  1. It's been several years since the TPR Deep South Tour, but i distinctly remember Rampage ERT at night being ABSOLUTELY NUTS!! I'm so very glad that you all have stepped in and, for all intents and purposes, saved it. Thank you and keep up the good work! Looking forward to seeing you all put your distinctive flavor on the park!
  2. ^ I love the Cure!! Also loving that Siouxsie jacket! Looking good Bert - you are the incredible shrinking man
  3. I'm late to this party (office blocked TPR for a while as a Newsgroup,) but wanted to say that this was a FANTASTIC trip report. Good for you guys for getting that trip put together and for having such a great time. David P.S. - some of those pictures are the first time I've seen you without sunglasses
  4. Just had to restate this - love it and love TPR - even when we get into "two scoops of crazy mode." David
  5. I thought I'd give some advice Perhaps use the T-H-I-N-K before submitting. Here's the breakdown. Is what you have to say: Thoughtful? Honest? Intelligent? Necessary? Kind? If not - perhaps rethink what you are saying.
  6. In our final year of studies, we're required to complete a year-long design project like this that addresses a real-world engineering problem. It's not a component of a regular course, but the project carries a weight equivalent to 2 regular engineering courses. We have to submit numerous reports and give presentations throughout the duration of the project. I just wanted to go back a couple of pages and tell you what an amazing job it looks like you guys did. Kudos!!!! David
  7. I hear all this "hope/speculation/whatever" about Hurler. Can someone honestly tell me if this was ever a good ride? I've ridden them both and pretty much hate them both. I just can't see how a first drop into a 90 degree turnaround on a woodie would ever have been a good idea. I did not ride either when they were new, so.....what am I missing?? David "Hurler Sucks" McCollum
  8. Thanks Robb for the video and to those who have ridden for the reviews. I've watched this go up, and plan to ride it at a passholder thingy one of the mornings they offer it (I don't have the e-mail invitation handy to find out exactly when.) I know that from Robb's review, that it rides like a B&M Hyper, which to me is a good thing. I've always had a great time riding Goliath, Nitro, Apollo's, Behemoth, Etc... They are, in general, fun which is overall what I like from a coaster. I'm at this point in my life where my top whatever lists really aren't important. I've traveled a lot with TPR over the years and ridden enough coasters to know what I like. Generally, my "favorites" seem to be the ones that feel like they are trying to kill me , aka... Toro Night Rides, Skyrush, i305, Voyage, Outlaw Run, and the sort. That doesn't mean that I don't love me a good B&M though as I find them super-re-ride-able. David P.S. - I'm not a fan of trims either, but I really don't think they've ever "ruined" a ride for me - my opinion though.
  9. Looks like some awesome stuff going on! I'll need to get out there and check it out. We've been spending more time at MK and Epcot with visiting family recently, and haven't been to the Studios in a while. David
  10. Happy belated anniversary!!! Sorry I haven't been around for a while - my company had TPR blocked as a "Personal website" for a few months. David Happy Gay Days!
  11. ^Agreed - I usually ride hands-up, but about 1/4 way down the lift hill I was holding on for my life
  12. ^^ You can get to SFoG via public transportation (MARTA.) Take the subway from the airport headed West. I think it is HG Holmes station that has bus service to Six Flags (I'd check the Marta website to make sure that is the correct one.) For the park - Dare Devil Dive needs to be hit early as it is a great Eurofighter, but gets really long lines (even for Flash Pass.) Superman is the other one that gets lines (it is a flyer and to be expected.) NOT TO MISS: Monster Plantation (it's called Monster Mansion now, but I will always refer to it by its original name.) Mindbender - a truly spectacular Schwartzkopf looper, still one of my favorite rollercoasters. Superman Ultimate Flight - although it is the same as the others, it is the Original and actually uses its terrain. Scorcher - it is a much smaller stand-up than at your home park, but I feel it is truly one of the best of the breed. The Carousel - it sits on top of a hill and is absolutely beautiful.
  13. Loved this day!! I also have to say that Skyrush completely blew me away. The restraints were a tad uncomfortable, but took absolutely nothing away from the ride for me (which you can probably tell from the dumbfounded / dumb look on my face in that picture.) As always, thanks Andy for such great pictures!!!!
  14. Mindbender at SFoG - it is just classic and uses the terrain beautifully. Kumba - 'nuff said Batman the Ride - even though there are a lot of them, the amount of action and intensity they pack in a small space is pretty phenomenal There are several more, but these stick out to me.
  15. ^ well - each pair does fall into a certain category. Kumba (probably my the best B&M ever built in my opinion ) and Drachen Fire were big sit down loopers, and Cheetah Hunt and Verbolten are both more family style launchers. I was just wondering, can anyone make any sense out of that "leaked" drawing??? I know I can't and I'd love to hear some of your ideas about what it is.
  16. I think all of this sounds great. Laterals are fun, but the times I've ridden the Legend they have been rather brutal, bordering on not fun. The Four Corners in particular was pretty rough. That being said, I really don't think there is a way to re-profile this ride and take a lot away from the lats. It is how the layout is. I think smoothing out some of the laterals will add HUGE benefit to the ride and look forward to seeing it when it is done. I don't think the naysayers will be as disappointed as they think they will be. David
  17. Although I agree that this is crap - I'll play devil's advocate here - people DO suck. If there is a way to climb, break, fall off of, or damage something - they will find it.
  18. I don't think there will be much change to the actual layout of the ride. That (to me) is fine though. The Hulk, even when a bit rattly, was a pretty amazing ride as it was. I do think that there will be upgrades to the station and story of the ride and perhaps some other peripheral upgrades as well. It's great to see it coming back together.
  19. Going back to this for a second Even if you are an adrenaline / coaster junkie - you can easily spend 2 days at SDC. Trust me on this. There is so much to do and so much to see that during our last visit to Branson - we spend almost three days at the park and never became bored.
  20. I go every year on Easter Sunday and it is always a great time. The place isn't crowded and there is plenty of time to ride everything you wish. Daredevil Dive and Superman are the only lines, and they are still very reasonable. Opening day used to always be dead, but I haven't been on one in a very long time.
  21. ^Good job Bert!!
  22. Seeing these pictures of Superman back in its original color makes me remember what a freaking FANTASTIC ride it is! Looks amazing!
  23. ^ So very happy for you both!!!
  24. Although it's kind of sad to see the Buzz Bars go, the new trains look great and a new paint job will do wonders as well. I am uber-impressed that they are going with tracer lights! I love coasters with those, and they seem to be disappearing more than appearing these days!
  25. I've never ridden GhostRider so am unfamiliar with the ride. Have they added more banking to the banked sections of the ride, or were they already like that?
