  1. [youtu_be] [/youtu_be] Full video I love how Holiday World uses social media.
  2. I see we have similar opinions. Except our Paratrooper stays up during loading, so it's a balance ride too. A so Chance Skydiver's are insanely fun to operate. the controls are pretty unique compared to many rides.
  3. Wait what? Intamin Farts?
  4. Also to get relatively fragile fiberglass/painted pieces under cover.
  5. Boy phrasing sure is important, isn't it? Big difference between that answer and "We are unable to comment on any projects that haven't been announced by our clients".
  6. It might not have been empty when it happened. I can see a stuck boat like that being something where "let the next boat push bump it into the station" very well may be SOP, but I don't know. And then everything after that happened faster than anyone could have reacted. Water rides like that have to be treated differently as far as spacing than coasters. Stopping the lift for something that might not normally be a problem can cause other issues, like all of the boats stacking at the bottom of the lift, and then guests standing/moving around there. I don't know how this park runs that particular ride, and we don't really know anything for certain yet. If/when that CCTV footage gets released we may know more.
  7. Caved In is reportedly much better this year. It has a new manager and layout, and from what I hear, it's a lot better. Other than that, there's not a ton of changes. Total Darkness is in the pavilions, so the pizzeria is open again.
  8. I actually have no idea why they don't have it up. "It's ugly" is just a rumor from people not known for being particularly reliable. For all I know it was shipped up here damaged and wasn't safe to put up at the time. I'd guess that people aren't necessarily not going to Scarywood because Aftershock is closed, so the expense to put it up isn't really worth it for that. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  9. Because it's ugly. And it hasn't been needed at Silverwood. If they needed it, it is on site. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  10. I don't know why there's a difference. But I do know that when it's right around its limit it creeps through the cobra roll on the return trip, and it's not fun to watch. The park is very cautious about it though, because we don't have the evac platform on the cobra roll, so it not completing the cycle is a big deal. It also causes problems when it reaches the lift on tower 2 when it's going that slow. To my knowledge, they haven't ever opened it during Scarywood, at least in the past 4 years. 11. Aftershock requires it to be around 65° to run. They've gotten it running down to above 55°, but only if there's no wind and it can cycle consistently. Because it's nowhere near that warm at 7pm in October here, the park doesn't even try. Instead they use that time to get a head start on annual maintenance. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  12. I have some idea of how I'd like to recreate the poll. Mostly I need free time to work on it. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  13. Well to be fair there's pretty much always IBox track some were in their shop. And practically no way to identify what it's for from our view.
  14. If a park is consistently getting guest concerns about operators pushing too hard on restraints, that's a training problem with the operator. Every restraint we have in our park is checked by pushing down then pulling up. I only know of one attraction where we've had problems towards the beginning of the season with new ops because it has notoriously difficult restraints. But the problem is quickly fixed. 15. There are buckles are fully capable of being used in a chlorinated pool. We use seat belts with mechanical buckles on our rapids ride, and have since it was built.
  16. Most of the time the things that have issues don't sound good at all. Regardless of how benign the actual problem is or whether it compromises safety of the ride. "A problem with a brake" sounds really bad, but it's actually that the brake isn't opening within a certain amount of time because the valve is wearing out on one out of nine sets of brakes, that are never used during the cycle anyway.
  17. Correct. Stronger, and doesn't require large powerful equipment to bend anything in a precise shape.
  18. I believe it's specifically the process that's patented. And the fact that none of the material is actually bent, nor is there an I beam anywhere.
  19. The iBox track has actually been around for almost 20 years now. Look at the old Intamin tracks for Superman and Tower of terror. I don't think it is a patented track design, and I think S&S will be able to use it for their 4D coasters. IBox track is patented. RMC has been making the track for S&S. If they're no longer making it, then they're likely licensing it for this application.
  20. Sounds pretty standard for a wooden coaster. Steel wheels on a steel track. We put a lot of graphite and other lube on the tracks to avoid it because of how close all of our coasters are to pathways, but that's what they start to do.
  21. Probably because it isn't really something the public needs to be concerned with.
  22. Most coasters tend to work better when the wheels aren't glued to the track.
  23. Some do. It's more common on single operator flat rides, but there's no hard 'rule' about it either way. They also may behave differently. For instance most will act like an estop, cutting power to the ride. Others act like a cycle stop, that will slow the ride and park it normally. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
