enjoy doing stuff like that.
  15. Well y'know if it doesn't have Thorpe Park in the title... *ahem* ...that put a smile on my face. -Jahan P.S. Some of these sports are really crazy!
  16. RCT definitely got me started, I must say.
  17. Thanks for the kind comments guys! I wish I had more pictures from around the park, but my parents were in charge of the camera, so, you know how it goes! -Jahan
  18. I went to the 50th with my aunt, who didn't feel like riding the bigger rides. But, I used her ticket for a FastPass anyway--so I have about 7 Fastpasses labeled "Sunday, July 17th, 2005". I compiled those with the complementary 50th map, complementary 50th mousears, the tickets we used that day--and of course, the Los Angeles Times from that Sunday, which had an article on the park's 50th. Now I just need that damn "I was there" pin. So yea--I'm collecting that stuff. It isn't that old yet, but I'm hoping that it will last another 50 years.
  19. Heres an idea.... Shapiro, a former executive at Walt Disney Co.'s (DIS.N: Quote, Profile, Research) ESPN unit, said marketing partnerships are also a major priority for the new management team, with talks already underway with pizza maker Papa Johns. "We're going to have strategic partners," he said. "The future of these parks is they should be seen as a supermarket of high-end entertainment." We all know that SF is looking to make new business partners. You should let us pick the business partner(s) for SF in the next contest! Imagine all of the ride theming.
  20. Thats strange--most rides have gotten lessrough as I have gotten taller/fatter.
  21. I have a few pins. Now that I have a few extra bucks from work, I am seeing if I will justify paying 150 bucks for the DL 50th "I was there" Pin....I was there. I just didn't get the pin! In 50 years, I will still have the pin, and the cost will be forgotten, so I possibly will get one.
  22. I have always considered it teal. When RCT2 came out with the supports blue, I was like "WTF!" ...granted it has faded much.
  23. Welp folks, as everybody's been doing these Retro TR's, I thought I'd do one. Sure, I may not be old enough to participate in f***-talk, but a am barely old enough to do a Retro TR. There is a first for everything. Im my case, this Trip Report shows my very first trip to Disneyland. I was 2 and a half, and this took place during the summer of 1991. The park was truely in the middle of a transition, becoming the modern park it is today, while retaining its retro charming color, mood, and atmoshpere. Sorry, but as I was only 2 and a half, I wasn't in charge of the camera, and my parents dont take pictures of rides like I do--so all of the pictures have me in it. I know--it sucks. But at least I was cute at 2 and a half--dont know where that went. Also, all of the pictures were taken on Mainstreet and in Fantasyland. I guess we didn't have a camera elsewhere or something. Oh, yea--Robb was a CM, working at DL at this time! But sorry, I havn't found any pictures of him in it. So I guess I'll stop blabbering and get to the darn pictures. One final shot of me shakin' hands with Mickey. Well, I sure hope that you folks enjoyed my Retro TR! I sure had fun diggin up all these old pictures! Quiet--I'm expressing myself in front of IASW. ...btw, if you look closely in the background, you can see a crane. Just as I am now known for my Tatsu construction updates, I was then known for my ToonTown construction updates! How come I look like I'm smelling him? Two dopeys and a dad. Sounds like a sitcom! Hey! Psh...He's sure got a lot of guts making fun of me, for being Bashful. Me and my dad on King Arthur's Carrousel. "Hehehe...I got the whole ride to myself....I'm so freakin' cool." The face on the left belongs to a Disneyland Cast Member. The face on the right belongs to a SFMM Employee. Spot the difference? Here's me and my dad riding Dumbo-The Flying Elephant. I decided to not use a Robb joke here, so you guys owe me one! Alright, the jackets off, and now I'm waiting in line for the It's A Small World auditions. Luckily, I didn't make the cut. Yay! There I am at 2 and a half years old! That would be my first pair of mousears proudly on my head. ....I wonder where those went. Lol...My sis is in the stroler.
  24. Wow. Thanks for the nice trip report Julie! We all give each other a glimpse of our lives with these Photo TRs, and I find that these retro TRs do so the most. So thanks for sharing with us! -Jahan
  25. ^ Some pages back? Try the post before his. -Jahan
