  1. Sound City Players @ the Palladium. Amazing show--covered every genre of rock.
  2. I suspect we would have seen more archways to prepare for building an enclosure if they intended to cover it.
  3. I think he's saying that exit gift shop money from new attraction > sponsorship money from innoventions.
  4. It wasn't written in stone, but was definitely a "wink wink nudge nudge" type of deal when the NFL came to speak to the cities who had to foot the bill. Another example is tell telling San Diego's city council they are out of the Super Bowl rotation until they get a new stadium. I for one welcome the possibility of snow. I would love to see an "epic" battle in the snow for the title.
  5. I think that would make the game more fun to watch...from the comfort of my living room! All the executives will just go hide in one of the many clubs or their suites, since that is basically who attends the Super Bowl now anyways.
  6. A $1.6 billion dollar stadium just outside of one of the financial capitols of the world will get you a Super Bowl, no matter how bad the weather is.
  7. The interesting thing to me is this line: That's only interesting to me because IIRC, the reason SFDK transferred Shouka to Sea World was because in the U.S. there was a rule against having a killer whale on its own. As far as the rest of the allegations? Definitely horrible if true, but one re-occuring theme seems to be bitter ex-employees. Not saying the allegations aren't true, but it seems odd that all these trainers would put up with the horrible treatment for so long before suddenly seeing the light.
  8. The crazy thing is there is actually some backlash to Iger's response. I say good for Iger. Basically called out a politician for being a politician. Love it.
  9. ^^CItywalk and USH have hosted this event in the past and it was always insanely popular.
  10. I think now they are focusing more on the production side of things: innovating with lighting/video/set automation/sound, which I personally think is cool even if the acrobatic side of things are just more of the same.
  11. ^It wouldn't be the NHL thread without you complaining about the Caps.
  12. I think the picture Wes posted is the real reason he targets amusement parks. How many other donations linked to the industry does he have?
  13. ^There is. The other wheel is actually under construction behind Imperial Palace/The Quad at the end of the street that will eventually become the "open air shopping/dining" area between The Quad and Harrah's.
  14. Yeah, exactly. There's a ton of issues to figure out (such as how you distribute glasses in the first place), which is why I imagine Disney would file for the patent now so they can own it while refining the concept.
  15. I disagree. My favorite part of World of Color is the buzz lightyear portion because the lasers add a new dimension to it. Even though it is technically impressive, watching a Disney clipshow with water cannon's gets boring after awhile. I think integrating some 3d portions of the show would make it more enjoyable.
  16. It's the offseason. Dissecting logos is what we do. I agree with the criticisms though: like the attempt to modernized, but it still feels old. I would have gone even more retro (since that's hip now)
  17. I'm going to guess that within 10 years it will be a casino with a water park still operated by Ed Hart. I really don't think the amusement park side of things is going to be sustainable.
  18. Isn't this the second park president in the last few years? I seem to remember them bringing on a new president at the same time Bonnie took over at SFMM?
  19. I'm sure a seapen would work great in Orlando and San Antonio!
  20. You fight Rebels, get chased by Razorback, Tigers and Bulldogs, and the finale is that you get squashed by a giant elephant's A$$. Don't forget the part about being up on a bunch of random characters no one has ever heard of (see SEC non-conference schedules). That could actually make for an interesting dark ride concept if done well...especially in the south.
  21. Thank goodness. The ballroom they were using for big shows was a joke. Literally a ballroom with temporary risers and a high priced temporary bar. The use of the pool as a concert venue is pretty cool though! In other Vegas news that will make Elissa happy: Tom Colicchio is inheriting the Kokomo Cafe space at the front of Mirage.
  22. Still don't think this will work out, but at least they came to terms on a deal that can potentially benefit both parties.
  23. And, unlike most parks that would ignore a comment like this, Silverwood liked it... If I was on Silverwood's PR team, I would like it too. Just to mess with enthusiasts.
  24. Exactly. If you pay for a budget resort, you shouldn't expect the amenities of a deluxe.
