  1. Millenium Force may be the perfect coaster.
  2. Glad to hear your impressions, and holy crap double homicides? That's gotta be rough. You deserve a vacation after that. Enthusiast events are crazy. It's a bunch of people who are all here to do what we love most, and everyone does it a little differently. I don't really socialize at those events--a lot of those people creep me out, tbh--but I like that these events exist to help out my fellow weirdos. The parks generally go all out to give a good time, too, and that's the real draw for me. Worth putting up with some awkward interactions for that. Don't blame you if you can't handle it though, some of those people are very far off the norm, especially in terms of social skills. Camping at a park is so great. We've done it at SDC, Holiday World, and Six Flags St. Louis (the last at a nearby KOA), and I camped solo at Knoebels and Hersheypark. Something very relaxing about sleeping in nature, and also having a bus to take you to a theme park each day. It's ok if you didn't especially care for Steel Vengeance. That's why they have so many coasters of such variety. MF, Maverick, Dragster and Valravn are all awesome, and I'm glad you had fun riding those. Cedar Point does have something for everyone.
  3. Tonight's selection is Firestone Walker EX-1 Pale Ale.
  4. The lines close when the park closes. Everyone in line at that moment will get to ride. Don't be late; they are strict about cutoff time. If you get in line about 9:45, you'll be good. Time Traveler is pretty great at night, but if you haven't experienced it, Outlaw Run is maybe the 2nd best night ride after the Beast. Try to get on that right after dark, then make your way to TT. Have fun!
  5. Ooh...hard...I listen to them both often. Doolittle, for how much "Monkey Gone to Heaven" gets stuck in my head. Battle of the producers: Steve Albini or Brian Eno?
  6. That checks out. Probably made that sign back when spinning classes were all the rage, hoping to sell it to a gym, only they were a bit too late and the fad ended. Then they got this order and Glen in the warehouse got all excited. "Wait RIGHT HERE, guys. I've got something you're gonna love!"
  7. Glad you enjoyed Eagle. It really is great. The 42" minimum makes it all the more awesome. As for the Boss, I think a lot of people confuse roughness for intensity. The Boss in its current state is intense, but aside from a couple of turnarounds, it's not actually rough. It used to be rough all over, but all the new track has fixed that problem. It remains intense like the Voyage is, and is polarizing for that reason.
  8. When I was there for Coastermania the weekend after Memorial Day, all the water rides were open except Shoot the Rapids.
  9. Hey Phil, look what just arrived at my local Macadoodle's! This is the only one they have, and it's the only one I've ever seen out here.
  10. I know a lot of enthusiasts don't care about River Battle, but we loved it. We ride River Blast at SDC almost every visit in the summer too. It's a really great ride for kids, thrilling but slow with no drops. Everyone can enjoy it together. In the modern world where most new rides have very high height requirements, having a ride with no minimum when a parent rides is awesome.
  11. SWEET! Did you get to meet Bert? Yup! Funny guy! What you see on the show is him, the entire time, even off camera. He had this idea for this cheesy group walk thing, that we all did, and they used that. So hilarious! It was the lone time you actually saw me in it! Lol That's so great. I hear from just about everyone who has met him that he is such a classy guy.
  12. That's a great comparison. Glad Cedar Point got right on fixing that issue before summer.
  13. Powder Keg and Firefall do not run in the rain at all. Not sure about Time Traveler, haven't been there on a rainy day yet to see. Everything else will run even in a downpour, unless there's lightning within 5 miles of the park.
  14. Well, wait a few years and come back w/ the family. Maybe we'll have a newer big coaster by then. And if not, you'll have a new spinner to ride. Yeah, my trip was built around Knoebels, and of course Hershey and Great Adventure were a must. I kind of threw on Moreys as a "while I'm here" kind of thing. It was much more than that, and I totally get why people come back year after year. It's awesome in a very low key way. Maybe I overvalue seaside locations since I live in the mountains in the middle of the continent, but I don't think so. Moreys is legit great. I kind of expected it to be a once and done sort of place, but I really think I will be back. It's a long way and expensive plane tickets, so we'll go to Orlando first, but we probably will all get back to Wildwood at some point. Gotta take everyone to Hershey and Knoebels anyway, those places are too good not to share.
  15. This looks fun! I love that RMC is using those funky prelift bunny hops from Twisted Colossus on more coasters.
  16. 0 Would you rather have no one listen to anything you say or have everyone hang on your every word but always misquote you?
  17. If this is true, maybe what I said earlier about DL being thrown aside like Great Escape and SFA won't happen after all! Hmm...doesn't seem up to Wikipedia's neutrality standards... Ha, nope, they've already updated it. I love Wikipedia.
  18. Great report, great photos. I likewise had CP on my radar since Millennium Force, but it was Valravn that got me to commit and go. I hear often that the two East Coast ones are better, but they're so far away that I appreciate having one close. It's a great ride. Gatekeeper is a good example of why you don't listen to enthusiast complaints. It's fun, different, and exciting even if not intense. Love all the photos of Steel Vengeance; what an RMC to pick for your first one!
  19. Not sure CF has the money for that. It can only be disassembled by the rightful heir to the throne of Britain, and princes don't work cheap.
  20. Okay, makes sense. I was just going off gold including all Six Flags parks and Gold+ including all Hurricane Harbor parks.
  21. Sweet! Sounds like a great gig.
