  1. I am genuinely curious how you expect someone (anyone really) to answer a question like this. And how much can you trust what someone says answering this question anyway?
  2. From the sounds of the video ( ), this is a 'prototype' from them. Or at least it's the first launch that they've done.
  3. Correct. The launch is supplied by Velocity Magnetics, not InTraSys.
  4. I have a feeling it's less that it's new technology and moe that the three companies involved (RMC, Velocity Magnetics, and IOE) don't all have tons of experience working together on launching coasters.
  5. Our Arrow log flume is the second highest capacity ride in our park, and by a considerable margin. And ours isn't particularly long and doesn't have many boats.
  6. Not to mention that it takes a while for people to get used to how to run their rides and work with people. Training with empty trains is one thing, but dealing with actual people is a whole 'nother game.

  8. Why is a week of testing inherently more dangerous than any other arbitrary amount of time?
  9. I'm only laughing because your response to complaints about posting the same thing in multiple threads is to copy and paste the same thing into multiple threads. I found it entertaining. That said, if I were to be fortunate enough to take such a long trip to so many parks, I might do the same thing. I actually don't get the complaints. Besides, it managed to spark discussion in a relatively boring part of the season. Even if that discussion is very repetitive.
  10. It probably won't matter. From what I've seen, many colleges don't accept AP for math based majors like engineering. I took and passed Calc BC and still have to take all of the calc series in college. Interesting, I had an interview at UVA a couple weeks ago and engineering admissions was briefly discussed. I was told the deans of admission are really looking for 4's and 5's on the AP Calc exams, so I assume they just use the courses/exams to see your level of math intellect rather than using them to exempt college courses? Correct. We could use them in place of the math placement test, but not for exempting the course. But that's after you've been admitted. Admissions will probably value high AP scores and knowing that material will make some stuff easier (at least for a little while). Also... That's been my experience. Your results may vary. Your engineering advisor will be a much more authoritative source of information.

  12. Yep. Currently working on an ME degree. And I've been a part of enough of 'the industry' to know that this is something I definitely want to continue working towards.
  13. You mean like the seatbelts on Outlaw Run, Twisted Colossus, Medusa, and Wicked Cyclone?
  14. We did. That's where the extra trains came from. The number of seats we could fill extra with someone specifically grouping compared to briefly asking people to group up between cycles (1 train, so more time between cycles.) Grouping saved a negligible amount of time per cycle, it only did better at getting full trains (there were no empty seats in that time period).
  15. We experimented with assigning rows on one coaster for about half an hour. We estimate we may send about 4 extra trains if we do it continuously all day. 4 extra trains over the course of a 10 hour day.
  16. Well the more you know..... Xcelerator's PLC Panelview is located in the PLC room down by the queue so the operator panels only have a trouble light on them to alert the operators that maintenance needs to be called and then the maintenance personnel will determine what exactly pissed the PLC off by looking at the fault code/description on the Panelview. Any other questions, let me know. That's why I like our GIB. We can see exactly what (didn't) happen immediately. The others, not so much.
  17. I would probably approach my local park about funding some new attractions, but I wouldn't necessarily want to try and buy it outright, or mange it.
  18. Poma's first pulse gondola. Cool. I've only ever seen their aux panels.
  19. Complete disassembly, inspection, and reassembly for every ride vehicle, every year is standard for many parks. Even if the trains were rehabbed the year before.
  20. Enthusiasts opinion matters as a customer of the park, however a self-proclaimed title of enthusiast doesn't mean your opinion is more important to the park.
  21. If it's raining or wet, that's probably the issue. Our log flume uses those and the lift acts hilariously when it's raining because the rain usually makes them always "on".
  22. GIB catch cars, and the communication between the PLC, Drive PC, and the two catch cars is incredible.
