  1. Looks incredible! I absolutely love that we are entering a new age for wooden roller coasters, with the RMC coasters+Intamin pre-fabs raising the bar!
  2. ^It's not that they don't see a profit...it's just that the economic impact that they sell tax payers into believing will come with a Super Bowl don't even come close to those projections.
  3. ^That's exactly why they would lie about it. Can't concede there was actually noise issues after fighting it for so long. But calling it an afterthought when their sister park coincidentally has a tunnel over the drop of their wooden coaster to shield noise from the hotel? Riiiight.
  4. ^Exactly. There's nothing wrong with adapting old technology and making it new again. New Dark ride or 30 year old motion simulator, all that people will care about is the product itself.
  5. The Super Bowl is over rated
  6. First day of the NFL year, and already all sorts of movement... Percy Harvin to Seattle & Anquan Boldin to San Fran. The NFC West just got even more interesting.
  7. I'm guessing USH wasn't interested in closing down the back half of the park (where stuff like their main special events venue & VIP lunch area reside) to accommodate a 24/7 construction schedule...not to mention the differences in building codes and everything else. As far as the ride system is concerned...Transformers is based off of Spiderman, which is now a 20 year old ride design itself...so I don't get what the big deal is.
  8. Maybe they'll have a show in the new YOLO Land where we do a harlem shake and the gangham style dance?
  9. Good addition for the park...something else family friendly with a lower height requirement. Who doesn't love the minions?!?
  10. This version of Oz was very visual effects laden...not so sure it would translate as an actual land.
  11. ^You've got it all wrong Robb. They're clearly just going to ship it to another park and put a new coat of paint on it. Guests will be horrified to learn its not a brand new ride!
  12. Looks like a very cool event! Will definitely have to plan a trip to Orlando around this event next year!
  13. I saw $4.81 in West LA the other night.
  14. norovirus is so common on cruise ships it really isn't a big deal.
  15. ^^To be fair, there has been a ton of innovation in terms of stadium/arena amenities (read: revenue streams) over the last 25 years. When one team gets something, the other ones automatically want it too. New Orleans will still get games because it has a ton of hotel rooms/touristy things to do (read: keep sponsors busy), and just completed the final phase of a $320 million renovation in 2011. So it's actually not that dated. Usually the NFL dangles a Super Bowl to cities in order to get them to commit to financing a new stadium (in other words: get ripped off).
  16. That actually makes me think a bit higher of the ride...kind of cool it's so low to the ground!
  17. We went to the local A&W at the end of the summer the food was baaaad and it was priced the same as a sit down table service place. We will not be going back. Ouch at the cost. BTW - is A&W an American franchise? Or a Canadian one? It has been around here for as long as I remember, from my high school days. It started in California and is now two separate companies for the U.S. and Canada.
  18. ^Not to get this thread off track, but when you are in a theme park you are on private property. You automatically agree to their terms (which could include being completely non-smoking) by entering the park.
  19. There's nothing funny about it. Please stop talking about it.
  20. I seriously don't know if you are joking or not...but if you aren't...Uhm...I don't even know what to say.
  21. Did you honestly expect them to buy all new fiberglass shells for the cars?
  22. A ratcheting lap bar system has some give to it by design between ratchets, which when mixed in with the right forces could lead to your body getting enough space to slip out. Add in a shin pad to restrain you from the shins and that can't happen. The shin pad is essentially grabbing your body by the legs.
  23. You took his comment out of context. He is 100% correct. Without the shin pads, premiers lap bar restraints would NOT be suitable for YOLOCoaster because they use a ratcheting system to lock. That's 100% fact. He also clearly explained why those rides you linked to photos of do not have shin pads.
