  1. Kings Island next Wednesday (the 26th) and Cedar Point the afternoon/evening of the 27th and the morning of the 28th. Might try to squeeze in Holiday World/Kentucky Kingdom on the 25th
  2. I'd love to go to a park with you sometime! It looks like you have lots of fun
  3. If Michigan's Adventure were to get a coaster in the next few years, it will be one of these: 1. A relocation from another Cedar Fair park 2. RMC conversion of Wolverine Wildcat 3. Either an RMC Raptor or a Premier Sky Rocket II that would replace Corkscrew
  4. It's really fun! When I think about what coaster I have had the most fun on, it's that one. So it's #1. Millie was my #1 before riding Steel Vengeance
  5. SFDK gets the Golden Ticket for being: "The only Six Flags park to open their new for 2019 coaster on schedule (sorry SFA, yours doesn't count as it wasn't a ground up new coaster, just a renovation of an existing one)"
  6. I'm going to be in northern Virginia for a wedding this weekend. My Friday is wide open until the evening. Would it be worth it to run down to KD from the Winchester area on Friday for the day? I have a Platinum Pass, so parking and entry would be free. I have looked at Google Maps and it is about a 2 hour drive from Winchester to Doswell.
  7. Mr Freeze was delayed a year because the Texas version had a major collision in testing. The LIM fins ended up raming in to the LIM motors. There were other related issues with the housings. http://web.archive.org/web/20130324040452/http://home.roadrunner.com/~gep2/mrfreeze.html 1997 was not a good year for launched coasters. Neither Mr. Freeze opened at all that year, and Chiller (at SFGAdv) opened briefly.
  8. I wasn't the biggest fan of Kumba, but I feel like I need to re-ride it. I was only able to ride it once when I went due to (a) one train operations and (b) trying to get all the big coasters in prior to my bus back to Orlando. It also didn't help that it was over 100 degrees that day
  9. How long have Green Lantern and Apocolypse been closed? If they've been closed a long time, I'm surprised RCDB hasn't listed either as SBNO
  10. I also remember at least a few years Cedar Point started their season on a Sunday
  11. Last year, the park was open the first weekend in May before being closed most of the next week, starting daily operations the following Friday (the 11th). What is the earliest and latest dates Cedar Point has been open?
  12. I was at Cedar Point last night and did the following: Steel Vengeance x4 GateKeeper x2 Maverick x2 Millennium Force x2 Magnum XL-200 Top Thrill Dragster Valravn At early entry rope drop, I went right to GateKeeper and rode that twice in a row (on the first and third trains of the day; in fact, they let me stay in the same seat between the two rides; apparently everyone went to the back as nobody was in the GateKeeper station until coming back from my second lap). After my second lap, I went off to Valravn, which had a short wait. Following that, I went to Millennium Force, which had a 5-10 minute wait. Millie is still a very fun ride and everyone had their hands up all the way around. As 6pm rolled around, I headed back to Steel Vengeance for my first lap. After a roughly 75 minute wait, I was seated for a trimless ride (SV is already my #1 and it gets even better with trims off, which makes the second half much more wilder than it already is). Following SV, I tried Maverick, but I left the line as I had to relieve myself and to buy FL+ for the rest of the night. After getting FL+, I went in the line for Maverick, but FL+ still took about a half hour due to them removing two trains (which still left four on the tracks). Next up was Magnum, which was almost a half hour due to one train operations (but it was trimless). I was planning on heading back to Millennium, but I saw Dragster was running with people, so I hopped in FL+ and after about 10 minutes, I was on and we launched uneventfully. After launching to the sky, the next stop was Millennium, where FL+ still saved 20-30 minutes despite the merge point being so far back. Next, I went back to Steel Vengeance and was able to get three rides in (using FL+) in a half hour. I would have been content with finishing my coaster riding for the year with those trimless night Steel Vengeance rides, but I ran into the group of three I rode Millennium Force with (the second time) and they invited me to ride Maverick with them to end the night. On the way out, I walked past Magnum and Dragster to avoid the Frontier Trail area, which was scary at night. I saw a Dragster rollback just as I got there, so I stuck around to see if it would launch back up. A few minutes later, the train that rolled back launched and there was rejoicing when they saw the train clear the hill. I was tentatively planning on possibly hitting Raptor, but there didn't appear to be any sign of life there when I was leaving around 11:30.
  13. I've been to KI three times and it only rained briefly on one of them. The first time I wish it would have rained because it was nearly 100 degrees
  14. Been to two concerts in the past month. 1. I saw Fleetwood Mac at Van Andel Arena on the 8th. Literally a last minute thing as I got a text from my sister a few hours before show time saying she was able to get really good tickets for a good price. Almost as soon as she sent it, I was on the road bound for Grand Rapids. It was a really good show! The Mac is a band with many hits and played most of them in the set. 2. On the 20th, my sister, her classmate from high school, and I went to Notre Dame Stadium to see Garth Brooks. This one was really good, but different as it was being taped for a concert special to air on CBS in December. What was remarkable is that the stadium was very full (plus floor seating) despite it being cold and rainy most of the day (the rain eventually stopped just as Garth came on stage).
  15. Yes. Corkscrew, Gemini, Iron Dragon, Rougarou, Wicked Twister, Skyhawk, Power Tower, Sky Ride (seemingly closed for the season due to staffing) and Windseeker (seemingly closed for the season due to staffing). A bunch of other smaller rides are closed also. Here is the list of rides that are scheduled to operate. Glad to see most if not all of the E-ticket attractions are open on Friday nights
  16. I would be surprised if there has ever been a day in the last 20 years on which all of SFMM's coasters were open! CP has all of their coasters open on 90-95% of their operating days each season
  17. I might make one more visit Friday night as I have to be downstate anyways tomorrow. Is there early entry for platinum pass holders on Friday nights? Also, are any major rides normally closed on Friday nights?
  18. I knew it was bad, but dang. Forgot to mention the Timbertown Railway addition around 2008. Timbertown used to be just a loop between Shivering Timbers and Wolverine Wildcat. Around 2008, a second station was added between Grand Rapids and ThunderHawk. MiA (along with the other smaller CF parks such as Dorney and Valleyfair) is a cash cow for the big CF parks (I went there once this year and the park was packed, especially the water park area)
  19. Top Ten Steel 1. Steel Vengeance (Cedar Point) 2. Millennium Force (Cedar Point) 3. Maverick (Cedar Point) 4. Mako (SeaWorld Orlando) 5. Incredible Hulk (Islands of Adventure) 6. Banshee (Kings Island) 7. Diamondback (Kings Island) 8. Raptor (Cedar Point) 9. SheiKra (Busch Gardens Tampa) 10. Montu (Busch Gardens Tampa) HM: Cheetah Hunt (Busch Gardens Tampa), Kumba (Busch Gardens Tampa), Magnum XL-200 (Cedar Point), Top Thrill Dragster (Cedar Point), Valravn (Cedar Point) Top Ten Wood 1. Mystic Timbers (Kings Island) 2. Shivering Timbers (Michigan's Adventure) 3. Beast (Kings Island) 4. Racer (Kings Island) 5. Viper (Six Flags Great America) 6. American Eagle (Six Flags Great America) 7. Blue Streak (Cedar Point) 8. Woodstock Express (Kings Island) 9. Mean Streak (Cedar Point) [even though it's not missed, I still found it to be better than 2/3 of Michigan's Adventure's woodie collection] 10. Wolverine Wildcat (Michigan's Adventure) HM: Zach's Zoomer (Michigan's Adventure) [i've only ridden 11 wooden coasters all time] Notes I've ridden all the rides on the steel list at least once in 2018, while on my wooden list, one closed in 2016 and two more I haven't ridden since 2005. Bolded rides are ones I rode for the first time in 2018.
  20. What a coincidence, because I would love to visit some American parks! For a summer trip, some must-includes are Cedar Point and Kings Island
