  1. There's no such requirement from Vekoma on a minimum number of riders on GIBs. It operates just fine (well, by GIB standards) regardless of the number of riders.
  2. They should be walking the track pretty much daily. I'm in the "it's funny so they're leaving it till told otherwise" camp.
  3. The supervising companion is there to make sure a kid stays restrained properly (like on the lift hill/break run) and "demonstrates appropriate rider behavior" (term stolen from CP's website). The restraints can hold someone only 42" tall just fine, but we want them to be with an adult until the kid is older.
  4. More so controls system stuff. Reporting errors for things that didn't happen - with the catch cars.
  5. Valravn being a "Raven of the slain" makes the timing a little awkward.
  6. Of course then we're still out there measuring because people haven't ridden anything yet. Or the wristband came off. Or they don't have their arms in a spot we can see them. And it's now a game of trying to see it. Whereas for the most part I can be measuring and many people don't even notice it. For kids who are right on the line (like unless they try really hard, they don't make the requirement) I love giving wristbands out. But for the most part, they're a pain to deal with.
  7. So would you prefer we spend time giving every person a wristband instead of just measuring quickly and moving on?
  8. That's fairly standard. Everyone is 'screened' (measured) before getting on the ride, every time. In a single shift we'll see hundreds of people, and it's too hard to remember specifically "this kid is tall enough". And if you move to a different position, then theres a large chunk of people you haven't seen, so to be safe, everyone is measured. It takes only a few seconds unless there's a kid who's right on the line.
  9. Brakes too wet. Not track. The friction breaks become less effective when wet. And IIRC, a delay on a train caused two trains to stack, but the first set of brakes wasn't really intended to stop a full train under normal operation while wet and failed to do so.

  11. Yes. Even when the seat belts are bright orange or yellow on a black seat. "Oh I didn't notice those!" "You mean you didn't notice the bright orange seatbelt and silver buckle stabbing you in the butt when you sit down?"
  12. From what I heard from a friend of a friend, it'll be down for the rest of the season after it had hydraulic issues and they don't have the parts to get it open again. You can always come ride a GIB at Silverwood.
  13. More money was spent on disassembly, transport, and reassembly then on the actual ride.
  14. Well every Saturday for the past few weeks has been the busiest day of the season yet. We're trying. Honestly. But when there's that many people in our little park it's hard to keep up, or to even have enough places for everyone to go. If you're coming on a day with storms in the forecast, make sure you stay if there are storms. Lightning in the area will close many rides and scare many people away, but as soon as the lightning passes we'll reopen everything we can.
  15. PTC trains aren't as bad on the topper track. It's a lot stronger.
  16. RMC track (in all flavors) is much more than just an I-beam being twisted around. Just sayin'
  17. Please be careful about using Cedar Points logo. They're big enough to not take something like that lightly, and just because you don't make money off it doesn't mean you can use trademarked content. It also goes against YouTubes policies.
  18. That is a fantastic example of a weird fact to know.
  19. We require shoes for the same reason, in case of an evac. And yes, on our inverted we do have to carry all of the shoes in the station up to the evac platform.
  20. There's a fourth train. It's coming. I've seen it. And given the work that goes into all the details I hope they don't just let it rot and pull parts to give the other three.
  21. Because it's easy to lose paperwork when you're not careful. Especially in a big park.
  22. There's thousands of things that can go wrong, most of which are monitored by the ride. If anything happens (sensor failure, something doesn't move that should, events happen in the wrong order, etc) the ride goes down until it gets fixed. Plus its reliance on nice weather doesn't help either.
  23. they open it with just the front rows and progressively move back to full trains once it's warmed up. It reduces the chance of a rollback if all the weight is at the front.
  24. Don't worry. RMC's got plenty up their sleeves even without Wildfire in 2016.
