  1. ^Good call. The Sapphire Princess is still out in LA. I'll have to work on convincing my coworkers to do that one instead of a Klassy Kruise.
  2. I hope so! They'd definitely have me as a customer (probably more than once), even if the ports are the usual boring west coast ports.
  3. R.I.P Dr. Jerry Buss. Greatest sports owner of all time!
  4. I'm not the least bit surprised he went for the water park first. It does make business sense. It's essentially an insurance policy---ride park fails, he still has that to fall back on if/when redevelopment talks begin with the fair board again for the "future use" they mentioned.
  5. I think people are reading too far into the park changing its policy. Manufacturers actually set the requirements. I'm sure all that happened was that the park got sued and then went to the manufacturer to seek further clarification.
  6. Sadly, my coworkers want to take a Klassy Cruise. It's time like this I wish Royal Caribbean didn't abandon LA.
  7. Christmas break hangover. Students are still getting back into the swing of things and people are still worrying about holiday expenses.
  8. Pretty much every new theme park show/attraction will get some sort of TEA award, since TEA is made up of people who worked on those projects and want recognition. As for world of color? It's technically impressive, but mostly Disney trailers with fountains. The only good parts are where they try something different with lazers and fire (Buzz Lightyear & Pirates segments).

  10. As long as the rides have low height requirements (which I doubt, since this is Cedar Fair we are talking about), that is all families will care about.
  11. I think that second photo is photo shopped. Kong was open today, so much ado about nothing I think...
  12. It's presidents day weekend. I'm sure every so cal theme park was much busier than usual.
  13. On the topic of milking the cash cow, I wonder how many suckers are buying stuff on the Android game?
  14. To be honest, I don't think the color of the wash lights on the building matter to the majority of TPR members. I care much more about the actual ride experience, which to me, without knowing every single little detail of the attraction, is still looking good.
  15. I didn't even know or care that they changed the color of the wash lights on ToT.
  16. Mine was Wacky Soap Box Racers.
  17. Talk is great...securing financing and actually doing it will get me interested.
  18. True story: Pony Express was a last minute addition. Jack Falfas went to IAAPA, liked the concept, and bought one. That probably explains why the layout ended up so short.
  19. Interesting. Now that she's gone, could SeaWorld San Diego be allowed to build another legitimate coaster (Like Orlando's Kraken or Steel Eel), or are there still some regulations applied? Things still require the approval of both the coastal commission and the city of San Diego, but I would say that there is much more support for larger projects than before.
  20. You guys are forgetting something. Yes Ed has announced that he plans on doubling the size of the waterpark, which is needed. He has also said that he will be adding something to the dry side but he isnt given out that information because of competition with Kings Island and Holiday World. The only thing that we know is that he will add in TWO MAJOR THRILL RIDES in 2014. When Ed operated the park in the 1990s the major thrill rides he added in his time was The Hellavator, and the Quake! Both rides were a "World First" BTW. Could there be a World first in 2014? There's a HIGH good chance. If you don't know what the Quake is, here's a video of it in action in the link below http://blip.tv/ridemanvideo/the-quake-at-kentucky-kingdom-6016211 I'll believe it when they are actually under construction. His lease only requires $1 million in improvements every year, and the water park additions will easily cover that.
  21. Something that just dawned on me: This was the same ship that was briefly seized by U.S. Marshal's because of a lawsuit over the Concordia disaster. Mentioned in that lawsuit was how Triumph allegedly suffered from "dangerous" design flaws that factored into the Concordia disaster.
  22. I think folks are reading something that isn't there(going to all water park) and there's a good deal of "wishing" it to fail so their doubts that it would reopen would be realized. No one here is wishing for it to fail. But lets look at the bigger picture: Holiday World, Beech Bend, and Kings Island are three major competitors all within "daycation" range of the park...and instead of making a big splash, his first focus is on the water park. Nothing says "we want your business back!" like doubling the size of the water park...unless you want the water park to be a focal point of your business.
  23. ^^Speaking of lawsuits, I have no doubt Carnival will do everything possible to fight them once they inevitably start coming in. Instead of doing the right thing and coming to a reasonable settlement "without accepting fault."
