  1. Thunder Creek Mountain is the wettest log flume I've ever experienced. A trip to DP without riding TCM (when open) is a trip incomplete.
  2. As a Phillies fan, I have a vested interest in seeing the Cubs win. Besides, pretty much any decent-hearted sports fan (that aren't Mets or Cardinals fans) wants to see the Cubs finally get their win. Plus, I like the sound of Kingda Cubs.
  3. I like that it has seats for adults in the middle so parents can ride with their kids, but other than that, there's nothing about this that stands out. Another basic kid ride. I'm sure they'll have interested buyers, and it'll be received well in their targeted market, but I was expecting a little more from this company.
  4. ^ Me too. I'm really excited to see how they transform everything.
  5. At least you guys are getting the Flitzer, too. That Pinfari gave me one of the worst coaster experiences I've ever had this summer.
  6. I know this sounds weird, but I enjoy going on busy days like this last weekend for the sole purpose of walking around and enjoying the atmosphere. I love seeing everything running full speed and watching so many people have a blast.
  7. That's nothing new, that happens every year during Fright Fest. They have them set up by mid-September.
  8. Turns out that other guy was Jim-Reid Anderson, CEO of Six Flags! Now I really regret not going up and saying something. Sorry, apparently I hit quote instead of edit. Forgive me, I'm on my phone. And yes Batman is still backwards.
  9. At the park now. Report later, but I saw Fitzgerald! He was walking with someone, even took him into the Blood Shed maze! I wanted to stop and see if I could get a picture with him (#nerd) but he seemed busy and I didn't want to bother him. I know others have seen him and talked to him, but it was a first for me. Rikki got a kick out of how I was nerding out haha.
  10. If you do go next year, I would recommend a 2 day trip and to stay in a cabin at the campground overnight. It really adds to the experience, and if you're coming up from Jersey the 3 hour (or more) drive can be exhausting at night. Being able to marathon Phoenix until the park closes with no worries is an awesome feeling. Yea, I would definitely do this if I go. Rikki loves camping, even though I personally despise it. I'd have a major selling point If I'm able to roll camping into the itinerary (and I can stomach staying in a cabin).
  11. I'm really curious to see what kind of feedback they end up receiving from these changes. Requiring doctors notes will certainly help cut down on any abuse of the system.
  12. ^ The issue for me is I have a family commitment on Saturday that prevents me from going, otherwise I'd totally choose that day over Friday. I ended up deciding to pass on the event this year. I still took off of work, but I've got some chores I've been putting off that I really need to get done instead (take car in for servicing, update my NJ vehicle inspection, etc). I'm definitely going to put Knoebels on my 2016 list, though!
  13. Columbus Days usually have pretty decent crowds. I wouldn't say they approach "Labor Day / Memorial Day" levels, but don't go in expecting a low-key off day atmosphere.
  14. Good point, I didn't even think of that. I'll look into it. This is exactly what I did in 2013 when I was planning my large trip. Platinum pass through Dorney, and I ended up using it to get into Kings Island, Cedar Point, and Kings Dominion, too. Visited Dorney about four times that year, also - platinum pass was TOTALLY worth it!
  15. Anyone from here currently going on Friday for Phall Phunfest? Current weather forecasts (rain likely, thunderstorms after 2pm) have me debating going at the moment. I'm a bit bummed - it'd be my first trip to Knoebels. I'm hoping forecasts change, but I'm not confident they will. Wondering where others stood.
  16. The layout of SoB doesn't really strike me as something that RMC would be interested in undertaking. They're more "GCI" style than "CCI", if you catch my drift.
  17. Tony Clark has quickly become one of my favorite people on Twitter.
  18. ^^ The music they would play is all garbage, anyway. I strongly prefer the (regularly seen) Looney Tunes cartoons. It was a great day indeed when they started playing those in line again!
  19. I'm excited to see future construction updates. I'll be really interested once we start seeing the new tiered landscaping take shape over where the Grandstand used to be!
  20. I went to the park on Saturday with Rikki and my mother. It was my mom's first trip back in a couple years. I purchased her a season pass for next year during the big Labor Day sale, so we took her to get it activated. I knew the park would be dead, but I was amazed with how dead it actually was. The most we ever waited for anything was a station wait. We even walked directly onto the Safari! The Safari was the highlight of the day for us. The weather really helped make several of the animals active, much more so than they would be on a normal hot day. Lions were running and playing, giraffes ran across the field, tigers were pacing and roaring, black bears were active and posing, etc. The only downside was that Camp Aventura was closed due to the weather / staffing, but it was still one of the best Safari trips I've been on since the drive-thru element was eliminated. It was very nostalgic for my mom, too - she was a warden in the Safari back in the 70s and loves what the park has done with it. We would've ridden a lot more if we didn't take my mother with us (back problems keep her off of most rides at this point), but she was still able to enjoy Buccaneer and Houdini (her first time one it) with us. Besides that, we did Nitro, Superman twice, and El Toro. We were only there for a few hours, but it was a fun day nonetheless!
  21. I just make a mental note of anyone who would claim it as a new credit and add them to my list of people I don't want to hang out with. I find it far more entertaining to quietly judge people and use it as a weeding out process. QFT.
  22. ^ WC isn't a wooden coaster. #1: El Toro (easily) #2: Based on what I've been on, I'd probably have to say Coney Island Cyclone. I haven't been on any of the RMC wooden coasters yet, though, so it's subject to change!
  23. Rikki and I were in the area yesterday, so we visited the park for a couple hours. A couple quick notes: - I have to say, this year was by far the smoothest season pass renewal experience yet. I LOVE that everything for next year (parking, dining plan) automatically shows up on the card versus past years where add-ons still needed additional processing. After the gate attendant told me this, I was still a bit hesitant to believe it (my dining pass didn't initially show up earlier this year and I had to jump through a couple hoops to get it rectified), so I went up to a supervisor directly inside the main gate just to confirm this was actually the case. She was VERY helpful, even scanning my pass on her computer to verify everything processed properly. So painless! - I didn't ride much, but operations were a tad sluggish on what I did ride. Bizarro's queue weren't exactly standing around and talking, but there wasn't really any hustle in their steps either, and the third train regularly stacked on the course. Nitro's crew were a bit more distracted - they frequently were gabbing away together and lacked any real hustle. Three trains regularly stacked here, too. Skull Mountain's team were really good, though. - We left around 5pm, so we didn't do any of the Fright Fest-related events, but I'm excited to try them out one night soon. LOVE the pumpkin man statue. It looks even better in person! Rides (all once): - Bizarro - Sky Ride - Skull Mountain - Nitro
  24. Really curious to see where this new track type goes!
  25. Thunderbolt was really smooth for me, too. However, it was also very "meh". It was one of the rides I really wanted to get on again during my visit this year because I thought I enjoyed it in 2014, but I was very underwhelmed upon revisiting.
