  1. ^ DISCLAIMER: This is based off of the assumption that early entry for SP holders is the same as the early entry for Hershey Lodge guests. When Rikki and I visited HP a couple weeks ago, we used our stay at the Hershey Lodge to get in an hour early. Basically, ticket gates open at 9AM, and attractions in the Hollow and most of Founders Way are open to guests. Park officials have ropes up just past the Reese's Xtreme Cup Challenge and over just past SooperDooperLooper. Once 10AM hits, they drop the ropes.
  2. Personally Hershey is my favorite park, I wouldn't skip it. I'm constantly trying to figure out when/how I can get back up there. Between the 3 AWESOME Intamins, a classic (and smooth) Schwarzkopf, the two GCIs (I liked Wildcat), a unique B&M invert, a totally classic woodie, their line-up is rock solid and the park itself is awesome (except for all of the hills). I agree with everything here (except for Wildcat). I love so much about this place, and I am a huge admirer of Milton Hershey and his philanthropy work. Totally with you on the hills, though lol. My main thing I wish to experience is an RMC. I'm looking forward to fixing that with Wicked Cyclone in early August, but I'd love to get out to the Midwest to ride IR, NTAG, and OR.
  3. ^ He was referring to the news in the second paragraph, and the first paragraph already details the issues with the survey. Actually read a person's post before criticizing it. ^^ These improvements would be a great thing. I'm still holding out for that larger, 10-inversion model, but I certainly wouldn't sneeze at the current model.
  4. I enjoyed following it, but don't do it just for us. Do it if you still enjoy it!
  5. When you do, ride it in the front and prepare to say goodbye to that 8/10 ranking QFT X 1000
  6. It's definitely a possibility. One of those "we'll have to wait and see" things, I guess.
  7. Glad to see gone: Viper @ SFGAdv. The upgrade from Viper to El Toro is a primary contender for best upgrade in any park anywhere. Miss: Since Laser still tours, it'd have to be B&R: the Chiller, especially once they installed the lap bars. Imagine if they had reversed the cars like they did on Freeze? Both the zero-g roll and the replacement hop (double down drop!!) would've been intense. I have some sentimental attachments to GASM and Rolling Thunder, too, but I don't miss them. I still view GL as an upgrade and Rolling Thunder at its best rises to mediocre. It ran okay in its last couple of years, but there was no salvaging it. Zumanjaro and El Diablo are both upgrades, no matter what anyone with rose-tinted glasses says.
  8. ^ You have to remember that they also needed to expand the building to the left down in SFOT; both at this point are too small. The Right Stuff building would just have us maybe lose the go-karts, whereas the old Chiller building would have to practically double in size. Not saying it's impossible, I just don't see Six Flags making more of an investment into the potential attraction than they'd have to simply due to location within the park. Especially when it would involve pretty much reopening the whole Old Country area.
  9. At Hersheypark a couple weekends back, I added Wild Mouse (closed during my visit in 2013) and Laff Trakk. Wild Mouse was a bit more fun than I expected - practically none of the trim brakes were turned on. We flew through that course!!
  10. Not likely. Building is way too small for this type of attraction. If we were to get a Justice League dark ride clone in the park, the only logical location is in the old Right Stuff theater. That's exactly what SFOT did.
  11. It was insane both the Friday and Saturday I went last week. Definitely make it the first thing you do in the morning. It's a fun ride, but definitely not worth the 60 to 90 minutes it has been.
  12. ... and that it will be sponsored by Jersey Boys. No, you misheard the announcement. It'll be THEMED to Jersey Boys.
  13. I'm a little envious of you guys on the west coast with regards to LL:DOD. I'm sure the swaying tower from Superman running simultaneously adds such an awesome element to the ride those here with Zumanjaro probably won't ever get to experience.
  14. Skyrush. Left Hersheypark on a high note!
  15. Great report! Hugely disappointing that there are actually enthusiasts out there who would even think about behaving that way PERIOD, let alone at an event where the park is CATERING to them. You've got to be a special kind of jackass to stoop that low. SMH.
  16. You need to understand more how Orlando works. Universal isn't putting a small dent into Disney's marketshare, but instead they are simply increasing their own. When people come to Orlando for vacation they look at the number of days they need. I'm sure there is plenty of research out there that tells us people aren't spending LESS days at Disney, but instead they are spending MORE days in Orlando to do and see more things. This isn't hurting Disney, but it's most certainly benefiting Universal, and as a whole, that's a great thing. The more money brought into the area and the longer people stay in town is what Orlando wants. The whole concept between Disney Vs. Universal is something that mostly falls on the fanboy level that doesn't understand how the industry works, especially here in Florida. "A rising tide raises all ships" is by all means what is happening here. This, exactly this. It's a market where the parties involved aren't trying to steal away portions of each other's share of the pie but instead are looking for ways to make the pie bigger. Win win!
  17. ^ Ahhh, yea, then I don't think any amount of themeing would help you enjoy it then.
  18. Ditto. I had lost over 30lbs in 2013 and fit onto Possessed comfortably, but when I visited CP over the summer and tried to ride WT, it wasn't even close. Wasn't worth a "stapling" attempt, I just got off and let my ex ride haha. This overall is a fantastic trip report, and it helps me relive memories from my 2013 vacation, too (I also stopped at Kennywood). I'm sad you didn't try Exterminator out, though. Is it the spinning that gets you? I LOVED it when I went - the themeing really brings it up another level. I've ridden bare-boned clones of the coaster itself (Ragin' Cajun, Funcoaster) after it, and it amazes me how much the themeing really elevated that ride.
  19. As I write this, I'm sitting my my room in the Hershey Lodge munching on kettle corn, having just come back from a very successful preview night. The park was decently crowded, primarily with a lot of school / youth groups, but by the time we got there at 6:30PM a lot of them were filing out. Longest line of the night was Storm Runner at ten minutes, but that's mostly because we waited for the front. Skyrush still mangaged to catch me off guard - I get legitimately nervous each time I get in line for this thing lol. I even snagged my first ever ride in the back row on Skyrush at the end of the night Here's a breakdown of our night: Skyrush - x2 Great Bear SDL Storm Runner Sidewinder Cocoa Cruiser (Rikki solo) Coal Cracker Sky ride Wildcat Lightning Racer (L&R) Comet Kissing Tower Wild Mouse Tomorrow morning is gonna be used to ride Fahrenheit and Laff Trakk, then mostly meandering and relaxing, doing some of the smaller stuff and whatever tends to have short lines.
  20. The most recent news (from earlier this month) concerns NJ environment groups' desire to sue the park in an attempt to shelf the project. Here's an article from the Asbury Park Press about it. Prepare to be enraged. Here's a direct link to the article. The below photo is also included in the article showing an approximate location of the proposed solar farm.
  21. In most cases, no. You could end up adding time for each dispatch that would end up reducing the number of trains you could pump through each hour.
