My mother told me about a local travel agency that will go to Germany-Poland at the end of September to the beginning of October on trip themed to visiting the sites where the past two Popes, this current Pope Benedict and John Paul II lived, studied, and such. I was wondering if they were going to stop at Oktoberfest but it's not a part of the official itinerary. They're arriving in Munich for a day in the city and I thought maybe after the scheduled dinner there may be time to take a cab and go to the festival. The demographic of the trip will seem to be older. I was part of a France-Portugal trip where it was such and I ended up finishing all the wine bottles. The rest of the trip looks to be very beautiful and cultural as expected but I might be putting too much at stake to chance. I might be setting myself up for a big tease but it's a chance at the Holy Grail for fairs for enthusiasts even for a few hours. I'm weighing this trip decision this week.

I had a long drive from Jersey before I got to Maverick. I didn't like it as well. I thought it was too rough. I basically had the other same reactions about the place over the last 10 years. I will say that I just don't get Magnum like other people do. Blue Streak was one of the better coasters at the park. I can't recall if I got Woodstock Express there as well. -
I thought the prelift on Hercules was the best part of the ride. The prelift was pretty good. The one on Predator slightly reminds me of it. Hydra's prelift is only good for the jo jo roll. The turn afterwards to the lift is terrible. It still tops all the other B&M prelifts. I always liked the tunnel on Phoenix. The prelift on Roar! is better than the one on Thunderhead.

Your favorite coaster tunnel

Texas Tornado! One of those credits I really wish I got, especially before they changed the first drop. -
Your favorite coaster tunnel
CHILLERLC1 replied to chavslayer's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I love the tunnels on the Lochness Monster, Phoenix, and the Incredible Hulk. I think the worst tunnel ever is the one on Anaconda. -
Kentucky - hmm. If you snake through West Virginia I guess you'll be closer to Williamsburg when you get out to 81 if you end up driving. My first impression was Hershey.

What Was The Last Coaster You Rode?
CHILLERLC1 replied to SharkTums's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
The Great American Scream Machine @ SFGADV, now with American flags off the station's edge. It was smooth for an Arrow the first ride I've had on it this year. -

Most Overrated coaster?
CHILLERLC1 replied to BlackWidow's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
VIPER @ SFGADV. It came around when I was a young teenager. The coils made it look so cool in person but really that was the only blip of a ride. It was way too short and banked terribly. Thank goodness it's gone. That is what I continually got from this ride over 3 visits spaced throughout this last decade. Does it have something against we Northeasters because I don't see what the deal with the ride is? -
I finally made it to the closest park/credit to my house - Sesame Place. The weather was brutally hot, just like rest of the Northeast this weekend. It's a kiddie ride waterpark located just north of Philly in Langhorne, PA, owned by Anheiser Busch. It's right next to a very busy regional mall/Rt. 95. When I was in preschool I went on a class trip, my mom forgot to give me my swimsuit so I was traumatized with this place. This park was really grown from that simple waterpark setting in the 80s to have a lazy river and more modern water attractions today. The park today also has an Elmo's World with a handful of new flat rides, a Sesame Street area, show arenas, the (Grover's) Vapor Trail Vekoma family coaster that was added in 1998. It's an expensive park to attend if you don't have a family/younger siblings that it's catered to and you just want the credit. I was last there in like 1996 when my sister was young enough. This was before the coaster but with the great waterpark additions. I loved the lifeguards then as a middle schooler but today I see they're just high school girls since I'm older. Today my college alumni association had an event at the park. $25 for admission and a buffet was a killer price considering the best deals I could get for this park before was in the $30 range. At the front of the park is Vapor Trail, the Vekoma family coaster. It's built onto the slope of the land. Bucks County PA has gentle rolling hills. The coaster ran two trains, which allowed walkups all day. This coaster features a right turn uphill helix then a left turn downward helix under the lift. The following final helix was a right downward helix before the train did a s turn like turnaround to the final brakes. The speakers on the brake run emitted a funny Grover saying "Hey Momma" at the ride's end. I could have stayed on for multiple rerides but the walk around the queue is very short. I don't mind the exercise. It was the only coaster in the park. I had multiple rides throughout the train in the middle, center, front, and rear. The rear seat has a great pop of air of the lift hill. The family genre is what Vekoma should stick to. Their roughness that I can't really tolerate with their inverting coasters could manage just right on the family level. If this coaster was on level ground all the helixes would hug the ground. This fun coaster would be even more fun. Since I had time before the catered picnic I went to Elmo's world. I rode a Zamperla Rockin Tug called Peek a Bug, a Dumbo-Two Fish, One Fish like Flyin' Fish ride featuring Elmo's face on all the cars. I also did the Elmo's Blast Off two sided Frog Hopper ride. Looking at the cargo net obstacle course overhead structure next door brought chills of the past trauma I had as a preschooler for a few seconds. I walked underneath it and rode the Big Bird's Balloon Race ride on the other side. I tried to take pics of the neighboring Vapor Trail from this ride. After this flat I walked by the new carousel with Muppet like faces on the horses, through the rest of the waterpark, the Sesame Street set, past the Rubber Ducky family tube slide to catering area. Hearing all the Sesame Street songs brought back great memories of the show. Bert, Ernie, Cookie Monster, and Elmo appeared for the kids at lunch. I ended my day with at least two more walk on rides on Vapor Trail. Leaving this place I wondered why Busch couldn't have done this with their old Seaworld Ohio property. Too expensive? They could have kept that Happy Harbor structure and did the Cedar Fair waterpark transformation work. Now they want to move the Sesame Street characters throughout the Seaworld chain. I know this place was a good location in relation to New York City and the show's production. Great park, Busch. __________________

Did they add an extra scene @ SFGAM? Otherwise I'm not really jealous of walking through a slanted theatre floor. -
I can understand the idea of being frozen in fear or hesitation after seeing the cable snap but the ride is still crawling upward during the cycle. That surely seems safer than the unknown of what would happen of letting it all go, the forces multiplying to that of the intensity of gravity taking over. We know what happened but with this snapped cable now presenting a cycle not seen before out of safety E-stop should have been pressed as soon as possible.

The ride was down for little less than a year to be refurbished and moved and it still has launch area issues it sounds like. -
If Dominator was still at a SF park I would have rethemed it to the Riddler's Revenge. Then I would sing so many praises for it but now I don't. I prefer my local SFGADV Medusa.

I'll have to look up the thread on TN. I just got Medusa. I have: Dorney 80's logo shirt - One of my most treasured SFGADV 30th Ann Old Rainbow logo shirt - Most treasured shirt Tsunami Clementon Park shirt El Toro yellow shirt SFFT bottle cap logo shirt SFOT 45th Ann shirt SFGADV 45th Ann Shirt Beast shirt Six Flags Coasterdude shirt from 1998 X Riddler's Revenge Tank Top - Thanks for not having the tshirt SF! grrr I wish I had the NITRO logo shirt and although the CHILLER shirts weren't so snazzy I would have wanted the postcard artist's rendition shirt of the ride. I want to get the 45th anniversary shirts from the other parks. I also want a Hershey's hoodie as well. I wish they had a Superman Ride of Steel shirt again.
