Thanks for the great PTR. This is the second report for SFOG I've seen in the last few weeks and it's making me really curious to visit this park someday. I never realised how perty it is! Also, I agree that people seem to ignore the Cyclone. It wasn't even mentioned in the other PTR I read, and, since it's the Cyclone clone that's most similar to the original, (now that the one in Texas is gone), you would think it must be awesome. According to your report, I guess it is! Ya, and if Ninja is anything like it's relative Gouderix at Parc Asterix, I can imagine how terrible it is. It's too bad, because they're both really nice to look at, but I've never gotten so badly headbanged as on Gouderix. -
Wilkommen zurueck in Deutschland! Unfortunately, I never got the chance to come to EPCOT and end up in this very interesting thread. Oh well. How do you feel now that it's over? I remember when I left after my internship at Disney, I though, "OK, I'm really glad I did that, but I've had enough now." Sadly, I haven't been back to WDW since my last day as a cast member in 1994!!! Been to Tokyo, Paris, and Cali, but never back to FL.

And check out the guy in the 4th row, (in the white shirt with dark stripes). He's doing it too!!! What's that all about? -

Ok, is there some new trend I didn't hear about? If you check out this pic, you can clearly see the guy in the first row grabbing the titty of the girl next to him. Look! -
I totally agree. Now that they've got another woodie, they've gotta get a B&M floorless or better yet, a looping accelerater; like Maverick at CP or Storm Runner at Hershey! Maybe they'll move Dominator from Geauga to Valleyfair one of these days...

Absimilliard, thank you for writing all that! I never knew so much about the history of such a badly managed park. Do they seriously have OTR's on a simulator? WTF is that about? Do the seats go upside down or are there at least stereo headphones built in to enhance the sound or something? Boarding up the lake to make people pay for the fireworks show is also very classy. Unbeleivable.

I love seeing trip reports of my old home park. Actually, since I lived in MN until I was 18, I still kind of consider it my home park. Don't be so critical of your pictures. Those dusk shots of Steel Venom look like they could be postcards! The clouds in the backround look photoshopped, they're so perfect. 2 comments: 1) The Corkscrew was actually built by Arrow, and it was one of the very first Arrow custom loopers. The reason they installed the onride video on the Corkscrew is because, (although hard to beleive), it is the most ridden coaster in the park! 2) Let me get this straight, you think they should keep Excalibur and torch the Highroller??????? Lil' Shaver is worth praise, but not the Highroller? One of the few remaining IAD coasters, and with it's original trains, and you think they should TORCH it? Please explain.

You can find pov videos of Le Monstre tracks there : http://s92166068.onlinehome.us/mvidpg1_en.htm Le Monstre first drop is not steep at all and it's not going down very far either. The train is really slow in the overbanked helix, you would think the train would fall on the left side or come to a complete stop in the helix. I had a little pop of airtime in the top of the third hill on the track 2, the faster side... The rollercoaster have almost no speed or airtime but it's really smooth at least. It's tough to tell what a ride is like from a video, I know, but after watching those videos, I'm amazed at how different both sides are. The left side is sooooo much faster than the right side, isn't it? The right side looks like a long scenic railway, but the left side actually looks like it might be an OK backseat ride? Regardless of what it's like to ride it, it sure is visually impressive just to look at.

Rides you won't do again
MrMorgan replied to spaceace12's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Wow, I'm really suprised at the coasters some people picked. I would never ride Gouderix at Parc Asterix again. It was by far THE most painful headbashing I have ever received on any of the 350+ coasters I have ridden. A close second would only be X at SFMM, and I would only ride that again if it was a walk-on. -
Wow, that really was a lot of trash! It's like no one has cleaned it the entire summer. That much trash doesn't come from one day of understaffing or something. LeMonstre has always intrigued me. That first drop looks so "not steep" and boring. Is there any airtime on the ride at all? Laterals? Does anyone have a pov video?

Wait, are you saying Jr. Gemini is NOT a 10/10?!?!

This is so freaky! How can this happen? http://www.wlky.com/news/13547817/detail.html LOUISVILLE, Ky. -- Police confirmed that a 13-year-old girl's feet have been cut off at Six Flags' Kentucky Kingdom. Officials said they got the call around 5 p.m. Thursday and both her feet were detached at the ankle. According to MetroSafe dispatch supervisors, the girl was riding the Superman Tower of Power, which is 177 feet tall and drops riders at 54 miles per hour. According to Kentucky Kingdom, the girl was injured when the ride malfunctioned. “We seen the cable break loose soon as it got to the top on the right-hand side,” said Chris Williams, who witnessed the event. Treva Smith said it snapped again as the ride descended. “The people on the ride just came and hit the ground,” Smith said. Next, Williams said she saw the teen maimed. “As the ride came down, the wire swung left, struck the young lady on the back side of my children,” Williams said. Williams’ daughter Amber said she gave up her seat to the 13-year-old and was sitting on the other side of the ride. Williams rushed toward the ride to find his daughter. As Smith raced to find members of her group she said she made a gruesome discovery. “When I got up there, the lady, she was just sitting there and she didn’t have no legs,” Smith said. “She didn’t have no legs at all. She was just calm, probably in shock from everything.” Smith said she saw no blood and the girl wasn’t crying but the same couldn’t be said for many who witnessed the incident on the ride formerly known as the Hellevator. “My son’s over there tripping out man,” Williams said. “You want to come to a park and feel safe you know. We’ve got season passes. We’re not coming back for sure.” But other visitors aren’t so worried. “Every park, one in a million maybe something happens,” park visitor Kenneth Lay said. “But I have no fear.” On scene EMT personnel were on hand to immediately transport the girl to a hospital. As of 10:34 p.m. Thursday there was no word on her condition. The ride was shut down and will remain so until a full investigation has been completed.

Um, what??? Why would you want to look at a trip report of blurry pictures? Anyways. Even though the bathroom appears normal, that music is indeed VERY strange. Can you imagine being the person who got the contract to produce that song? "Ya, hi. We're calling because we want you to write and record an original song for our bathroom at Universal Studios..." And to those hatin' on someone who took a picture inside a bathroom. GEEZ. There are entire websights for fans of bathroom fixtures around the world. Check this out: http://www.urinal.net/#gallery And back to the topic. I love Blue Man Group, too! I've seen it here in Berlin 4 times, (it helps that my best buddy is the technical director!) They recently moved from a larger theater to a more intimate venue here and changed the show somewhat, and I have to say I liked the "bigger show" better. -

Camel toe. Extremely funny. I agree with your soapbox speech about visiting the tiny parks that are dying out nowadays, by the way! -
What about the Cyclone? No one really talks about this ride, and I've always found it interesting because, (as far as I know), it's the closest copy of the original at Coney Island.

Applebees Serves 2 Year Old A Margarita In a Sippy Cup!!!
MrMorgan replied to GMAN962's topic in Random, Random, Random
I love how Applebees is being personified in this thread. "Applebees serves 2 year old margarita", "Applebees served me a bug...". It's like all Applebees are one Borg-like entity that only offer poor service. It's not an option that there are people involved. Shouldn't it be more like "Waiter at Applebees serves 2 year old Margarita"? Something about the way that was reported just seems wrong to me. I'm not sure what got me onto this rant... -
I heard a rumor that they're working on making Mean Streak floorless for 2008. Great trip report, by the way.

I want to represent TPR.com at a press event and get special privelages, too!!! Looks like you had an awesome day, and Shakira looks fantastic. Is it just me, or do those 2 guys you interviewed sound like they're not really TALKING to you and more like they're just quoting some pre-written script? You know what I mean?

Non Texan! This is, (no offense meant to anyone), THE BEST PTR everrrrrrr. What a great idea to have the pics, and then the short streaming videos in between. It breaks up the pace and you get the best of both worlds: videos and pics. I hope everyone starts doing this and I know I will in the future, too! Really really great idea. One question. If you were all the way down in Texas, why didn't you go to Astroworld? Ok, just kidding. But one serious question. What was rough about the drop on the Tehas Tornado? Was it like, bad woodie rough, or like, slam you down after intense airtime rough? Can you please describe the spine crushing a bit more elaborately?

TPR Valleyfair Meet THIS SUNDAY!!!
MrMorgan replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I'm so bummed I can't be there this weekend. I'm going home to visit my family in St. Paul in 2 weeks, (and of course to ride Renegade). I hope you guys have a blast at my ex-home park and former part-time employer. And to add fuel to the Wild Thing fire, I have to admit that it's the tamest of all the hypers I've ridden, but at least it's not painful or low capacity. Tame isn't necessarily bad. If you want to, you can ride it over and over. My only complaint are the HUGE cars Morgan built for it. Small kids, (or small adults for that matter), can hardly see over the sides. Check out my Valleyfair (called Beautiful Day) video in the forum here, (or you can stream it on my websight). My sister is short, (I think like 5-2"), and you can see how high the side of the car is in relation to her. -

Can you please give me an example of how Fuji-Q, Yomiuriland, Laqua, etc are homemade rip offs of Disney? According to rcdb, there are over 200 amusement parks just in China and Japan alone, (including the official Disney Parks). That's not including all the other Asian countries "over there". Anyways, you seriously think that they are all Disney rip-offs? You should spend some more time watching videos of people's Asia trips on this sight... -

OMG! am I the only person who thinks that the size of this small hill in relation to that big drop would produce massive airtime?!? Maybe the ride was closed because they were still picking pieces of past riders out of the trees above it! -
Yes, good idea. Maybe watch a few episodes of MacGyver first for inspiration.
