PortAventura Discussion Thread

^I think that was the idea with KK's trim at the top (although it doesn't really work as expected) and for it to be "only" 110 m and be faster/as fast as it would need some serious trimming (or it would have ejector air over the top which I doubt). -
I think they really are rough (at least some). They may not be the most comfortable rides because of the your position as they put a lot of pressure on your legs but I personally would be able to ignore that. My problem was that there was some headbanging. I never had any "crotch" problems. Why were they rougher than the average B&M at the time I don't know but (in my case) it really was the roughness that bothered me.

They are advertising it as the tallest and fastest accelerator coaster in Europe. So, basically, it would only have to go faster than 134 km/h (to beat furius baco) and be over 62 meters (stealth at Thorpe Park) . However, they have said that it will be over 100 m tall and hit "nearly" 200 km/h. In order to gain the tallest and fastest accelerator title in the world it would have to be over 139 m tall (to beat Kingda Ka) and go faster than 240 km/h to beat formula rossa but that's obviously not going to happen. -

^Thanks for the update. As to the coaster, why would they not refer to it as a coaster? Then they would have the two tallest and two fastest coasters in Europe! And it's not like they decide whether it is a coaster or not. About the height, they said it would reach "nearly" 200 km/h. TTD reaches 193 and is 129 meters tall. So that means that either it will be at least 120-130 m tall or it will not reach "nearly" 200 (I know that's debatable but personally, I don't consider anything slower than 190 "nearly" 200). -

It does look stunning, but I have no idea where it is. -

^Although, if you think of it, maybe eejanaika's raven turn is taller and riders do go upside down there, so I'm not entirely sure. -

Those are quite a few coasters! (even though some might be knock-offs) -

How many overbanks will this ride have? Are all the turns beyond 90 degrees? -

Don't sell this ride short... while many of it's records will just be regional records I expect it to hold the WORLD record for the ugliest coaster ever built for years to come. EDIT: It can probably claim to have the tallest inversion for awhile too until the Poler Coaster opens. Doesn't gatekeeper have the world's tallest inversion? -

Great! But is it just me or the colour of the track is quite similar to fluch von novgorod's? -
Why do most Wooden coasters start by turning?
rcjp replied to tarheel1231's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
^Not Fury 325 as the transfer track is after the station but yes, I have also wondered if the others you mentioned really need to do a run before being stored (I guess they do as not only are there no drive tires but those parts have a downwards slope) -

^More modern woodies tend to have friction wheels (like the intamins and RMCs) but yes, most do not have them. -

^Me too. I know it won't quite be a hyper (although it's fairly close to 200 ft) but I still exiting! I like how the loop (if it really is the world's tallest) just comes after a drop an not after a launch which partially goes up the loop itself (Full throttle). I know it sounds silly but I find it more "natural". I just saw on RCDB that it'll have two inversions so that really must be a zero g. Once more,it's interesting how the ride won't be just inversions and will have quite a few moments of air. That being said, I would really like to see a B&M sitting/floorless or invert scaled up to a hyper. -

^Now that I think of it, there aren't many coasters where the brake run, station and lift are all in the same line. (Alpengeist is one I can think of) (edit): Ok I've just started remembering quite a few rides which do that (like the BTR clones) so maybe I should say there aren't that many "big" coasters like that. -
