  1. This sounds like a cool idea to help "excitify" a tame ride, and I'd definitely be interested in trying it out. That being said, as someone who has worn glasses for most of my life, I really DON'T like having to put something over my face / eyes on a ride. Most of the newer attractions at Universal Studios and such don't excite me as much because they are all 3-D and require the special glasses. I prefer regular movies to 3-D movies for the same reason. It is just uncomfortable to me. I still won't pass judgement until I try one someday. David
  2. As an adult, I have no shame - ask any of the people I've been on a TPR trip with . That being said...I can think back to some of the stupid crap I did in my pre-teen years and cringe. For example, a couple of friends and I were maybe 12 at SFoG. For some reason, we were marathoning the Log Ride. Every time we went down the last drop, we'd yell "Oh My F*&^%ng God!" We thought we were so very cool, but I think back to that and just want to slap my younger self for being a douche.
  3. This was a pretty cool report! Thanks for posting it and telling us about something that I know I had no idea about! David
  4. From what I've seen and done, they are doing a FANTASTIC job (as expected .) I'll be really glad when the traffic and parking situation is more "complete." I love the new garage and it will be great to have the 2nd one. We go down there a few times a month to either eat, see a movie, or just walk around and enjoy it. Good to see they quoted our very own Robb in that!! David
  5. ^We are doing it on our anniversary as well. It will be 5 years to the day when we tie the knot.
  6. I see these pictures and I think for the first time in a VERY long time, the words "JAW DROPPING" come to mind. To say I am impressed with what Phantasialand has done would be a vast understatement!!
  7. This is coming along VERY nicely!! Looks great!
  8. I have to say, we did the Safari on the TPR Trip in 2014 and I was SUPER Impressed. I've actually saw more animals than I do on the Disney Safari at Animal Kingdom. There is a giraffe there named Marietta, and she is a Diva.
  9. Wonderful report as always Andy. You forgot one positive outcome out of that day for you guys - the operations and management at SFGadv heard about that experience and totally upped their game for those of us on the 2nd half of that trip Thanks again for posting!
  10. ^That's awesome Bert! Best wishes to you! We just received the "Save the Date" card for ours . We're getting married this October on our 5th anniversary.
  11. Just wanted to wish my friends in this thread a Happy and Healthy New Year!!! You are all way to freaking quiet these days. ENTERTAIN ME!!!
  12. I just wanted to say thank you to the folks who post the construction photo's here (and YAY for the boat!) I log on to TPR at work and cannot see YouTube or construction cams or many outside websites. The only way I ever get to look at the pictures is when they are posted here, so a big thank you to you all!! Valravn looks great also. I find Dive Coasters to be a LOT of fun, so I think it is a good fit for the park. I don't know if it will make a lot of top 5 lists like people are speculating, but I'm sure it will be a fun and a great addition to the park. David
  13. We went to the Studios this past weekend and I noticed the metal detectors. They didn't seem to be causing any problems at all (I wasn't asked to go through them.) As far as toy gun sales, I don't recall ever seeing any toy guns in the first place. Like ever. All and all, it was a nice visit. We went with some friends to see the Osborne Family Lights with some friends since it is the last season for them. The place was PACKED, but we still enjoyed ourselves and got to check out the Star Wars Launch Bay, which was cool.
  14. ^ It wasn't all that great. For me - we went to PCB when I was a kid and teenager. Miracle Strip does have some very fond memories, and I did enjoy the Starliner for what it was - a little roller coaster by the beach. What I remember MORE fondly than the coaster was the awesome Rides-in-a-box that they did with their flat rides, and their Bayern Curve - which I always thought was pretty cool.
  15. Andy, as always - wonderful photos. I also have to tell you that I really love your subtle sense of humor! I think I'm going to try to get to Holiwood Nights next year if at all possible. I love Holiday world and haven't been in entirely too long!
  16. I think that this is a wonderful addition to this park. It will be big, fast, smooth and fun. I love Goliath at SFoG and if this is even close to that, it will be a huge hit. My favorite coasters are like SkyRush and I-305, and I'd love to see one built nearer to me, but in all honesty - that would not be a good fit for Sea World. D
  17. Having ridden both Shiekra and Griffon - I think this is a great addition for Cedar Point. Dive coasters are a unique experience, and even though I have been on more than a few coasters with vertical and beyond vertical drops - the Size and Scope of the Dive Coaster drop is really unique and pretty damned fun. I've also found that of the newer B&M's - the dive coasters give a more "forceful" ride than things like the wing riders, etc. Good on Cedar Point- I'm looking forward to seeing this be constructed.
  18. Thanks Martin! I went back and started at the beginning. It was awesome seeing your Credit signs going from 300 to 1,300! You guys look great and Happy Holidays!!!!
  19. It is awesome to see this much track work done already. I have to say that this looks pretty great and a big improvement over the original. D
  20. I agree wholeheartedly that SFStL is an all around better park and experience than Worlds of Fun. That being said, however, Prowler is better than American Thunder. I'm not saying American Thunder is bad, because it is a really great ride - but Prowler's layout through the woods and that "bouncy" return run are pretty great. I always see people say "get rid of Ninja" and put something else in its place. I just don't understand this. It is certainly not a great coaster - but maintain it and put something new elsewhere. My home park was SFoG - that Ninja is MUCH more vicious than SFStL's, and it still runs and gets riders. If nothing else, whoever is in line for that isn't in line for Mr. Freeze or Batman Just my $0.02
  21. ^Thanks! I meant to say earlier, that is an interesting Paratrooper. It looks much different that the ones I've seen. Are those frogs hanging from it??
  22. ^ Me too Chuck! Thanks so much for taking the time to bring us this report. I really always appreciate your input on the park.
  23. I don't know if that is the reason, but I haven't heard it on my last several rides.
  24. I've found hanging out around here, that most "enthusiasts" will prefer airtime over inversions. I generally do myself. I do have to say that the loops and rolls on a coaster are more impressive "looking" than an airtime hill. With that being said - an inversion done well can REALLY add to a ride experience. For example - the zero gee roll on Kumba is just pure bliss. Same thing with the "flying snake dive" on Storm Runner. So to answer your question: they do sometimes
  25. Thanks for the pictures. I, for one, had never heard of the place. I always love your reports of obscure places. Sometime, you'll have to post a picture of yourself so I can put a "face to the screen name"
