Hersheypark (HP) Discussion Thread
QueerRudie replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Huge new clue: Five pieces- one on each of the five sites: Place them together and you get a puzzle with THIS: All the missing letters spell out: In the end only 4 will ride. We don't know what this means- yet... -
Thank you Louis for coming over and putting forth some effort into this, I personally appreciate it quite a bit... One of the factors I've dealt with over some of the views of NE is from a handful of joint members here at TPR and at NE who don't exactly treat people with respect; that is, I have been building parks for 14 years in RCT/RCT II (Yes, I can hear the scream, RCT II was 02, get over it everybody!) and have had nothing but bad connotations over some of these people's efforts to berate people. I do NOT want anybody to think I'm trying to trash NE at -all-. It is the immature behaviour of a handful of people that have tainted my views- and their open expression of total disregard to myself- and to other people. I have -no- problems with NE at all; in fact, it's good to have such a site, and with some good explanation, I've got a better view over it; I can understand the aspects of time put into each park's creation (The logo, etc. being made by volunteers- that's pretty much the same thing here, as far as dressing people's posts and correcting errors). I wanted to get a good explanation for the rules of the site, and while I don't think I'd post there (Once again, this is NOT against NE or pro TPR- it's something that a handful of joint members between both sites have broadcast to me, since I don't fully meet their qualifications) I can understand the justifications- I might not fully agree with it, but I was looking for more transparency/clarity towards the rules and related. I can hope in the future NE and TPR can work together on joint projects for the benefit of both sites, as I sort of think that would be something pretty amazing. EDIT: That's sort of the problem I'm trying to address as well- not only with our own TPR members, but as a general thing; I'm disappointed with the behavior of some of our TPR members here in the Games Forum- and some of their actions end up giving NE a bad name- and that's something I -never- want to see a TPR member do.

Photo TR: Hanno goes to Japan with TPR
QueerRudie replied to Hhappy's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Another wonderful update, Hanno- and so many Japanese in their cloaking hoods- The park looked so empty, one has to think the park has been abandoned- save the operating rides! -
Partly I think I see a lot of people posting up pictures and then saying go to NE to download the park- and that's something that does bug me. I want us to have a thriving community- and I love the idea of people posting parks here, there and everywhere- it's good for the game. However, don't simply link to another site just because you're not allowed to post it here- that's just not fair to us. And it's not about the culture of the two sites, at least to me. We have our own separate demographics, and that's fine; we are about all games here vs. just RCT II there, and I respect that. I'm hoping that people will see my persepective here; it's not meant to cause anybody to go "We're better than you are, nyah nyah" but rather for me to try and understand what is, at least in my opinion, a rather outdated policy- and one that is for the benefit of a few, and not for the whole.

I guess I'm old-school BGW, when it was still The Old Country of years back; for me, a drop-tower just doesn't quite fit my memories, if that makes any sense. Of course, getting in Geist Almighty back in 97 did start to change the skyline; Griffon more so. I can see your point- but my memories I guess are still lingering on a bit more than they should...

I decided to split this topic off, simply as I'm finding myself more than a bit confused about NE Designs, and some of their policies. I don't want this to become a "We're better than them" thread, but rather, I'd like some insight into some of the rules there that I myself don't understand, as well as other such items. This is not an NE Bashing thread- nor is it a TPR Games Forum bashing thread- and any such posts will be deleted. Basically: These are posts from another user's thread, answering a basic set of questions that I don't understand: Why IS there an restriction on releasing a park to other sites before NE designs 'rates' it - and for that matter, why does such a rule matter? I'm finding it very frustrating that we see work here on the Games Forum, but aren't able to share in these works with our own members due to the NE rule about submitting your park to another site first. Thoughts?

Busch Gardens/Water Country, VA
QueerRudie replied to jcm's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I agree completely. If he really thinks that one post is going to make us go "No way we're going back to Busch Gardens because of one post" he's dead wrong. Bad days happen- and I can fully assure him this: At least BGW DID offer compensation for a bad day. Try that at SixFlags and see exactly what happens. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EZBcPIDKyCw -
I'm pretty sure the point of a DROP tower is the drop... Plus, the vibrating seats are going to be a perverted joke by teens standing in the queue line. But anyways, I'm just glad BGW got this to look at the park from that height since they don't have any form of an observation tower. I agree with the point of a drop tower... as that's what the ride is called... However, I might be in the minority here that a drop tower is something that ruins the skyline of BGW: It didn't need one before, and perhaps the malfunctions of Mach Tower now is the ride's way of saying "I don't belong here. Get me out of here."

Um, do you have a better word for it? As it appears to me, the message is being sent: "If you want to get something from us, you can't put your park anywhere else first." Why would it matter? RCT II is not something that the rest of the world is going to stop and go "WOW" over. To me that seems like a rather fruitless and pointless rule. Perhaps I just don't understand the issues with having posted to multiple sites- and for that matter, it seems protectionist to do so. We don't have that rule her at TPR- and we DO give out Awards for competitions; soon much more from there.

Madness is all in the mind.... I think our coupon system is officially 'failing' in a way as in: We're still running into the generated coupon problem with one of the users; as I update the points for the TPR challenge starting today, I'm hoping to figure out if it's a fluke or if there is a problem with the user's coupon; I'm not sure of which- GRRR. If there IS a problem, and we need to have the developer fix it, there's a number of things I'd like added to the system at the same time- primarily a way to track lifetime and a 'variable' system so as the FASTrack points are used up, we can deduct them out- thus keeping track of both how many they've accrued lifetime, as well as how many they have as a balance. I'm just about finished with the V 1.21 of FASTrack, but due to other priorities, I can't begin to test it till mid August (The WN merger is taking up all of my resources right now!)

Hersheypark (HP) Discussion Thread
QueerRudie replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I think it goes without saying... I've applied. And I sure do hope I get picked- after 9 months, it's been like a 5500 long, 212 foot tall, 81 MPH wingrider that's the love child of Expedition GeForce and I305 baby to me. As for the ride itself, I'm putting my 'best perspective' of what I see the ride being: A 5500 foot long, 212 foot tall wingrider, with many different elements, including several overbanked turns, negative G pop hills, and some interesteng elements. Seeing the layout to me is like I305 wasn't careful with EGF- and we're the ones that benefit from it! R.D. -
The Official TPR Bag of Crap Thread!
QueerRudie replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Absolutely 100% agreed. I'm trying to finagle a trip to japan just for the 'meat' animals- they'd be great in my kitchen! -
I'm glad to see a new park in Spain- even if it's a Paramount Park- but I think the airport will be like many of these in Europe- a total and complete bust. Three airports in that region is -ridiculous- as you're not looking at a metro area with a populous that big to support it- tourists or not. I'd be interested to see if Paramount tries to lure people to the park with free charters and use the new field to do so. Otherwise, I think they'll be using the other airports surrounding... especially Alicante.

Post your best pictures!
QueerRudie replied to tiger01's topic in Roller Coaster Games, Models, and Other Randomness
Jimmy- Outstanding- I'd give anything to have a copy of Scream Machines, sadly, it's one that went by the wayside so quickly! I can only hope that we get Suspended coasters in NL 2.0- or in the future! -
What area really needs a theme park?
QueerRudie replied to let1gre's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
All the cool people live in Phoenix... we're much bigger, and we've got, um, uh, more dust. -
Friday: We need to do a RCT III track; the next TPR challenge (Following the one 'in play' now) is NL (Still trying to build a decent RCT III scenario; working on it)- so NL is a good follow into. Two weeks from now: I think an RCT II track would be a great idea; the TPR challenge (Peabody's leafy lake) will be done with, and we'll be rolling into NL from there.

OK: That might be some of the finest Schwarzporn out there- I mean that. Those are some -outstanding- pictures of His greater works- Alpina is one I'd love to build a retirement home for here in the states, and Olympia, well, outside of the West Edmonton MIndbender, is one of His finest works! OUTSTANDING!

TPR's Ever Evolving Park Index
QueerRudie replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
IT works! It lives- and I love the photography! A great addition to the network- I'll be testing this for a bit to see if I can find a failure- though I doubt it! -
Hersheypark (HP) Discussion Thread
QueerRudie replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
The way I see it- from the layout and the 'blurred' pic is this: While in Europe, I 305 had a -really- hot date with Expedition GeForce, and after a night of red-hot-lovin', I305 ended up pregnant. Hiding out over the winter in Pennsylvania, she had her baby (Thus the leftover track from the 'refitting') and the 'child' is soon to be HersheyPark's next coaster. -
My drawing of Hersheypark (with a surprise)

This deserves a MEGA BUMP.
