While I didn't find it that bad, it's still a shame that a coaster which is pretty good has a high level of roughness. The layout looks nothing special but I find the ride awesome. However it is not so great when you get a shakier ride.

It's a shame some rides get neutered (a little or a lot) like this (even though some of these remain great). That also reminds me of dragon khan which had a fairly big MCBR neuter this year. Was it the same with alpengeist? Was the change from one season to the other or more gradual? Also, for those who've ridden it, does the loop feel any faster than other inverts? Because it looks (even now with the trim at the top working) that the train goes through that element faster than most other inverts. And how loud is it? Is the track filled with sand? (on some videos it looks super quiet and on other it makes some" noise). Just curious.

I really like the films, but I'm also not "heavy on it". As to the lightsaber discussion, I think it looks pretty cool but I'll wait to see how it is used on the films.

^Interesting place to "park" them. Are all the track pieces already in place? -
I haven't ridden it but that trim on the top of the lift does look very annoying. I love these swooping drops in the back as you get whipped to the side but (based on POVs) that doesn't seem to happen with that trim. Plus the cobra roll would be even snappier if it weren't there (and so would the twist into the MCBR).

Based on the lift/turn height difference on this and leviathan, it should go through that bit slightly slower than leviathan's overbank (but then they're also shaped slightly differently) -
^Yeah I remember seeing that on facebook. It's awesome! (although some transitions look a bit "coat-hangish")

^Yeah me too. I guess that part of what makes these dive coaster drops so fun is the fact that B&M's OTSRs allow for some movement which means you can/will lift off your seat. With the new ones, I wonder what will happen. -
Which rides have given you greyouts?
rcjp replied to rcjp's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
It might not be crazy forceful but the inverted drop/immelmann combo does provide a good amount of positives for a fairly long time, potentially resulting in greyouts. I rarely greyout but recently it happened to be on abismo (the extended skyloop in Madrid) whose drop/sort of inclined immelmann combo is (if you forget the roll) not that different from gatekeeper's. -
Coasters That Are Criticized For Being Too Intense
rcjp replied to PaTim's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I think it is. I rode KK a few years before TTD and as almost all people here prefer the latter I was surprised when I rode it (and having ridden KK again less than a week before). I agree that it is smoother and that the restraints are better (and so is the fact that there is no trim at the top). However, Kingda ka felt fairly more intense. I don't know if it is the extra speed, the more forceful launch or if it pulls more Gs (it does feel that way) or even the roughness (which is nothing to complain about in the front) but it was just a more extreme ride and that's why it has the upper hand for me. -
True. The person below me has been to the dentist in the last two months.

Coasters That Are Criticized For Being Too Intense
rcjp replied to PaTim's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I think the problem is more the restraints and not the airtime itself. This is one of the few coasters that I have heard enthusiasts saying it might get too intense. For me it's fine but I do see why some would say that. After riding it two times in a row (thanks to flash pass) in the front I remember thinking: Wow this really was an intense experience and I don't know how many times in a row I would do it comfortably. -

I wonder how steep the drop is. From the pictures it looks almost as steep as takabisha's. -
Embarrassed of parks...

^Agree. I'm also into other things such as cars but not as much as this and it's definitely something different from most people. -
^It sucks that we have to wait a whole year. I haven't read the books but I enjoyed watching it.

Looks pretty cool! It would have been interesting to see the guy speeding over the airtime hills to get some air -

This is quite sad. If everyone knew how to behave properly we could have a lot more interaction between the rides and the surrounding area (or two rides like dueling coasters) but I guess that's just not gonna happen.
