  1. Sadly, there's always going to be a market for Carnival---they're the WalMart of cruise ships. People can't resist the cheaper prices and "booze cruise" atmosphere.
  2. I'm thinking this will be yet another project that starts construction but doesn't finish.
  3. ...Meanwhile, Micky Arison is sitting court side at a Heat game.
  4. ^It's probably a pretty insignificant amount of the $2.1 billion, but that number probably also includes whatever fees they collect from Singapore and Japan for the licensing rights as well. Steve Burke is a former Disney executive with a theme park background (EuroDisney), so I'm sure he understands the value of having a strong theme park business.
  5. ^^The councilwoman that always gave Sea World problems is no longer around. I think they could make it work.
  6. Great photos! I really enjoyed HKDL,and the new additions look awesome.
  7. On the bright side, I believe they have cut ties with all the controversial charities they supported.
  8. And so the conversion to water park only begins!
  9. I say good for the park. That theater was in BAD shape.
  10. This must be what is replacing the 4d theater?
  11. My favorite thing so far has been the CNN article: Quotes from actual passengers saying how it is disgusting...and reference to someone on cruisecritic saything things are fine and they are enjoying the extended vacation. I wonder which one of those is the carnival marketing shill?
  12. Pretty much. They changed the name when they de-themed the NYNY casino floor to be yet another bland, err I mean "modern," looking casino.
  13. ^And there you have the reason Disney is investing $1 billion in MyMagic+.
  14. That's because they require a ton of maintenance to stay operating. Many parks/traveling shows traded theirs in for other rides.
  15. B&M doesn't even do their own control systems. That's Consign. It's entirely possible whomever designed the launch system told B&M what they designed, sent them blueprints, and said "here, design track for this. (which is basically how Disney does their rides)." I don't think it is true to say that B&M has to do it all.
  16. Universal Japan shows the Sesame Street 4D movie in the same theater as Shrek. Rights are generally sold on a country to country (or region) basis. That's how Universal Japan also ended up with Snoopy.
  17. I agree that would be smart. Aside from a ride breaking down, slow food service is one other variable Disney is directly responsible for. Not only that, what if you get your fastpass first and a restaurant only has reservation times available in the same window? Can't imagine Disney would want to miss out on that revenue. I hope that CM's are still given some flexibility when situations like that come up.
  18. Very impressive production value for Universal. Love that Universal seems to be trying to go the extra mile with everything they're doing lately.
  19. Do the Grammys count as a concert? I really only cared for the Black Keys and the closing performance, but it was cool to see Justin Timberlake and Jay Z and Elton John perform as well. Also, can be please be done with Mumford and Sons already?
  20. Sounds like a cool story - can you share more about that party? There's nothing more to share. Apparently Jim Carrey likes bumper cars and was bummed they were closed, so he wanted to know why.
  21. Why the sad face? God forbid you abide by what is printed on the ticket.
  22. Was it ever even confirmed that they wouldn't do the Hulk launch? Or was that just urban legend enthusiasts kept passing around?
  23. ^I'm guessing they're just getting the easy stuff now before going into heavy demolition mode. I too hope some of the rock work/mountain can remain.
  24. Anyone can release a single for the radio...whether it gets played is another story...and whether anyone they're marketing to listens to the radio is another. That's not necessarily true, the vast majority of music you hear on the radio is not requested, rather, the record companies pay a fee to guarantee a specific number of plays per hour/day/week. If Six Flags or the artists record label pays to have the track play over and over again, then you will hear it over and over again regardless of what the public wants to hear. I've been thinking about this statement and how it can be labeled as 'first' and I truly believe this makes sense...these days you just buy your way into popularity....now that Clear Channel and CBS basically own the entire radio market. That's actually illegal unless they disclose it as "sponsored airtime."
  25. I really hope Six Flags isn't paying for this promotion...
