  1. What a great way to help spread word-of-mouth and incorporate social media! A rather mundane act of shipping has turned into effective marketing. All for the price of a few truck decals!
  2. ^ I'm assuming it's something to help out with JL:BFM.
  3. I like the color! This will really pop nicely. Definitely a great way to enhance the park's skyline!
  4. Viper @ SFGAdv. I didn't know any better. Luckily it didn't scare me off completely.
  5. I would've been there, too, but my sister flew in for the week from San Francisco, so I had familial obligations. I was right by the park, too. Oh well, maybe some other time.
  6. The "leaked" image: There's no way THAT is what the supposed new hotel would look like. It looks like a second-rate college dorm.
  7. Do I hear a campaign slogan? Robb Alvey 2016: PUNISH THE IDIOTS!
  8. Evidence that (pending approval) Six Flags is tentatively planning a fireworks show for New Years Eve.
  9. I'll tell you what, I'd take (a working version of) Chiller any day of the week over a lot of the potential possibilities. Lapbar version, of course!
  10. This definitely crossed my mind, too. No, it's not impossible, but as much as I'd like it, I've got a feeling it's unlikely, unless it's being saved for a couple years down the road. Me when I saw that potential ride on the survey:
  11. See, to me, it DOES scream "GO BIG". SFFT's Batman had some of the most widespread coverage across news sites and social media I've ever seen during the last offseason. I can't tell you how many of my non-coaster junkie friends and family members shared articles of the announcement online or brought it up in conversations. It offers such a new and unique experience (in the general public's eyes, at least) that I can't imagine SFGAdv wouldn't have success from adding one, though I'd certainly hope for the larger model. I can understand an enthusiast being disappointed that we'd not get the next big bad addition, but I don't understand how that trumps the "what's best for the park" perspective. Here would be something that would get the public talking as well as revitalize an area of the park that has been absolutely dead for almost ten years. That's perfectly fine in my book.
  12. Ditto. I've liked what I've seen so far, but this is the first time that they've REALLY impressed me. I'm excited to see more.
  13. The irony of this is that with the lines they get, you could've ridden all of the coasters, & most of the flats, with re-rides and then some in less than 3 hours. I actually accomplished this here in under two hours at the park, so it was definitely feasible.
  14. I'm assuming that by merge point you're referring to where the Flash Pass entrance places you in line, right? If so, each of the four attractions you listed have their FP entrances place you essentially right into the station, so it'll give you roughly just a station wait. Zumanjaro would be just one ride cycle, the other three attractions it will depend on how crowded the stations are. Play it safe - buy ahead of time. Waiting to buy at the park really only applies when there's a chance the park is dead. That will not happen that weekend.
  15. I don't think I've ever seen so much press coverage from non-industry related sources for leaked announcement information before. Are there any other past examples?
  16. Dorney used to have a similar ride, I believe it was called The Joker. I don't recall when it was removed, but it used to be down constantly, and parts had to be shipped in from Europe. You are correct, sir! Operated from 1988 to 2004:
  17. Terrible to hear about the accident. Glad it was limited to just a broken leg, this could've been a lot worse. As for what should happen with these types of rides going forward, it really just depends on whether "poor park maintenance" or "manufacturing defect" was the actual root cause of the two accidents. If it's the latter, who knows, you might see these start to go the way of the Chaos rides in the mid-2000s. I'm not really familiar with mechanics of either the spring-loaded or elastic versions. Would someone with more knowledge be able to comment on how feasible replacing one system with the other without removing the whole ride altogether? Instincts tell me it's not really feasible, but I'm curious.
  18. This is going to be a fantastic addition and will really help spread the coaster love throughout the park. Here's hoping for a "Mini New Hotness" tour through the southeast US next year!!
  19. This looks like a great addition for this small park! Glad I got my Flitzer and Python credits a few weeks back, too. I've got a bunch of leftover Playland ride tickets in my car - looks like I just confirmed a return trip next summer!
  20. If you see me around say hi. I'm in the Legends of the Hidden Temple blue barracuda t-shirt.
  21. SFNE employees doing an excellent job attending to a woman who appears to be suffering from heatstroke after returning from a ride on Thunderbolt.
