I can understand this. 2015 Dining Passes have been programmed to terminate on 11/01/15, the original end of season (this has always been the advertised date - they were never advertised to work for HITP). I imagine that trying to extend them to this extra week would require readjusting each specific account, something that just isn't reasonable. The 2016 Dining Pass didn't have a scheduled start date - it began working once you completed processing.

Some notables: - Viper @SFGAdv - Hercules @ Dorney - Jersey Short Pinfari looping coasters

Yea, I agree with this, too. I agree it needs some TLC, but I'm wondering how effective a thorough power-washing of the visible sections would be in improving the ride's appearance. A lot of the photos I see regularly cited as evidence of a paint job to me show mostly grime. Power-washing would be a more cost-effective short-term approach that would allow them to allocate funds to more pertinent projects.

That One Ride You Just Can't Enjoy...
michaellynn4 replied to HAZE's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Pretty much any of the Six Flags simulator rides (Right Stuff, Escape from Dino Island, FMTTM, etc). Just never did anything for me. -
Ryan, I'm assuming that the long hours are a result of a lack of available staff to help split shifts more reasonably and not the park purposefully understaffing and scheduling you guys for 12, 13, even 14-hour shifts, right? (Pretty sure I know the answer, but just asking in preparation for the usual uproar of "WHY DOESN'T THE PARK STAFF MORE PEOPLE?!?!?! THEY SHOULD FIND MORE PEOPLE ON THE STREETS AND FORCE THEM AT GUNPOINT TO WORK THESE RIDES!!! DANCE FOR OUR AMUSEMENT RWAR!!111!1ONE")

I was there for about two hours yesterday (2:30PM - 4:30PM). My aunt and 8-year-old cousin hadn't processed their passes yet, so my brother and I tagged along with them. We didn't do much - just the Tea Cups, Parachutes, and Carousel. My cousin wanted to play a couple games on the Boardwalk, so we threw some rings at bottles and raced on Top Glo 2 (I won!). We had family waiting back at my mother's house, so we left shortly thereafter. Fun times. I might take off of work on Friday and head up to get some actual coaster riding in on the bonus days!

Worst Announcements for 2016?

Various Parks: A whole lotta nuthin'. If I had to choose a park that gets something, then Dorney's "Picnic Pavillion Palooza" gets my vote. That's not to say that it won't be beneficial to the park - it's just not for me. -
Man, I didn't accomplish as much as I thought I would. I managed to get to: - SFGAdv - Hersheypark - Various small NJ shore parks, including Morey's, Playland Castaway Cove, Gillian's, and Steel Pier* - SFNE - Canobie Lake Park* We did end up spending a week on Cape Cod, so we made separate trips to SFNE and Canobie Lake Park (I wanted to experience a new park up there). I had plans for Knoebels that I had to cancel at the last minute. Maybe I'll do a PA trip next year.

Pff. Same thing. I was at Great Adventure this past weekend with my 4-year-old son and just before being admitted to ride Houdini he told me "Daddy, I need to go bathroom". I ask him "Can you hold it or do you need to go right now?" "Right now Daddy." I take him out of line and head to the nearest bathroom (which wasn't as near as I would have hoped but thankfully no incidents). When we get back to the ride, the line had more than doubled in length. We sucked it up and got back in line at the back. I wasn't about to push our way through and use him as an excuse. That's lame. Yes it means more waiting, but it's more fair for everyone, and hopefully teaches the kid to let us know about his bathroom needs BEFORE getting in line rather than at the end of it. (We'll see on that front though.) Oh I agree, if / when I have kids, I'd act the exact same way as you did. It serves as a teaching moment. I just meant that although I don't approve of it, I wouldn't exactly rank them as being as egregious as a bunch of snotty teenagers just shoving their way through everyone.

Generally, I also hate line cutters. I tend to be more sympathetic to a parent with a little kid who needs to leave the line for a minute, but besides that, I don't like it. I think it should be established, though, as it has in past conversations about this topic on these forums, that if you witness line cutting, the ONLY thing you should do is inform a park employee / security guard of the matter. No grabbing the rails to prevent them from passing, no loud arguments with offending parties, no chants for the purpose of public shaming, no confrontation of any kind. It is the employees' responsibility and ONLY theirs to appropriately handle the situation. Any vigilante-style efforts could cause things to unnecessarily escalate, further ruining the experience of the surrounding guests. At that point, you're no worse than the line cutters.

Good Eating Outside of Theme Parks

Just wanted to post an update for a previously-mentioned location. The Java Moon Cafe by Six Flags Great Adventure has CLOSED. The building is vacant now. No word on if anything else will be moving in there. -
Someone posted a trip report elsewhere that said while riding Zumanjaro yesterday, Kingda Ka ran simultaneously. They even dropped while KK's train was coming down from the top, essentially racing it to the bottom. When they asked ride ops about it, the ride op said "when they are testing KK, they sometimes run at the same time." Can anyone with more authority speak to this? Has anything changed with the state, or is there reason to call BS on this person?

Nice so see some solid progression on the Lakefront clearing. Really glad to hear about some of the other improvements (SM waterfall, the much-needed queue lights for KK). I might try to make it this Saturday for one last Fright Fest visit. Normally this is a sad time of the year, but instead, I'm just really excited for Holiday in the Park!!

Yea, one of the common complaints is the park lost a list of its individual charm in the last twenty years or so from the various additions / removals by Cedar Point. I never experienced any of it (my first visit was 2001 and I didn't go back until 2013) but you can find a lot of info and photos of the past eras of the park online. Pretty interesting stuff.
