  1. At the park now. Wicked Cyclone is amazing. NESS is down. So is Goliath, for the day apparently.
  2. I will work tirelessly to ensure this phrase becomes part of my everyday vocabulary.
  3. ^ Me too. I wasn't aware of this park until I followed Cannibal's construction and wasn't aware of how large it actually was until reading this trip report. Utah, I've underestimated you!
  4. I remember watching ride ops hosing off the back of a train on Bizarro while the next train was stacked with passengers directly behind it. The ride ops were a little too okay with aiming the water in such a way to cause the "splash" effect, and it was angering the riders in the front row of the next train. But then again, who wouldn't want a free bath of vomit water?
  5. This is the reason I voted yes. Admittedly, I'm not on Reddit very frequently, but this isn't about what I specifically would do, it's about what the new potential audience will do. I think this is a great idea to expand your overall reach. If anything, the fact that so many people are saying no simply because they don't go to Reddit is an even BIGGER reason to do it because it's it's illustrating that central point - forum users are comfortable still using the forums and wouldn't go to Reddit. Well, what about all the Reddit users who aren't going to come to the forums? You said it yourself, your other social media pages have been blowing up because that's where the market trend is heading. I personally don't understand the "fight to keep the forum alive" argument. Don't get me wrong, I LOVE this forum; it's by far one of the websites I frequent the most. However, it's foolish to argue against documented trends - that people more and more are using social media to interact - when planning tactical business moves. To me, Robb, the main consideration I see is the overall size of the potential audience weighed against the opportunity costs. The amount of time you end up investing into the subreddit will have to come from somewhere, taking some time away from your other media platforms (forums, Facebook, Twitter, etc). If you feel that this new audience at Reddit is large enough and beneficial enough to target, and the amount of time/energy it's going to take away from maintaining your other current avenues is nominal and not going to negatively affect the quality past your comfort level, than absolutely go for it. Hell, I'd be probably most inclined to support the "f**k it, let's try it out for a bit" tactic. If you end up not liking the results at first, hit the eject button.
  6. Train C has been the one I've noticed having the most issues this year.
  7. ^ I've got a feeling that the dualing launched coaster they featured in rotation on the "potential attractions" email is the next potential addition, over in Movie Town to revitalize that area. If not that, then they'll retrofit the Right Stuff theater for JL:BFM a la SFOT. I don't see a giga coming to SFGAdv anytime soon.
  8. Ditto. The hard shoulder restraints affect tall people a lot more than you may think. KK, Fahrenheit and Storm Runner come down tight on my shoulders. I still enjoy myself on each of those rides, but padded , looser restraints like Maverick / I305 would make them even better for me.
  9. Looks like you had a lot of fun! Two weekends ago I did a Jersey Shore excursion myself. Wildwood (Morey's) and both parks in Ocean City. Gillian's and Playland were mostly a credit whore stop for me, but Playland was more fun than I had anticipated. Rikki joined me for Gillian's to get the two credits, but because it was so hot out, she bailed on Playland and drove my car around blasting the AC while I went over to Playland for a bit. That Tropical Storm ride... the world needs many, MANY more of those!!!! I couldn't spend a great deal of time there since Rikki was driving around (didn't want her to wait too long), so I still have a bunch of tickets for a return visit!
  10. The two coasters at Carowinds I haaaaaaaaaated were Carolina Cyclone and Nighthawk. Cyclone was way too rough for me and Nighthawk just felt like it was going to fall apart as we went through the course. <3 <3 Afterburn <3 <3
  11. I'll be at the park on Monday. If anyone will be visiting then, let me know!!
  12. I'm going to re-evaluate my opinion on Namtab after a few re-rides. I ended up getting a bad headache afterwards, but I think that was mostly caused by other factors (I hadn't eaten in a while), and I don't want that to have clouded my judgment. I still really enjoyed it!
  13. I went to the park tonight with a bunch of former coworkers. I had my first experience with Namtab - man, does that give a fresh new experience to that ride! I was legitimately disoriented by the time I got off, something I haven't felt after a roller coaster in a long time. Overall a great experience, but I'm glad that it's just a temporary change and not a permanent one.
  14. WHAT. Dude, you need to come for a visit, I'm always there. I think you would like it. The Great White is worth a trip and there's tons of awesome flats and great food. I could talk up Morey's all day, I spent the last two weekends there. I can second this statement. Just wish I had more time to spend there.
  15. A lot of the restaurants there close early (10pm-ish) alongside the retail stores. It's a pain (I take that route south on my way home sometimes). Fortunately, they're building a Wawa where the old Harry's Army & Navy building used to stand, so FINALLY there will be something in that area available 24/7. There's also a new Taco Bell just a wee bit north past 195 on Rte 130, so there's another late-night option in that area.
  16. ^^ When I used to go after work, there were times when I was able to hit every coaster in 2-2.5 hours (not counting the kiddie coaster or Blackbeard), including Rolling Thunder. I occasionally had to hustle between rides, but it was doable. Granted, that's different than going for a few hours on a Saturday. But yea, it's definitely possible. The only catch is that you may only be able to ride each coaster once. Flash Pass will help make sure you get re-rides on the coasters that are worth it to you.
  17. We were going to hit Blue Ash, but they are closed on Sunday's, and mo day we're going to wake up, hit the rest of kings island that we didn't do the night before so we can bee line for cedar point and have a night and a day there! Ahhh, gotcha. That's a shame. Oh well!
  18. A recommendation: Blue Ash Chili instead of Skyline Chili by Kings Island. There's a location right down the street. it's light years better than Skyline and a non-chain restaurant (which is always a plus). Other than that, have fun!
  19. Python at Playland's Castaway Cove in Ocean City, NJ. My neck and back still haven't forgiven me...
  20. I'm just happy that there's a barrel roll downdrop that I can experience without needing to travel to Mexico. Everything else is icing on the cake.
  21. Looks like I've got no other choice but to do that Southeast US tour next summer that I've been putting off!!
  22. Don't get our hopes up Larson loops are reportedly all back open again. The problems may just be a thing of the past.
  23. While I kind of like that name, with Backlot Stunt Coaster and Flight of Fear still being there, it doesn't do much to fix the themeing mess that is Safari Village. They should just rename the section "Hodge Podge". Problem solved.
